  1. So if, as you say, no club has been able to enforce a properly contested contract extension then there is no legal precedent then your argument would require it to be in Statute. Perhaps you could direct us to the Act of parliament where this is written into UK law? In any case, when it comes to the year end, the club are going to take up their extension and if someone else comes in for him a transfer fee will be required if he wants to go. I imagine somehow along the lines of when a development fee is required if the club have offered a new contract. So, we are running away ahead on hypotheticals I'm just going to enjoy watching him for the rest of the season and if he's here next year then magic. Signing off
  2. So not an actual example? I was really looking forward to the actual example and all you have done is use an example which does not fit the criteria under the discussion you started. Go on, have another go
  3. Specifically, it states that any player who signed a contract before the age of 28 can buy himself out of the contract three years after the deal was signed. If he is 28 or older the time limit is shortened to two years.[ You do realise that Mr Davis's contract is for a period of less than three years? The defence rest's their case m'lord
  4. Love the picture of Tommy on the cover, a foot off the ground studs up
  5. Sutton or Stewart? I'd like to see more of Stewart. He looks really good with the ball at his feet and can also win high balls which is a big problem up front when neither Sutton or Stewart are on the field. Unfortunately I think Sutton days are numbered.

  7. It is discrimination if the rules say "you can't play that player because you don't have enough young players in your team". You can argue away to your heart's content but at the end of the day if the rules say you can only have so many of "this" type of player in your squad then it is discriminating against others who do not fit "this" criteria.
  8. Until youngsters are instilled with the belief that they are equally able with both feet and develop a high level of close control we are doomed as a footballing nation. Watching the Brazilians the other night at Wembley it was apparent that they are comfortable receiving the ball from any direction and are able to pick out a pass or shot with either foot. I don't think they are naturally gifted enough that this is raw talent, I believe this is learned and anyone given the training and practise can learn these skills. Maybe I'm wrong but it really bugs me that quite good players will not touch the ball with the wrong foot and are therefore more easily defended against.
  9. The length of time players sign contracts for now means that teams need to be successful straight away. There is no 3 year plan. If we don't do well with the current crop of players this season we will have a different crop of players next season with which to mount a challenge for the league. The days of three year team builds is long gone in the lower divisions.
  10. I don't think the problem is being unable to accept money. It is the issuing of smart cards. How do you know it is not being immediately. Addressed? I think you are being a little unfair
  11. Hurrah, I managed to get in on my iMac bought and paid for in Firefox.
  12. Is the season ticket webpage down or is it because I'm using an iMac and iPhone?
  13. I am surprised that this was an enlightenment. What he says I would have thought to be basic match preparations! http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/39793314
  14. What I'm saying is that people with no ambition stay within their comfort zone. People with ambition will try a harder role when the chance arises as they want to step up a level and prove that they are better than what they have already done. I think any player who looks for a move to a big club to hover around the fringes is taking a superb gamble that they will not be out of a job when their contract expires. Personally I think if he had no ambition he would have signed the first contract extension he was offered, but no, he wanted to try and get a better deal just like people in all walks of life who show ambition.
  15. On the contrary, This shows huge ambition. The player is risking a lot to go to a bigger club where first team football is not guaranteed. You would need to show a huge amount of ambition to take on a job on that basis. He clearly want's to be a successful player who earns a decent level of money from the game. You can't hold him back from that and cite that he has no ambition!
  16. I see they have given up too with them announcing their final 'electric' tour later in the year
  17. If it was his second cruciate injury then yes maybe, however if only one of his cruciates has gone the other is likely to follow suit. Darren McGregor and Allan Russell spring to mind
  18. Looking at the replay it looked like the Saints defender played the ball before scything the Celtic player down which in those days, if I remember correctly, most refs would have waved play on.
  19. Woul it be worth hiring Hampden if they need to win it to win the title? That would be a nice payday
  20. That's what we said the last time.....,,,,,ahem!!!!
  21. Which ones? I wanted him to stay and I'd have him back in a minute. Attacking players usually make managers who attack with flair and supply the ball to the forwards. Defensive players usually make managers who defend a nil nil and hope to 'get lucky' up front when the goalkeeper punts the ball to the forward (note the wording there -'the forward')
  22. The ideal candidate is available now and with a win ratio that would make your eyes water http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/35005713
  23. That's totally unfair on Katie Hopkins
