  1. What I am puzzled with is that he was on QPR's books so he must have shown some talent to make that step up? It could be the pace of the game here, lack of fitness/competitive games or confidence? Time will tell if he is given the chance under new manager and coaches.
  2. Nonsense. Like JR last season, AA will be concentrating on promotion and not a diddy competition that noone is interested in. A quick look at attendances will tell you how much fans are interested. You need to forget last season's game v Raith as much as any other defeat in our history. It's gone, over with, history and we won the Championship.
  3. You really are having difficulty comprehending people giving their views (those in the media) and making statements in the press and other media outlets and others making claims about players going into a huff. As I said before only those within the inner sanctum of Greenhill Road know what really happened re the sacking of Alan Stubbs. The OP may be 100% correct but how do you quantify it beyond media speculation?
  4. True. Those in the media who have commented have simply given their own opinions and how valid they are and based on their own inside info/contacts etc I don't know.
  5. Only stating what others like football media people including Bill Leckie, Michael Stewart and Thommo have said.
  6. Your evidence? Noone knows what happened behind the scenes other than the club and Stubbs(his coaching staff too). Any person in any walk of life can be demotivated if those running the ship lack lack the skills of human resource management. There was a lot more than results behind AS sacking. I am sure any attitude problems (get them at every club) will be resolved by the new manager and Board.
  7. There was a Twitter post this evening claiming there was fighting between players at half time on Saturday. My wife spotted it and trying to find post/source. May be bullshit as much as claiming Ray McKinnon has been offered the job. You know, that Ray who left Morton to join Falkirk last week.
  8. Is it happening because a) the defenders are simply not good enough, b) they are not taking on board tactics such as who to mark etc hence players looking at each other or c) demotivated and/or frightened of making a mistake? I have no idea but the basics of defending which should be coached in training and team talks is not working. Once the team are on the park the manager can only hope they apply the key tactics. If not then questions need to be asked.
  9. As much as we can blame the manager, he is not on the pitch plus these are professional footballers that, if nothing else, should have the basics in how to defend. If they need someone else to explain how to mark a man and defend a set piece then they shouldn't be on the pitch. That's what they are paid for.
  10. Mark Crilley, Jim Gardner or Darryl Duffy???????
  11. And you will either crawl back if we win or go into a prolonged silence. I don't know why you bother. You make the same morose depressing predictions every week. You would have the Samaritans sectioned.
  12. Maybe we will hear about the marquee signings Stubbs referred to? Yessssss, that's a possibility - not.
  13. Whatever happens between now and midnight the club need to make some sort of post window statement on where they consider we are in terms of squad to compete in this league/progress against any plan and back the manager. If nothing then all I can see is fan resentment that will filter onto the pitch.
  14. I hear this meaningless games nonsense every time reconstruction is mooted. What exactly is a meaningless game when 3 points are available and prize money for league positioning? Every league in the world has games where there is nothing to play for at certain times of the season i relation to winning the league, getting into Europe or being relegated/play off. It's always been there in middle table clashes. Only certain teams across Europe (those with money) are likely to be successful and others have attended the top table but never won the major prizes. We had a good league when it was 18 clubs and a time when the ugly sisters were likely to win it each season. Greed was behind the restructuring and is still the case because of the gruesome twosome and a few others wanting a bigger share of a small purse. I would welcome Dunfermline, Morton, Patrick, Dundee Utd, Falkirk and Ayr Utd into our league.
  15. People have bought season tickets every year regardless of how good or bad we were. It's called supporting the team first and foremost. If the team are dross (and there have been more seasons where they have been than not) then we bear it out hoping the club will improve that or the next season. Some fans retain loyalty and buy a season ticket every year as the club is in their blood. They don't quit but, instead, tough it out. They don't go crying for their money back because the team are not successful AFTER 3 league games. It isn't going as some thought but the Board will take whatever action is required if things don't improve.
  16. I know cash is tight with a lot of Scottish clubs but in modern day football £75k is nothing in the transfer market when multi millions is the basic transfer fee in both the EPL and English Championship. Did we really expect a top class or ready footballer for such a small fee (again, in the current transfer market). The fact we paid a fee for a player has fans expecting someone to immediately be ready for top flight football in our league. Clubs are paying far more for players with potential that either warm the bench or are immediately loaned out. Tbh, if the boy was the finished article or a top players he wouldn't be anywhere near our club and cost a lot more than alleged £75k.
  17. He needs a bit more time to finalise the squad. I recall the furore when Soaps and Dunfermline humped us big time early last season. Stubbs at least deserves the first quarter before ultimately judging him. I don't see Man Utd sacking Jose from losing back to back games (incl 3-0 against Spurs) or West Ham sacking Pelligreni after 3 straight losses. New players can take time to gel and some simply don't work.
  18. He does mate, put 10 midfielders across the half way line.
  19. He will do well but may be a bit hot or cold.
  20. A relegation fight after 3 games played and 35 to go? We are likely to be scrapping near the bottom and flirting with the drop but that was always a strong possibility with the big step up.
  21. Could it simply be that we offered a shorter contract than Dundee rather than assuming he didn't want anything to do with us? It is claimed Dundee matched our offer but that may be alluding to wages. Who knows? Noone other than St Mirren and Miller.
  22. Nothing to do with denial. Some on here have a right to retain a degree of optimism (blind or otherwise) just as we did when Jack started and we were performing poorly. It's not happy clapping to get behind your team when the going is tough. We can't all be a miserable and pessimistic as you Elvis. I have supported the team as long as you mate and have seen a lot more dark than good times. It is tough at this point but if we all adopted a stance of complete doom then how does that help the team on the park if we all acted as such. People are still on their holiday and its still August so time to sort things out - either on the park or in the Boardroom.
