  1. Good to see that there are no (and hopefully stays that way) sick jokes in reference to Billy McNeill's illness. Anyone that's had a relative and had to helplessly watch on at the effects of such a horrible debilitating disease will agree. Excellent player and manager and a great ambassador for Scottish football. Regardless of what team you support, I'm pretty sure every Scottish football fan would be delighted to have a man like that leading their team out on a Saturday.
  2. I ordered Peking Duck and egg fried rice...... [emoji85] Ok ok....... I'm leaving
  3. Maybe he wasn't offered the position?
  4. I'm one of those that thought we had a squad that would be top four material at the start of this campaign.
  5. I wouldn't say it's the "actions of a desperate man" Ross has identified the need for change and change he has. Can I ask..... what would you have done? He's had time to assess the players and how they do or don't perform and no doubt if he could have brought players in or let players go before the transfer window, he'd have done that. If he sat back and did nothing he'd have been slated. I'm pretty sure there were players he'd identified to bring to St Mirren that for whatever reason (financial being the main reason) he couldn't. What Ross has done is bring in players to try to keep us in the league for next season. Signings on such a scale are always a gamble, but if it pays off and we stay up he'll be a hero, if it fails and we go down then at least he tried. Keeping in mind......... a lot if not the majority of Saints fans had accepted relegation prior to the January transfer window. I for one back Ross not only to keep us up, but to build the squad going forward into next season. Jack Ross was not my first choice as manager for St Mirren, but he Is the manager and we should give him our support.
  6. No one is saying they'll help..... but the facts don't lie. I'm all for being behind the manager etc, and he has now basically revamped the playing squad. Can JR save us...... I doubt it, as the teams directly above us continue to pick up points, regardless of what we do.
  7. Fair play to yourself and the rest of the Saints fans that are at the game today.
  8. I believe (like most on here) that we expected to see an overnight improvement when Jack Ross took over. On paper we looked a strong side at the start of the season under Alex Rae, that however wasn't the case. Jack Ross has identified the strengths and weaknesses (more of the weaknesses than strengths) and addressed accordingly. Jack has basically stripped back the squad and now built HIS team on the budget allowed and I for one am very impressed with what he's done so far, all be it though it may not be 100% what he had in mind (players identified but couldn't sign and those identified he couldn't move out for one reason or another) So. In my opinion it's a clean slate for Jack and we should ALL get behind him now. Good luck to all at SMFC for the remainder of the season. Let's start moving up the league now. COYS.
  9. "We will be behind you".......... until you make a bad pass. [emoji87]
  10. I'm just glad that Mr O'Brien is not in the same mold as Grant Adam for example when it comes to conducting interviews. I was very impressed with how he came across, couldn't have been easy for him considering he'd just arrived at the club and to play extremely well on his debut, probably the last thing he wanted was to be interviewed. Hopefully he'll look back on his time with saints as the club that put him in the shop window and proved he'd be more than capable of performing at a higher level. As for the fellow that interviewed him, as has been said by others, he's just a young guy learning the ropes so a bit of respect and praise to him as well.
  11. I'd rather see a strong Aberdeen, Hearts or Dundee United.... or all three. If that were the case...... why would Scottish football need a strong Rangers / SEVCO?
  12. I tend to agree with you. We're due a game where everything goes right for us. I'd still settle for a 1-0 to the Saints though.
  13. I totally agree. That's an overall very experienced squad. I've posted on here before that at the start of the season more than most were of the same opinion as me, we had what looked like one of the strongest (on paper) squads in the league. We've gone from bad to worse under JR, the league position proves that.
  14. Maybe it's a ploy by the BOD? Those pesky part timers will be knackered after a hard day's graft, then have to travel through to Paisley on a cold winter night. Hmmmmmmmm [emoji848]
  15. I'm sure I'm not the only one here that thinks this, but looking at the team assembled at the start of the season we looked quite strong. Where it's all gone wrong is anyone's guess. I wasn't exactly over the moon with Rae's appointment, nor that of Ross. Ross obviously knew what he was coming into and would have been up against it unless he could have given us a couple of wins. In my opinion we've gone downhill rapidly since TC took over (I excuse GT from any culpability) then Murray, Rae now Ross. Neither of those four have a positive proven track record at this level. Four bad appointments by the board in my opinion that's put us where we are,
  16. My comment wasn't directed at you either chap, and I apologise if it came across that way. In fact I did have a giggle at your Frankie Boyle style humour. My point was that some posters decided to go off on another direction and have a go at supporters of the old firm because of the connection with the deceased (90% of which in my opinion are good honest footballing people that just decided to follow another team. It seems St Mirren have a percentage of supporters of that same ilk)
  17. What started as a comment about the passing of an ex football player that just happened to play for Rangers, turns into an embarrassing slagging match. Does it really matter what club he played for???? The guy was only 44 and probably left a wife and family behind. It amazes me when I read on here about the disgust aimed toward how the fans of the old firm (yeah, I know someone will pick me up for that) behave. Kettle and pot springs to mind.
  18. Time will tell chap, though we have to give him time. Time up yet?
  19. You never know....... she could have filed for divorce by then [emoji87]
  20. Is it any different (all be it on a larger scale, but the principle is the same) from a Joiner or a Plumber for example doing homers and therefore evading paying tax? So yes, I'd say you're right. It is part of every day life. Let he that is without sin as they say. I don't agree with how the Telegraph have gone about this though, as Sam Allardyce said, it was entrapment from the word go.
