shull
It's the British Lions, not Scottish Lions, Welsh Lions, etc best British players should be picked. If Scots are shite then they miss out. Simple If England have the top 30 players, then the Squad should come from them.

If Scots are shite then they miss out. Simple If England have the top 30 players, then the Squad should come from them. It's the British & Irish Lions these days, do keep up.And there are a good few Scottish players who should have been there before the Welsh players that were picked. And there are some English players who should have been there before some of those Scots. And Gatland did the same last time out, the trumpet. Zzzzzzzz It was a penalty that decided the draw, 4 countries couldn't beat a couple of wee islands mostly inhabited by sheep, the " British Empire" (sic) still claim a moral victory and pat themselves on the back. Plus ca change etc

Plus ca change etc Genuine question. How many of the All Blacks starting 15 were born and bred on the North & South islands, and how many were Aiden McGeady types, from various South Seas islands? I could ask the same question of a Scotland 15 picked by Gregor Townsend - how many 'real' Scots, and how many rent-a-Scots who come from Australia, NZ, South Africa, and have a granny who once had an ice cream on Cumbrae after sailing doon the watter for a day trip on the Waverley in 1956. Was a good game though. Not a huge fan of rugby union, but those guys, on both sides, gave it everything.
shull
Had my first Knickerbocker Glory on Cumbrae in 1969. I was there for the Fortnight after arriving at Millport Pier on The Keppel. Was served by an Italian/Scots burd at the nearby Nixe Cafe.

That's a good question, the All blacks have for some time been a mix of South Sea Islanders, Indigenous Maoris and the White descendants of British/European settlers. Since Rugby went professional there have been quite a few countries that have also drafted Polynesian and South African born players in; Australia England and Scotland all spring readily to mind. The match itself was a cracking game of rugby which I thoroughly enjoyed, alhough not as much as Australia v Scotland a few weeks back

salmonbuddie
Some result for Glasgow tonight, bonus point and 6 from 6. Said from the start that the SA teams won't show their best until next season, they've played almost a full season to date and are still in the Currie Cup and without some of their top players.
