  1. I would suggest its more a case of them not wanting to give Stubbs any more money to spend based on the standard of players he has brought in so far. If we've got cash, which we probably do, i wouldn't trust him with it.
  2. I really don't agree with that argument. Its along the same lines as the argument people made when they blamed Alex Ferguson for the poor and ageing squad he left Moyes. Judge a manager for what they have done during their time. Ross left at the start of the summer. I don't think anyone would expect to have a premiership standard squad at that point. I have no doubt Ross would have assembled a better squad than this.
  3. We've only been "good" in the second half because the games have been finished by that point.
  4. Jack Ross hadn't had a transfer window by the time that thread was started. We are 4 days away from this transfer window being in the past and something Stubbs can no longer change . It hasn't just been a bad window its been horrendous and a total arse has been made of it. If Smith leaves this week it will further add to the level of disaster its been. I don't see how he can come back from this considering it was always going to be a really tough season even with a good summer.
  5. 18 days is a long time in football. Surely everyone has a point where they start to turn? The worst transfer window dealings I can ever remember in all my years supporting st mirren combined with a few shocking performances has been enough for me to change my mind on him.
  6. The English championship gets a bad name for sacking managers too early and is seen as one of the most cut throat leagues in football. Rotherham were hammered in the press when they only gave Stubbs 13 league games before sacking him. Does anybody actually think Stubbs will get 13 league games at this rate? We are in meltdown mode at the moment and it's only game 3.
  7. It's a binary choice, they either are animated or they arent. Considering there are thousands of football managers around the world its expected that you can point to successful managers who are animated and successfully managers who arent. The point was that a manager doesnt need to be animated to make him any good.
  8. That's not a bad team. Shame Stubbs won't go with that.
  9. They dont have a crystal ball. It was a reasonable enough appointment at the time. There wasnt an outcry when he got the job. It's been a bad appointment - thats it, it happens. I really cant see a way back for him now tbh. The next few games will decide if he can at least keep his head above water for a while without the whole thing going into complete meltdown. If it continues to get worse he will need to go asap. Is signings have been shocking and it looks as if he has lost the dressing room.
  10. Shankland vs a 38 yr old has been??? Hmm I know which one I'd pick. Can't believe the amount of people on here who wouldn't take Shankland. ETA: I'd happily have them both at the club for this season but if it was one or the other it would be a no brainer.
  11. The title of the poll could be changed to: Would you like an extra couple of hundred grand to help us sign a striker to stay in the league? A. Yes B. No
  12. Thats just not what happened. This seems to be the whole basis your argument depends on.
  13. That is inevitable either way. It happened the entire time we were in the PL last time. The OF games are the least enjoyable fixture in the season, primarily because we are not competitive and get beat most of the time. We are as well cashing in on these games so that at least something positive comes out of them.
  14. Good start by County. Can see them potentially running away with that league if they keep the early momentum up. 3-1 away at Dunfermiline who will no doubt be up there is some result.
  15. We've all known they are scum for years now. Nothing new has changed today. I can't for the life of me see how rangers fans being scum can result in you cancelling your direct debit to support St Mirren.
  16. Aberdeen went longer without scoring against them with 10 men last week. It was a bad time to get them. Confidence is high at the moment. When they take a few humpings off Celtic the wheels will start to come off and we will have a better chance of something next time.
  17. Against this level of opposition - yes. But thankfully our season will be defined on our performances/results against last weeks level of opposition where his abilities were sufficient.
  18. Why would they be bound by a confidentiality agreement? Surely SMISA and the members will have sight of the money that comes into the club? Which is exactly my point that you wouldn't be able to keep 1200 people quiet over that.
  19. Yeah, I don't mean the club need to tell the fans, I mean from a SMISA point of view. SMISA members will need to find out a some point. Presumably end of year then.
  20. Any idea when we'll find out exactly how much it was? Surely when the cheque comes in it will be made public knowledge.
  21. Maybe they could have made a Netflix series out of it......Juventus have got one!
  22. I've got a feeling we'll come away with a point. I don't normally think we'll get anything from Ibrox but can genuinely see us getting something here. The games got 1-1 written all over it IMO.
  23. I like his interviews. I think he seems ambitious without getting carried away. Its the stupid questions which make him a bit awkward like "How much are you looking forward to Ibrox on Sunday?" WTF is he supposed to say to that? "Aye canny wait I'm like a kid a Christmas. Can't sleep at the prospect of it"
