simon templar Posted July 13, 2007 Report Posted July 13, 2007 Picked up 'Searching for the Young Soul Rebels' in London this week for a fiver - the 20th anniversary remastered version. Feckin great album. It certainly is... But, I'm telling you, check out the original track I referred to. You will not regret it... Quote

Big Fras Posted July 13, 2007 Report Posted July 13, 2007 Happy Mondays "Unkle Dysfunktional" First album for 15 years from the Salford narcotic munchers - ridiculous stuff, but very enjoyable (just don't expect them to be touring with Coldplay). Quote

Big Fras Posted July 13, 2007 Report Posted July 13, 2007 In fact, It's on now!You put me in the mood!! My favourite of theirs was "Bummed" - a mate of mine opened out the gatefold sleeve on a rush hour train in Glasgow in 89.............. (you'll know why I'm still laughing if you saw the inner sleeve, and imagine him reading the track listing whilst the 2 wee office birds sitting opposite got an eyeful of "The Fat Lady Wrestler" New CD is surprisingly good (produced by Howie , and even includes Ry Cooder on a track called "c**try Music". Touch of class. Quote

Aye, I agree. The Re-mix of Loose Fit was ace, as was 24 Hour Party People. This new CD is varied (to put it mildly), and was CD of the week in Tesco last week (I don't think the conglomerate was checking out the packaging too well though). Worth a punt @ £8.72 ! www.happymondaysonline.com (not for the faint-hearted) Quote

closet saint Posted July 16, 2007 Report Posted July 16, 2007 Freda Payne...Band of gold Reminds me of going to play for the primary school fitba' team doon the racecourse at the start of the 70's. Strange how such melancholy can be part of the pre-teen make up. Still one of the greatest non-punk records I've ever heard. Quote
