  1. Agreed. He is 100% correct though to be angry. Had a better keeper been brought in to take his place and it was laid out, that's fair enough. Murray went on record after the Annan game after which Langfield made his debut and publically declared that Ridgers is still first choice. Now by that point he must surely have had in his head that Langfield would be the better option for Cappielow and if he performed there, would subsequently keep his place. So why declare to a national press outlet that the guy who you've dropped will be first choice going forward if you've no intent to even play him again?! So many things not adding up in terms of Murray and his style. He's also gone public several weeks back and claimed that Cameron Howieson isn't a left winger (he isn't).....yet played him on the left against Raith Rovers. It's completely baffling.
  2. Allegedly a sarcastic comment about our 'support' last night. The guy is treading thin ice already. I don't see how you can set that out in the way they did last night and this season and expect unwavering support. To spit the dummy on a public platform over people reacting negatively is showing his complete inexperience and won't get anyone back onside.
  3. No it wasn't. Murray was in Spaldings ear giving him instructions all night. The sub included. I agree though about a lack of experience and possibly ability. Who would look at Spalding on the touch line and possibly be inspired by him? I don't get the point of last night's exercise to let him take the reins. It was ludicrous and not as if it was going to be a cakewalk so a good match to let a young coach cut his teeth. Some of the naivety is quite astounding.
  4. Morgan is a fantastic crosser of the ball as he's shown on the chances he's had in the first team this season.
  5. Shankland made a difference in the final third in his brief appearance on Saturday. Everything sticks to him, he's very skillful and his pass to put Thommo in right before Falkirk's goal was sublime. I'd be starting him on Friday night, I reckon.
  6. No. This is painfully inaccurate, now please stop trying to make points about matches you have publicly stated you no longer attend and let the folk who actually go to games, debate.
  7. I don't think it's close to being a write-off yet. There has been definite progress in the last couple of weeks and hopefully this continues. I genuinely thought at half time on Saturday that he'd cracked it and a lot of Saints Fans probably would agree with this. Yes, he'll rightly shoulder a large portion of the responsibility and in the immediate aftermath I was raging but I saw a lot more to be concerned with in the first two league games than I did on Saturday. That's not to say there was nothing to concern me on Saturday. There was absolutely no reason for us to sit and invite pressure from a team we had comprehensively dominated in the first half and allow them to build belief by letting them be an attacking threat. The subs were bizarre considering we had better options on the bench. His insistence on urging his players to break out from corners, rather than keeping one or two men up the park and drawing opposition bodies out from our box was infuriating as well.
  8. Will it be a decision for the board to make? Danny brought his assistant across from Cowdenbeath and he made the decision relatively quickly that it wasn't working, IIRC. Murray, in an act of self-preservation may see it similarly and decide that Spalding isn't working.
  9. In a similar vein, Fergie started badly with us as well. I'm not for a second comparing the two but I can see good elements in there. It's extremely concerning the manner in which we are dropping out of matches though after good starts and being punished relentlessly for it. I'm still behind Murray for now but I am concerned about the manner in which we're setting our stall out. Saturday was clearly a case of sit in and allow the pressure rather than going on to kill the match off.
  10. Also one of a very select group of St. Mirren players who have scored for us in a national cup final.
  11. We're not much better. £20 is at least £5 too much for this level.
  12. That was brilliant that day. Last minute equaliser at Arbroath. He ran to the crowd who in turn ran onto the park to meet him and his only escape from about 20 fans going off their heads was to climb the stanchion. The fans tried to shake him down and he was clinging on for dear life.
  13. Thompson semi photo is almost iconic to us, but his cup final celebration still makes me well up a bit every time I see it . The face of someone who can't quite believe what he has just done and is instantly overwhelmed by it. It's perfect.
  14. McGarry went on to have a really good career after us, he was at a decent level right up until he retired and has a great life now coaching out in Australia.
  15. A timely bump to remind people that one goal conceded in three league matches (and a penalty at that) it's a fairly decent return. We've conceded no league goals from open play (2 penalties and one deflected free-kick) since the opening night at Greyskull.
  16. Correct. The majority of us who still back Thommo are going to be proven correct in that he won't manage 90 minutes every match, or two starts a week but he's still a very important player for us.
  17. Cracking win, sounded like we were in complete control the entire match.
  18. Sitting in will be our downfall. Get out of there.
  19. That won't go down well with the naysayers. Not at all.
  20. How f**king dare we counter attack from a corner!
  21. Wee Davie from Shortroods by sounds of it.
