  1. If we had a working overdraft in keeping with a £3m or whatever it is turnover business we might have avoided the alleged cash flow crisis that resulted in us selling our best player mid season. Is that not a debate for some bank debt? I'm arguing for 6 good players next season and the ambition to be a top 16 club in Scotland.
  2. There have been many viable revenue generating suggestions on these forums. And the banks are lending to businesses with good business plans and proactive management. Our problem is we are for sale. We have no demonstrable ambition and a bleak trajectory.
  3. From an aggressive, sustainable business plan that involves challenging every bit of the business to make more money, some borrowings and most important a good team on the park that supporters happily pay money to watch.
  4. This utterly catastrophic season surely hasn't been a complete surprise to you? It's been on the cards. We have let good players go and brought in bad ones. Ditto for management. A call for investment in half a dozen good players to supplement the young core of our team and build a strong squad of 15 to challenge for top 4 surely isn't pie in the sky stuff? If it is then the season tickets should be more thsn a tenner cheaper.
  5. Let's forget the footie and just cheer on our EBITDA.
  6. I think we have had 3 bad seasons due to cost cutting and poor investment of what little cash was made available. The cup was great and that was a very decent team but it's been downill since.
  7. Stlucifer is right though. The team needs the investment he calls for.
  8. It's a bit of a myth that our penny pinching puts the BoD on the moral high ground. Other clubs our size are well run, bring in good players and are not honking.
  9. Dont know whether it was the club that allowed McGinn to run down his contract or whether the player didn't cooperate. Certainly McGinn is a good football player so one would have thought that the club did its bit. Bit of a worry if young players don't feel any commitment to the acadamy as it's transfer fees that will keep it going and able to bring through young players In the future. Anyway McGinn doesn't want to stay and looks to be off at the first opportunity. Good luck to him.
  10. What happened to the tradition of two or three young (latterly not so young mind you) ladies modelling the strips. Is that now non pc or did the ladies retire? Much prefer that to a re-thatched Greg Wylde modelling them.
  11. Some good shouts. You look at what's available and it doesn't look impossible to build a pretty good squad of 15 or so with plenty talent, experience and grit. Add a decent manager and we could be laughing.
  12. Sums up how I feel. I will buy my usual 2 tickets but the BoD needs to make its mind up. Either behave like a community club and engage with the support or make it clear that it's your baw and we are all a bit of a pain in the arse in which case we will all drift off.
  13. Noticed big Mcleish in the Herald talking about his time in Belgium. All about specialist coaches and technique. Makes me think Jimmy Calderwood is a stand out candidate as he has picked up great experience in Holland and here. Tan man for me.
  14. Dream appointment but I suspect that Saints are too wee a club for Mixu now.
  15. Good sensible statement. I am sure there will be a fantasic response and the BoD will have a difficult choice to make. I hope we receive further, regular communications that give some comfort that the BoD is back and awake at the wheel.
  16. Will the BoD adopt its usual strategy of budgeting to finish 3rd bottom of the league and anything else is a bonus or do we have a 1 year or a 3 year plan to get back up? Ms Budge and Craig Leven put their strategy to the jambo fans about this time last year.
  17. I agree. However, there is also a suspicion that it has been a troubled dressing room for a while. The Danny Grainger trouble maker types have gone but maybe only a huge clear out will guarantee to get rid of all the malcontents and restore a good, together team spirit. Can GT deliver that or is he too close to the problem?
  18. Pressure off and the team wins. Looks like there is some talent in the squad but also a lack of nerve and character. Big rebuild required. Hope everyone who travelled had a great time.
  19. I played alongside Alex Mcleish and between us we went on to win 77 caps for Scotland.
  20. I think we redefined poor, average and honking this season. Newton is like Pirlo compared to our lot.
  21. Smashing player. Could build a team round him. Wonder if a 100 or so of us could chip in something a month to help the club afford him?
  22. Steve snr has made me feel proud of St Mirren for the first time in a while. Good news stories like this should be coming from St Mirren direct and often.
