  1. All in the cause of The GREAT unwashed playing the magnificent Buddies competitively for the first time in 15 years....................... just look what we've been missing all that time, the high standard of comedy, wit and je ne sais quoi!!!!!!!!!!
  2. P.S. ............................... and your grammar!
  3. LP, Please correct your spelling.................................... it doesn't become you! "Your wrong there... The real bastards are the multiple alias ones like yourself who constantly try to set saints fan, against saints fan so you can get turned on. Theres no place on here for your hate, take it. Back to the Glasgow clubs. "
  4. If he was on our books for 7 years, followed by Aberdeen for 2 years, 1 at Celtic / Rangers plus the time at the soap dodgers, that means he was 6 when he was on our books................ Shurely some mishtake miss Moneypenny!
  5. I wait with bated breath.................................................................
  6. God there is a fair number of our regulars who have short or even medium term memories. Saints have always been one of these teams that fair scunner you. They intermittently win a cup or a 2nd tier league or they flounder in the lower ends of the top league, but there are periods in our history when we have to re-group or await an influx of better players to get us out of our doldrums. I believe we are in these doldrums just now and may be for a season or two. Does that bother me........... no, not really. I will still go along, maybe not every week, but I'll still turn up, shout, cajole, throw in the odd sweary word, cheer and clap as I have ever since my first visit to Love Street. I hope for the sake of Ian Murray that the Board give him time, no matter whether he gets top 4 this year or not. He should be able to blend a team out of as many trialists as he needs or wants to see and when will that happen, as long as it takes really. So stop expecting too much, learn to be a true Buddie and just accept what comes along.
  7. Why do I get the distinct impression that Lord P isn't really prepared to give Ian Murray a chance? His posts on this thread and others are so painfully slanted that it is almost as though he wishes IM to fail miserably. Maybe he should enlighten us as to who he would have preferred to have as Manager and then we can all put his comments into context.
  8. Light the blue touchpaper and stand well clear!
  9. I do think our team needed a complete overhaul. What has been missing for some considerable time has been a reasonably watertight defence and a group of players who know their way to putting the ball in the net. What I don't expect necessarily is a Gerry Baker or Dougie Somner type forward who knocks in goals for fun, but I do want someone who doesn't panic in front of goal and can lead the line. Whether ST is past his sell-by date is up for question, time will tell this season, but my bet is that Ian Murray wants someone else in that position to give himself some comfort if Stevie is injured (again) or he needs to freshen up the attack during a game. As for the middle of the back line, the jury is still out on central defence. So a 'Webster' type stopper would be great if he can be kept fit, or someone else who can marshal the line. Having that kind of defence in front of the keeper would also make him more confident. So give the manager some time. He seems to be prepared to assess players properly rather than just jumping in, which I prefer rather than wasting a salary on a one or two year contract and it is £30 to £50,000 a year down the drain!
  10. Interesting that the Official Website still hasn't got this up there............................. Either someone is sleeping, or there has been an almighty c**k up!
  11. Wow, a positive new approach from the Board. (1) Not an internal appointment (2) A youngish manager who has cut his teeth in the lower leagues and had a modicum of success (3) He comes with some good vibes. Welcome Mr Murray, I hope you have success and bring this team on and help it bring out the potential that undoubtedly lies undeveloped within the club.
  12. Just the fact that he is classed as a pro footballer is baffling to me but an international one (no matter who they are) is bewildering!! I always thought that you had to get clearance to play in the UK and that was only available if you were of International standard in the country of origin............... so that might explain the only reason he is here in Scotland. It certainly wasn't because of his football abilities!
  13. I do have to say that we have tried very hard to make a pretty simple task of running vertical black and white stripes together into one of the the most visually challenging creations year on year for the last few! The Juve strip is classic. Note the simplicity of black and white stripes being the same size and symmetrically balanced. They can't have intellectual property rights over something as simple as a black and white football strip, so could someone at our shirt supplier please just take 10 minutes of their time when they design our new strip and practically copy the Juve jersey ...............PLEASE!
  14. That's a weird name for a burd. What was her surname? Yes there certainly is................................................... Among the bird world’s most skillful fliers, Cooper’s Hawks are common woodland hawks that tear through cluttered tree canopies in high speed pursuit of other birds. You’re most likely to see one prowling above a forest edge or field using just a few stiff wingbeats followed by a glide. With their smaller lookalike, the Sharp-shinned Hawk, Cooper’s Hawks make for famously tricky identifications. Both species are sometimes unwanted guests at bird feeders, looking for an easy meal (but not one of sunflower seeds).
