  1. fac·tion 1 (fkshn)n. 1. A group of persons forming a cohesive, usually contentious minority within a larger group. Stuart, you are, as usual, twisting definitions to coincide with your inerpretation. I really doubt that you can justify your assertion that there is an organised, cohesive group of St Mirren supporters which is bigoted and intolerant towards other sects. I think you will find that those expressing their opinions are individuals and not members of such a group.
  2. No one seems to have mentioned the fact that Kirk Broadfoot was convicted of an assault, which left his victim with a fractured jaw, at an amateur football game, in 2005. After sentencing Kirk was ordered to pay £750 compensation, was given 200 hours community service and 12 months probation. I have no idea of the details of Gowser's police assault but the damage done is unlikely to be worse than that inflicted by Broadfoot.
  3. I have always thought that a stitch was caused by a spasm( or cramp) in the diaphragm, but was beginning to doubt this. Having conducted an internet search (not Google), I am happy to say that I am not the only one who believes this. http://www.brianmac.co.uk/stitch.htm
  4. "Your score 36% Though your conscience is in the right place you also have a pragmatic streak and generally aren’t afraid to do your own dirty work! You’re no shrinking violet - but no daredevil either. You generally have little trouble seeing things from another person’s perspective but, at the same time, are no pushover. ‘Everything in moderation – including moderation’ might sum up your approach to life." Sounds just like me!
  5. In my experience "cortisone" injections (in fact usually some other corticosteroid) are not given for for "slight injuries". They are usually used for soft tissue injuries which have failed to resolve after approriate physiotherapy. I do, however, know of occasions when local anaesthetic injections have been given to relieve painful minor injuries. Alan McGraw is a very bad example of a player who was given a series of frequent intra-articular steroid injections to his knees, resulting in the eventual destruction of th intra-articular cartilage.
  6. AFIK it was Goebbels who was said to have no balls at all.
  7. Stuart, I have never had any problem with customer service at Argos and on the one occasion that I had to return a faulty item it was replaced on the spot without the faulty item even being examined. It may be that you have to look at your approach to the staff. By the way, the Acts to which you refer are The Sale of Goods Act 1979 and the Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982
  8. Much as I admire Thommo's face fungus he has a way to go to beat the late Jimmy Edwards.
  9. "I've been here for about 16 months now and I believe that we have started an exciting journey towards our ambitions of making this club a regular top six side with a reputation for playing good quality football and developing fresh, young talent. ' I don't see anything in this statement two years ago that put a time scale on realising this ambition. It is really only this season that we have begun to see the full fruits of developing fresh young talent.
  10. Are you really suggesting that Gus's achievements were greater than those of Alex Ferguson? OK, Fergie did not win any trophies, but in four years took the club from the 2nd Division to the top spot in the 1st Division and into the Premier League. He also left a legacy of top class players.
  11. http://www.viplivesports.eu/ This site covers all sports and the streaming is usually excellent.
  12. I am afraid that Tedious Tom is right. This is a pathetic excuse of a thread. There is absolutely no need to vilify two players who entertained the fans and scored lots of goals for the club. Fortunately, I have you on "ignore". Unfortunately, TT chose to quote you. Perhaps you would like to make your comments to Basher in person tomorrow. ......... I thought not.
  13. There is still a statue of Rabbie Burns in the Fountain Gardens unless Google Earth has been PhotoShopping.
  14. I think it highly unlikely that beautiful parnerships end in divorce. If Scots decide to go down the independence route it will be because the partnership is not working.

  16. I wonder if you would be good enough to tell us how much influence Scottish voters have on the Uk currency as things stand at present. I don't think we have any influence with 59 Scottish MPs out of a total of 650.
  17. Been announced that petro-chemical plant is to remain open.
  18. Billy is entitled to his opinion on Danny's managerial abilities but I find it hard to believe that anyone with a modicum of intelligence can take umbrage at Danny's apology and be in the least interested in sports' journalists' Twitter comments.
  19. Much better without his inane comments and unfunny jokes!
  20. Are you really suggesting that everyone who dies undergoes a post mortem examination? In my professional experience most death certificates are written without the benefit of a PM.
  21. At the time I thought Bahoken was fouled on the touchline and TV seems to confirm this. The ball should have been in the Aberdeen penalty area instead of the St Mirren end of the pitch.
