  1. Obviously this has been coming. Successive squads have arguably been getting weaker with each successive season for a long time now, or at least not any better. Even when they've looked good on paper they've not been a significant improvement on the park and who can argue now that the club has progressed? However, I'll probably start going to games again if we are more competitive. But with the talk of cuts will they drop ticket prices by 50% too? That needs to happen before people will come back in numbers.
  2. Stuart Pearce is looking for a job. We'd need an interpreter though. And a collective loss of sanity by the Board. Oh...!
  3. He was offered same dosh as Burton but he'll get a massive bonus of they go up.
  4. Murdo's atrocious, the worst pundit ever, have to turn off, but he's no a journalist.
  5. I tend to agree Teale should be given a chance. The argument that because he's not long qualified as a coach must mean he can't be any good doesn't hold water for me. I have been coached and coached at various levels in football and other sports and some of the best I have seen had zero formal qualifications. Of course experience is valuable, but you don't need to be old to be wise and nouse and enthusiasm count too. He could be a natural coach and there's no doubt about his playing credentials. I'd be more concerned about the change in relationship from team mate to manager but hardly a deal breaker. At the end of the day the real problem we have is the general weakness of the squad which I can't see being sufficiently strengthened in January.
  6. I paid £1.50 I think to see The Ramones who were so rubbish many left the gig early, so taking the piss out of people has been around a long time. Served me right I suppose.
  7. The nineties was awful. I was speechless after Hamarby but what makes the current situation so awful is that it comes after so many bad runs. Each new one gets harder to bear and adds to the collective weight of misery. I prefer to remember the good times.
  8. Cheers for that, but that's me off this forum for good now.
  9. Cheers Bud, clearly I should have said 'infamous'!
  10. 'The good, the bad and the ugly' - Clint at his best. How the West was Won for it's scope and cinematography ( i.e. nice views) and Winchester '73 both for Jimmy Stewart A Man Called Horse - for the nipple winch... Richard Harris did it for real, allegedly. What a man.
  11. Never again, me and a few pals were once lucky to escape with our lives from Whitley Bay thugs. One of the worst experiences in my life, but much worse for one of my pals who can no longer walk. We had the wrong accents apparently. Avoid.
  12. On that showing Hibs should have absolutely no trouble getting out of the Championship straight away next season......down the way.
  13. You've definitely got a point there. Obviously it takes a lot of dosh to succeed at that level, but those kinds of sides somehow feel more fabricated to me, though all team are bought to some extent. City are interesting as they seem to be developing a real team spirit there which makes them more than the sum of their very expensive parts. And I do agree Bale is a fine player no doubt and as quick as a greased weasel, but there's been a cheaty streak there that I find hard to admire. Suarez seems to have put his behind him and is now getting judged entirely on his performances, as I think Bale will be next season. You could argue that the criticism is actually constructive if it helps put a stop to it and the player moves on too.
  14. It was a hard call. Which team to cheer for? An undeniably exciting squad of superstars, but built with cash and containing a diving welsh player who tried to con Scotland for a penalty, or an arguably 'proper team' butwith a horrendous thug of a 'player' turned manager... Nah, for me it was a bit like an old firm game (if you remember when there was an old firm) i.e. just a shame there can't be two losers.
  15. I know a lot of people cite it as Floyd's last true peak (and I absolutely don't doubt they pulled off a lot of great gigs after The Wall - with such a repertoire they could hardly fail, but it and the following albums just never connected with me. I'm sure Gilmour said it was the easiest solo he ever played. Modest chap. Must mention Live at Pompeii - Director's Cut. Fantastic live performances and great interviews and vignettes, apple pie banter and a singing dog. Who could ask for more? Light one up, sit back and set the controls for the heart of the sun... For modern prog Steven Wilson is the man - his solo stuff goes waaay beyond everyone else.
  16. a match made in heaven
  17. sheesh an even bigger balloon Murdo on the radio bigging him up. He's not going to Norwich, it's Neil Adams Why would Larson leave Sweden for Glasgow, he'd be mad. Moyes, no. Would they even want him now his stock's dropped? Coyle would seem the obvious choice. Do I care? No.
  18. For me The Wall was the beginning of the end. A pale imitation and soul-less rubbish in my view (I can hear the howls of derision already...but you know I'm right) and everything since was even worse. Animals was the first LP I bought and for nostalgic reasons alone remains my fav, though it's not their best. A mate of mine once did some building work in the mid 80s for Dave Gilmour. He brought them out a tray of tea, hobnobs and a jazz fag. Top man. No idea how the job turned out after that... Dark Side of the Moon via headphones unbeatable, production perfection. By the way, if you ever get the chance to see tribute band Think Floyd, go.
  19. Hang on. What... we've given them £250k to take him? Now that is a rotten deal.
  20. Hein! We're not immune cf .Port Askaig and the Islay Ferry fiasco.
  21. Bit unfair n the Accies not getting a week's break.
  22. I think actually SG was simply asked the question, and answered it. It's not exactly a secret as the player himself has recently said publicly he'd like a move to english football.
