  1. He was at Dundee Utd, then Septic and latterly back at Dundee Utd - I'd imagine he'd have been on a fair wedge, possibly more than we can afford. No doubt he's a good player though.
  2. I watched Queen's Park vs. Clyde on 3rd January and was impressed by the Queen's right back. He looked to be at least as good as 2 previous players in that position that have gone on to better things - Paul Paton and Paul McGinn. They've got nowt up front though. Clyde had a midfielder by the name of Shuggie Murray strutting his stuff and just in case you're wondering, yes, he did get booked.
  3. Hamilton promote from within; Martin Canning has been coaching their under 20's in much the same way that Alex Neil did before he took over from Billy Reid. I can't find a bookie online offering a next Hamilton manager market otherwise I'd be having a few bob on Martin Canning. Edit - just spotted on the BBC website that Martin Canning has been appointed Hamilton's caretaker manager, probably explains the lack of betting opportunities. Damn.
  4. RIP Arthur. Don't think we'll see his like again.
  5. The thought of Dunfermline fans leaving their game hearing we were trailing 1-0 and they would be top of the league but then a few minutes later turning on the car radio to hear we were now 2-1 up still makes me smile.
  6. Dermot Desmond and Tom Farmer to name a couple of owners take this approach. Whoever was running the club on a day-to-day basis would need the authority to make decisions especially involving spending some money in a speculate to accumulate way e.g. advertising the facilities we have for hire.
  7. Don't mind if it's not a knight in shining armour that takes over from the 'gang of 5', just someone or a group of people with some energy, enthusiasm, vision, ambition, determination and such like - all things the current shower are lacking. History will judge the period from the ground move to present along with the financial implosion & struggle/relegation of 3 of the 5 biggest clubs in the country as a missed opportunity. Inverness, St Johnstone, Partick and now Hamilton have all been promoted after our last title and gone shooting past us up the league. The blame starts at the top and works down from there. Like most of the posts/posters on this thread I just can't build up any real anger anymore just apathy, resignation, self-pity and helplessness. It is indeed an utterly pish state of affairs.
  8. Just noticed this Opta stat - John McGinn (St Mirren) has been fouled more often than any other player in the Scottish Premiership this campaign (28)

  9. Just stuck a few bob on Jim McInally to be the next manager to leave his post in Scottish League One at 12/1 with BetVictor. Peterhead had 3 men sent off by half time on Saturday while there's a chance one or two others may be taking a rest for a game or two thanks to the SFA Compliance Officer due to some posts on Twitter concerning one of Dunfermline's players after Saturday's game. Apparently Peterhead FC is an unpleasant place to visit these days where they used to offer a warm welcome to visitors with McInally being the prime cause. Their results haven't been great this season so 12/1 may be worth a tickle!
  10. A couple of bets on to cover the law of sod in Paisley tomorrow afternoon. Anytime scorer: G Harkins 7/2 Bet365 P McGowan 5/1 Coral Hopefully both fail miserably.
  11. Must be a fairly length ban heading his way now.
  12. Locke is supposed to be heading for the assistant's job at Rugby Park to work with his chum Alan Johnston which is why Sandy Clark recently exited stage left. If Mr D Lennon did get the job at Grangemouth then it would surely be short odds on us drawing them in one of the cups.
  13. He's one of 10 released by Hibs. Surely no-one in Scotland will be daft enough to sign him - expect him to turn up at Dens Park next...
  14. I hope the family of Douglas Rae have hidden all sharp objects from him as that's 6 potential money spinners Mor*on are missing out on. Oh well.
  15. Always good to know things are bubbling away.
  16. BetVictor's latest odds: Barry Ferguson 1/1 Ian Murray11/8 John Collins8/1 Steven Thompson 14/1 Owen Coyle 14/1 Gary Teale 14/1 Gary Bollan16/1 David Weir 16/1 Steve Clarke 16/1 John Hartson16/1 Tommy Craig 20/1 Gary Locke 20/1 Billy Stark 20/1 Chris Sutton25/1 Kenny Shiels 33/1
  17. I imagine Callum Davidson is being groomed as the next St Johnstone manager. We would do worse than follow their line of thought when appointing a manager; Stuart Cosgrove on Off the Ball outlined their criteria a while back, something like: - Young, hungry ambitious individual looking to do well then move on to bigger and better things - Experience of playing at the top level ideally in Scotland and England - Loads of contacts as a result of the above point Derek McInnes, Owen Coyle, Steve Lomas and Tommy Wright all fit the above as does Callum Davidson. McInnes, Coyle and Lomas all earned St Johnstone compensation when leaving too. As an outsider I'd throw in Ian Cathro. He started coaching youngsters in Dundee as part of a business he set up on his own; Craig Levein was very impressed and gave him a role overseeing Dundee United's youth set up (credited with developing Armstrong, Gauld and others). He then moved on to a similar role with the SFA before being offered a first team coach role with Rio Ave in Portugal by a guy he met while doing his coaching badges at Largs. He moved to Portual, learnt Portuguese and ended with Rio Ave qualifying for Europe after having their most successful season ever. Rio Ave are the Scottish equivalent of maybe Hamilton Accies with crowds of about 1500. I doubt many Scottish coaches could move abroad, learn the language and be a success. This guy seems to have excelled in every role he's had despite never having played football professionally and has complained in the past of the clique that meant he doubted he would get a chance of becoming a manager in Scotland. It would be a risk but I think worth asking if he was interested. It would certainly be more imaginative than some of the contenders.
  18. Just as well we're not in the play-off then if some of the players are already on holiday. I wonder if any of the Hibs players have had to cancel holidays.
  19. After that decision a well known poster on this site shouted "Gowser, she's a policewoman... kick her!!"
  20. And the sun will shine directly on to the screen so we probably won't be able to see it. Booooooooooooooooo.....
  21. Those were my exact words when I head Chick reveal this on the radio. Paul Hartley is on Sportsound too and when asked what he thought having seen Novo play against Alloa commented he thought "it was a strange one" - manager speak for you've got to be kidding or words to that effect.
  22. Good addition to the squad if he's got pace and scores goals but taking the team line up and performance against Dundee Utd as the yardstick, who is he going to play instead of or will he just be a substitute playing 15-20 minutes here and there as that's not really going to develop him? Hopefully this won't result in a reshuffle just to accommodate him in the team that ends up with John McGinn on the bench.
  23. I believe St Johnstone were delighted to get rid of him in the summer and as a former West Ham captain he was unlikely to win over the natives at Millwall. A strange appointment in the first place.
