  1. I knew I'd get that but it's true. Who else would you actually have had in?
  2. To be fair though, that's the exact starting 11 I'd have picked if everyone was fit. Maybe with the exception of Griffths instead of Fletcher. McLeish was lucky in the sense that he was forced to pick the right team for once. He needs to stick with Robertson at LB. Him and Tierney cant play together. Hope we can just learn that now rather than trying (and failing) for the next 10 years to shoehorn them both in.
  3. Sammy will always be a St Mirren legend for the two trophies he's won with us. Gutted to see him go but good luck to him!
  4. When people comment on tragic events on social media relating to football teams with "rivalries aside from a xxxxx fan" You saw it alot with the Leicester helicopter crash and when she wee boy who was the Sunderland fan died of cancer. "Rivalries aside from a Newcastle fan" Why do you need to mention what football team you support or even say rivalries aside? Just post your message and leave football out of it. Wow that's really great of you to show empathy for a dying child who supports a different football team to you.
  5. More likely is that it always happens and the press are just sensationalising every instance of it at the moment because it's topical. Slightly off topic but they do this all the time with crime rates in London. People get murdered every week in London and have done since the beginning of time but every now and again the press make a big deal about every single murder to make out like its some sort of epidemic.
  6. Ffs. So many people baying for blood on here. Should we bring back the death penalty as well?
  7. There are positives. I'm just pissed off at conceding two goals in the last 10 minutes. The big game is next Saturday anyway. Oran is going to need to come up with something to get more out of this team.
  8. Really? People are reacting like we were playing Barcelona ffs. We got beat 2-0 against a very poor Rangers team. It was better than Wednesday but that's only because how bad Wednesday was.
  9. I think fans do have a responsibility to self police within reason. The incident of the coin throwing the other night is impossible to self police as it happens so quickly and most people would probably miss it getting thrown. But if someone in the crowd is giving an opposition player/manager sectarian abuse for 90 mins I would expect the fans to deal with the guy.
  10. I wouldn't like to see the clubs punished as there is very little the clubs can do to control the behavior of one or two fans. Attempts in the past by clubs to control fans behavior have resulted in punishing the majority and treating normal law abiding fans as criminals. As we have seen ourselves. The crux of it is , grown adults are responsible for their own behavior. That includes inside and outside football grounds. We are all governed by the same laws no matter where we are. Its up to the police to arrest and prosecute people the same way they would do outside of football grounds for the same type of behavior.
  11. I dont like the fact that he seems to have taken the approach from day one in his interviews that the squad are "used to being down here" and that the atmosphere is understandably negative. This is a core squad of players who had been on title winning form for the previous 18 months. We had one bad month prior to OK coming in but in the grand scheme of things there shouldn't have been any doom and gloom. Things have just snowballed since OK has came in and we are now in an absolutely dire situation. I'm am sticking behind him till after January. He deserves the window at least. Here's hoping Nichol can give the place a bit of a lift.
  12. I don't see how that would be a bad solution. Both have got plenty experience and would have as good a chance as anyone of getting us out of this position.
  13. He was on BT Sport tonight doing the Edinburgh derby. I just watched the Facebook live thing they do before the main show and he was asked if he thought he would have kept St Mirren up and If he still stood by his signings. He said he still thinks he would have kept us up and he pretty much dodged the signings question. They said they were going to talk about it in more detail in the main show. Did anyone happen to see it?
  14. The director of football is not a coach. It's not unreasonable to have 3 outfield first team coaches. Jack said last year that the workload was too much for him and James to split between themselves and he would be looking to bring in a new coach to help them. If your issue is that you dont think we can sustain a director of football role then thats a different issue entirely and has been discussed to death on another thread. But in terms of first team coach. We are essentially one down from where we need to be and Jimmy Nichol is a good option IMO.
  15. Gus isn't a coach. The Technical Director was a new role specifically created for him. We lost 2 coaches when Stubbs and Jackson went. Only replaced with OK. So we are 1 coach down on where we were at the beginning of the season. Nichol would be a great appointment IMO. Got lots of experience to help OK and would have decent contacts.
  16. The relegated team from the premier league almost never comes straight back up (County are looking like a potential rare exception this season). We can't go down that same route that happens all the time where the relegated team keeps the premier league players and therefore premier league wages with a view to making an immediate return. It never happens. Look at Hibs, Dundee Utd, Inverness, Partick, Dunfermilne, ourselves etc. It was a minor miracle we got our of that league in only 3 seasons last time. Which was down to our luck in acquiring the services of one of the best managers this club has had. That wont happen again. Make no mistake, if we go down we will 100% be down there for a good few seasons. This fantasy of us coming straight back up is exactly that.
  17. I don't think Kearney knows what he's doing. We are lucky Dundee are so bad which means we can still have a chance of staying up if we put Gus in the dugout now. Give it to Gus. The man knows what he's doing and will sort this mess out.
  18. Time for him to officially run the show then. If theres one thing he knows its how to keep us in this division.
  19. Only 11k there. Very surprised at that. Would have expected it to be around the 17k mark.
  20. Our home form is going to be so important. We made st mirren park a fortress last season and have started well at home this season except the Livi game. Let's hope that continues. No reason why we can't win this game. Defend like we did against Celtic and nick a goal. 1-0 saints I think. Danny Mullen goal.
  21. I want to sit near them now for a laugh Probably more entertaining than the game.
