  1. Said this on another thread, to me it says we have a replacement in mind or looking to free up the wage to find one imminently, otherwise it would a questionable decision.
  2. The only way this could be a good thing is if its to free up funds for an imminent incoming replacement Stubbs values more
  3. I have no contempt or otherwise for the guy, I hope he succeeds - its in our best interest. My main concern isn't even the lack of signings, more those 'punts' we have signed and a general lack of tactical clarity thus far, however, it is early days, I guess. The thing that confuses me is the argument that 'its pre season & season hasn't started etc'. Fact is its a national cup. Question I asked on Facebook is would Hibs or Aberdeen fans be ok with being punted out the European cup at this stage? As its 'pre season and season hasn't started'. No. They won't. For saints the bet fred cup is and has proven to be an opportunity to get our hands on national silverware, that's where my frustration lies. Not in the pumping from sunderland, no, from the fact that we cannot raise our performance in the competitive games. However, with all that in mind, Stubbs has had little over a month and has yet to finalise his squad and his get to know his current squad - i hope he turns it around, guy deserves a chance to do so, hope the board back him.
  4. It is to early to sack anyone! My concern isn't personally the lack of signings as there is time yet for that, its the use of the players we have so far in a national cup and someone made a good point earlier in that the players look disengaged. Early but not comforting days, I hope he can make this work, its best for us if he does.
  5. Sean Kelly both started the game and was on the bench
  6. haha, big thommo was just showing off his javelin skills that day
  7. I don't think it matters, I am sure he will just linger amongst the bench and reserves until his move to the championship like most promising young players who move to the OF....
  8. I'd rather see him go down south tbh.....
  9. Agree with all the above. There was a part of me thinking that we looked better as Killie were missing a few players (Boyd) and seemed lethargic. All in all, we looked good last Friday, however, the chances we crated and missed are a concern. I suspect you are right in that with the current team we look short of a goalscorer. Mullen works hard and is a good player but doesn't appear to have that killer instinct. Whats not helped is that last few seasons we have been able to make do without said type of striker as we have lots of goals from midfield (Mallan and Morgan)........ Hope I am wrong but I fear we lack in that department.
  10. Yup.... The last part is on my mind. Not long 'till the season starts and would have been good to have a full squad. However, I guess it doesn't always work like that. Lets hope we see some reinforcements soon.
  11. Really?? I don't even know what to say to this lol
  12. Had a think and I agree, got to be this one (based on age as I wasn't around in the 'glory days'). Made so much sweeter in that I couldn't make the game and had to watch it on Sevco TV and the commentator said something along the lines of 'The seats are emptying as the Subway-Loyal have left as we see out this win...... St Mirren on the break, 1-1'. HAHAHAHAHA
  13. What I saw of him Friday, he looked pretty good! Hope his injury isn't a bad one.
  14. I also noted that he didn't say it as I have just become so accustomed to it
  15. Really happy with that, have to admit and good place to build from! coys
  16. Yea, hope so mate. Been a real buzz with saints of late and I guess with all the changes some doubts may creep in. I genuinely hope his plan pays off.
  17. I have been really looking forward to this season.... however, I have a slight concern over the lack of players coming versus those leaving or left. Furthermore, the relatively unknown and untested players is a concern..... Something in the back of my mind makes me think of the Tommy Craig era of signings etc. I hope to god I am wrong and will happily have egg on my face after this! I hope stubbs has a plan and knows what hes doing and trying to achieve.
  18. Colin, I pretty much said the same thing, albeit grudgingly.....
  19. Stop speaking sensibly and logically, there's no room for it here
  20. Fair enough re: fergie, however, the point and I am making is that great players don't necessarily make great coaches/managers and vice versa. Morinhio (controversial, love or loathe hi) has achieved great things as a manager but with a fairly unflattering playing career, and I am sure there are many other examples. And the same will apply to coaching etc, some people have a natural technical ability and can't articulate or teach it, others have less ability and but have the knowledge on how to coach others to improve their game...... Anyway, guys doing well for himself and seems fairly well thought of, good on him.
  21. He did have our most goal assists.... However, each to their own but he is a decent player but think we could attract better.
  22. I think Erhhahon has real potential in particular, hope he makes the step up!
  23. Good luck to him. Good to see ex saints flourish. Yea, he wasn't the greatest player but his lack of ability doesn't mean he doesn't understand the science or the thinking behind the game. See fergie as an example.....
  24. I am also excited for the season ahead, we have come so far in the last year since the doom and gloom. I believe we are a club on the up and I put that down to the commitment of the support, the ambitious board and the club set up. Canny wait to back my team again in the premier league. COYS
  25. I think what makes the home strip worse is white shorts with that design...... We have got a bit Gok Wan lol
