Cumbriansaint72 Posted December 1, 2020 Author Report Share Posted December 1, 2020 The problems with Sunderland started in the premier league paying over the odds for average players for that level, once eventually relegated the the parachute payments last for 2 seasons then if you haven't got promoted back up by then it's really is going to be a financial struggle with wage bills,etc. After which teams will either become mid table championship team or end up in a mess like Sunderland. Unfortunately for them they didn't seem to grasp it and gambled again to get out of lg1. It's happened in past with Manchester city,Leeds utd and Southampton to drop down to that level before they get their act together.
