I did a long morning’s cliff walk on Saturday at the southernmost part of Britain - The Lizard. we cut inland for a lunchtime beer to a pub that was open... but had no staff.... after a couple of minutes, we wandered on in cold sunshine, passing through a village called Ruan Minor. Mah wummin saw a sign “car parking for Ruan Minor FC”. we followed the crowd (of 5 people) who we saw parking up. A tidy wee ground, brilliant underfloorheated clubhouse with a very well stocked bar, huge slope to the pitch and amazing views across The Channel.... and I settled to watch RMFC take on Mullion. by FT there was a crowd of 60-odd. An already long story cut short - Ruan Minor won 4-0 in their black and white stripes. My new favourite team. i love fitba and serendipity.

Governments, in theory, are elected to enable society to be organised in a way that protects the weaker, the chaotic among us, to be better able to cope. It should be there to help the weak. the current government is hell bent on doing the opposite. Universal Credits abused, distorted and arbitrarily removed; Disability payments stopped; Interference with the setting up of food banks then using them for photo-opps to pretend they care.... all versions of governmental neglect that push some people towards suicide and drug abuse. no need for you to “be sure” of what a government COULD DO, as long as you’re aware of what they are turning a blind eye to - just as you appear to prefer to do.
