  1. With everything behind us as far as all the negativity and uncertanty I'm bucking the trend and predicting an unusual easy victory. 0-3 to the real saints.
  2. I think some are missing the crux of this. The lad ASKED to leave because HE felt he was being undervalued. This doesn't mean the Saint's coaches felt he wasn't good. Perhaps just not ready. If he had stayed and worked for it he might have played alongside the others who knuckled down and proved their worth.
  3. Don't concern yourself. Julian's as butch as a (dress)fitters dog!
  4. Wow. Revelation! Sheils is unstable. Who'd ave thunk it? Next thing we know Julian Clary will come out of the closet!
  5. Great news. Hopefully he can fully commit now he knows he's staying. A Gowser free from external pressures and possibly fitter due to abstinance and Newton of old bodes well.
  6. I thought it was just an "o" that was missing!
  7. Gets my vote then. Why would one big wage waster tip another one anyway?
  8. Much as I hope it's not the case, if Paul is "banged up", the club would have every right to terminate his contract. If the choose not to do so they would be paying what must be a heavy salary for a guy who may not be availlable for the rest of his contract. Wouldn't make sense.
  9. Don't they have to lose one to get one? Anyway. Given that it is still arithmetically possible for them to catch teams above them it would set a dangerous precedent to allow them to bring in players. What is deemed as doomed? There are still 51 points availlable. Is a deficit of 19 points the set point? Is 18? 17? 16.......... Rules are rules. Financial cheats are punished. No to changing mid stream, No parole. The club, and their fans, knew they were beating teams with cash they didn't have. JHell mend them if they have to play 11 year olds!
  10. And you found this out how? It's difficult to debate with someone who knows all!
  11. A bit unfair mate. Given that we had exactly the same personnel on show as we did 3 days before and that Celtic had both an extra recovery day and were able to rotate their squad, don't you think that a part of the reason for apparent lethargy in the second half might have been due to fatigue?
  12. One recent incident and TWO red cards in his entire Saints career doesn't detract from the fact Jim Goodwin breaks up play and organises things for us. As previously mentioned many of Jim's yellow cards were dubious at best. The unneccessary elbow deserves to be denounced but a lot of what he does is not only neccessary but essential to our team. If we don't have Goodie we will need an almost clone to allow our young players to do what they do.
  13. I am anticipating the loss of Connor and we've seen the disaster that is Goodie and DVZ trying to occupy the same space. I do get your idea and, if we had the personnel, it could work. McGregor would be a good choice but we would need that "hairy arsed" defender, as you succinctly put it, before we could deploy darren alongside Jim. Even then the jury would be out until we see if the players find all that freedom overwhelming. Footballers aren't always the sharpest tacks in the box and total football is beyond some.
  14. And who would the two holding midfielders be? McGowan can be effective in the midfield role with Goodie holding but, to play your formation, either we lose the influence of McGinn as an attacking force or we are left with Goodie and DVZ behind the three. Neither of which would be my preference. The fact of the matter is that Paul isn't putting the ball in the pokey so we need someone alongside Thommo to do this. Adam Campbell may or may not be the answer but something needed to address our drought. Thompson aside.
  15. With Gowser forgetting who he played for and Newton posted missing for most of the match we probably did better than we should have with one midfielder digging in. I would have even taken Reilly for McGowan early doors. Gave up the middle of the park from the 46th minute and made Cellic's job so easy. First half, although lucky to be 0-0 at the break, we at least showed determination and grit. Kello didn't deserve to be on the end of a thrashing. Two superb stops. Possibly three if the one off the post in the first half was a stop.
  16. No use having pace on the flank if it's at the expense of a supposedly proven goalscorer. Paul doesn't contribute with goals very often. Gowser has had some good performances in the slightly deeper role and he puts a shift in closing opposition down.
  17. Portugese legend Eusebio has died. &1 years old I think. R.I.P. Just noted a thread already inderway. Some fine soul delete or merge?
  18. Nope. Definitely 9 months.
  19. Maybe, with Goodie missing, a 3-5-2 line up would be our best option. (Ready for the onslaught). What about:- Kello Naismith McGregor McAusland Van Zanten Newton McGowan McGinn Kelly Campbell Thompson
  20. OR. It could be a day when the mighty Saints turn on the style and go ballistic! I go to these games, buy the programme and shout myself hoarse in the hope of a memorable day!
  21. Are you sure their careers weren't parallel? Maybe even identical!
  22. The Board know there is an extra place which could end in relegation and, with Hearts and Rangers in the second tier and quite a few nearly teams, a very difficult league to get back up from. Whether DL stays or goes is neither here nor there as far as this season goes.
  23. It's a pity Saints lose good support due to the actions of the morons from the East. Could you not just buy some headphones to let the kids hear commentary rather than cr@p?
  24. Look. I'm in no way anti English. I'm only backing the Aussies because Saints have a connection with them,................. Aaron Mooy!
