And may I just echo that
Scanlon is one of my top 3 favourite ever players to play for St. Mirren along with McGarvey & McAvennie.
I don't think its too extreme to say that Ian Scanlon was a genius.
His 40 yarder against Celtic to put the cap on an incredible 4-2 over Celtic is possibly the greatest goal I've ever seen scored. I was right behind the Love Street end as it went flying in and that moment was magical.
Ian Scanlon was a player who would get you excited every single time he got the ball.
Ian Scanlon on the ball was a beautiful sight.
As you will guess, there aren't enough superlatives I can use when it comes to this guy. He was the Scottish Cristiano Ronaldo!

I'm not sure of the point of this thread?
in this day and age of bosmans, loan signings and the vast differential in wages between the rich and poor, there is no chance of building a team that will last a number of years.
therefore the age of our squad is totally irrelevant
Drury & plummer are young guys - but so what? What difference does that make to us? They are on loan for 1 year. We need them to do a job for 1 year regardless of age.
john mcginn is young... But so what? He's our best player anyway.
ball is young, but again, so what? If he does well then we'll have him for another year. Did it matter that Steven Thompson was older when we signed him?
this thread is just an attempt ay deflection to cover for a piss poor manager

I'm pretty sure that the "debt" the unionists were referring to was the government's issued gilts.
And I'm pretty sure that you are well aware of the difference.

my understanding is that the club is a private limited company
as such, all transfers of shares must be approved by the board
therefore, while any buy up of shares may be a secret to the saints support at large, it wouldn't be a secret to the board
assuming that is what is happening
my guess is that the number of individual shareholders required to make up the extra 24% is surprisingly low
I wouldn't be surprised if the 51% is already 75%
smisa weren't offering anywhere near £5 by the way

I'm not anti-Tommy Craig and I am sure he deserves some credit for the improvement from Danny's 2nd season on. I'm sure part of the improvement was Danny had a better measure of the league and what was required to... oh and a few other factors would also include signings like Goodwin, Thompson, Teale, Hasselbaink, Tesselaar that season and McLean continuing his progress from the previous season.