  15. Ah that would be the Mouldmaster with the red dimples and the lines on the ball that left an imprint on your cold legs for at least a week! Then of course what was wrong with the thick brown leather laced up football which if you headed the ball it was always bound to be the laced section that left this full imprint on your forehead....... yet another week of pain and embarrassment! Seriously, the pitch is fine, but if we were to go down the same route as say the SRU then you get into the half artificial / half grass type of pitch which needs much less maintenance, but still needs cutting. The pitch isn't the problem, it's the players who perform on it that don't rise to the quality of what they are playing on!
  16. A not too surprising outcome for GT, given (1) the circumstances he was appointed and (2) the outcome of our final league position. I personally crossed my fingers with Gary, but I really didn't see the personnel within the playing staff to pull it out of the mire, then with the sale of Kenny at the close of the transfer window, the die was surely set. The club have a history of looking from within to appoint, be that a cost saving exercise, or better the devil you know attitude, I've never been quite sure, but I suspect the former. This time however where would they look within? ST is too raw a chance. By all means keep him involved in the training / background team, but PLEASE bring in someone who has a bit of a track record that can gel the youngsters, make one or two astute signings and bring ST on in the right way (whatever that may be as a football manager - I've never personally fancied the job too much unless it was to pay £1m p.a. and then get me sacked - aye dream on oldster! ). Where do the Club start? What about the Directors making a statement about the future. A simple clear statement that the sale of the club is now on hold until we get stability, a platform to get us back into the top league and then a permanent place in the upper part of that league! There that would give the whole club, including supporters a lift, plus provide an in-coming manager with the knowledge that there is a steady ship on the sea.
  17. Played golf at Loch Lomond GC apparently!
  18. I posted this on the Election thread as well………………….. Ed has declared that the results in Scotland are due to a “surge in Scottish Nationalism”………………… He got that statement so wrong and it fully explains why he has seen an avalanche against the Labour party in Scotland and defeat in the UK. He is so remote from what Labour represent and in the context of Scotland I bet if you asked him where Arbroath was he wouldn't have a clue. Labour voters have been saying for some time that Labour isn't producing any change or improvement for them in Scotland, and definitely they aren't going to turn to the Tories, so what is their natural reaction……………. Vote SNP. It really is a no brainer. If Labour ever want to regain power they will have to re-establish contact with the traditional Labour voter in Scotland, otherwise they will lose them all together - then they really are in the mire! Jim Murphy as such, has no love of the London Labour Party, but he is a charismatic bypass and doesn't inspire confidence perhaps the same way as several previous Scottish Labour luminaries have done. They desperately need a complete re-think!
  19. Ponder on this for a minute………………….. 20. Personally I thought Pirlo was pretty non-effectual the other night for Juventus.............................. maybe that's what he meant!
  21. Yes I voted and yes Aaron got my 10 points.............. it was such an obvious choice. As Rick has said above, we manage to eat each other regularly on this site, but reading this and seeing the national reaction to this makes me proud I voted (as opposed to today in the less relevant election) and that the right result came out on top. I actually had a tear in my eye reading some of the posts about the outcome................. it must be an age thing, or dust having got into my eye! Result!!!!!
  22. I admire your positivity, I also would dearly like to agree with you and have my own fears being completely flattened.................. but I'm sorry this morning (and especially after the Motherwell debacle), my glass is half empty. I particularly like your stat that if we win 66% of our remaining points there is still a mathematical chance of us staying up, that is of course if (1) we can put the ball in the net, (2) not concede as many as we score and (3) then overcome either Hibs, Rankers or QotS in a play off. Given our stats in this season up to this point, I suggest you shouldn't bet the house on reaching the 66% target!
  23. It's good to be a Buddie............................ reading this post from beginning to end brought quite a number of smiles to my face! Conclusion: Shull.............. You had to be on the bevvy when you started the post Slartibartfast: .............. Surprised at your positivity, or is that just another tinge of irony All:............... It's nice to see that there are still some optimists around who have a very active imagination!
  24. Is the charity paying the winner to take the ball off their hands?
  25. Strange timing if true....................... The die was cast with GT's appointment, so why not wait until the end of the season and then sit down with some time to think about it rather than make another rash decision? However nothing would surprise me at present on this Board's way of thinking!
