  1. He used his experience and didn't react to the crude challenge. I also noticed him giving away his jersey at the end of the game to one of the fans. A nice touch.
  2. No need to worry Marc won't come back because of all the bellends amongst our support who constantly abused him. He certainly doesn't need the grief he got from a section of clueless morons.
  3. As poor a team that we are, I never felt we were in any danger of losing today. Morton had no idea how to get in behind what has been a very fragile back four of ours. We need to get a couple of new players in to freshen up and boost the squad. No reason why we can't finish above them.
  4. I asked my son on the way to cappielow if he would take a point given last week's debacle against Livingston. We both agreed that a point would do in the current circumstances. We wanted to see a decent reaction and for the players to fight for the cause and re-gain some pride. We got the win so we were both delighted. It wasn't pretty football, but we had a team fighting for everything and totally committed to the cause. Credit where it's due the defence held together well considering recent capitulations, and a special mention for Shanks who took his chance like a true predator, and for Stuart Carswell who was everywhere making and breaking play up when it was required. He's not everyone's type of player, but for all his deficiencies he didn't half put a cracking shift in today. Overall a fantastic and important 3 points Saints. Let's build on it.
  5. Just noticed it on Twitter where many are paying tribute. 42 is no age and not long had a young kid. Always came across like a genuine man on Twitter. Sad news.
  6. Congratulations and good luck with grand parenting duties. It should keep you fit.
  7. Apparently room for 700 visiting fans who get in early enough, the stewards will hand over a voucher to allow you entry into the ramshackle main stand
  8. So all the posters who said that there was no budget left for AR to appoint his own assistant were actually wrong. Funny old game.
  9. Me and my 3 brothers were all standing beside that guy who shouted at Scan, his face was bright red after the response.
  10. Young Baird has been a total Bombscare alongside a much more experienced bomb scare in Webster. If we're not careful with young Baird we could ruin him. He needs a spell away from the first team and a chance to recover his form in the development side.
  11. Decent player who is best deployed at centre back imo. I wouldn't mind Craig Reid signing a similar deal as he looks like he's finding some form in the right back position.
  12. A British rock icon, who lived the Rock and roll lifestyle. RIP Lemmy.
  13. Gow must be on the list of players that Alex Rae shunts out the door this January window.
  14. There have been rumours to say he's leaving Dunfermline in the Jan window, but rumour has it he's heading south to an English side.
  15. I defy anyone to say Mehmet would not improve the current squad.
  16. AR has very good contacts in the game. Mick McCarthy Paul Ince Alex McLeish have all been mentioned and I guess he will have more north and south of the border. Our main problems lie with the defending and midfield, we have no leaders and no physical presence in the team. He somehow has to find a dominant centre back and a similar type for midfield. The spine of our team is actually spineless, if that makes sense. He must make us hard to beat and hopefully keep us in this league. Finding loan players to do this and shipping out anyone who is out of contract or at the end of a loan deal, will prove to be a massive test of his managerial ability.
  17. There's no easy fix for the serious deficiencies within this squad, and AR won't be able to do what's required in the notoriously difficult Jan window. Murray and the board have left us high and dry with a collective shower of sub standard under achievers. Alex Rae will need a miracle to save us from the drop.
  18. I actually thought that Carswell put in some very decent last ditch tackles yesterday, but anything good he does goes unnoticed because the midfield gets totally overrun in every game. I've made it clear in the past myself that I don't rate the boy but there were far worse performers than Carswell yesterday.
  19. Your up against a team devoid of confidence and without fight or character. Nailed on home win.
  20. From what I saw today, Alex Rae has some massive decisions to make about this squad. Aside from the fact that they are clearly not good enough there are more than a few who fall into the unacceptable category of not trying. How he manages to shape this shambolic shower of under achievers into something that resembles a unit, will be his ultimate test. He will have to do some magic in the Jan window in order to save us going by today's performance. The way some of the players chucked it today, leaves me a worried man. I don't think many of the current squad have the stomach for the scrap we are now involved in.
  21. You were going along well with this post, until you mentioned Dickson the good Lord and the word happy.
  22. Is it just me or do some of our support genuinely get a kick out of stirring up unrest. I couldn't give two f**ks if Alex Miller left with his lip trembling. The fact is he made it quite clear that he was not interested in taking the helm so we move on and Alex Rae quite rightly took up his position in the dugout with immediate effect. I'm sure Davie Longwell can adequately perform a dual role with the development squad and assist AR while the club sort out the assistant appointment.
  23. I'm on the Billy Mehmet watch. ☺️
  24. Indeed, I'm on holiday until the fifth of January. ☺️
  25. He's a really decent and hard working young guy who deserves to play at a decent level, his attitude is first class and he never throws the toys out the pram when it's not going his way. Ian Murray didn't bother contacting his agent after his 3 week pre season trial, but Shaun had nothing but good things to say about the club, the facilities and all the players. As a good friend it's great to see him with a good club making progress.
