pozbaird
Dundee still has a Pancake Place. Worth driving to Dundee simply to re-live the old days of two pancakes, mandarin orange segments, two blobs of Cornish ice cream and a drizzle of maple syrup. Pancake Place aside... get your arse out of the dump and over to St Andrews.
Drew
Half an hour to St Andrews. That would be well worth the journey. Lovely town.

salmonbuddie
Hah! You KNOW I was being cool and down with the East Neukians. Well you would be if it was known by them as Anster....but it's actually spelled Ainster. And even then, it's split into Easter and Wester. And Cellardyke. But all three are better than Dundee.... bluto
Well you would be if it was known by them as Anster....but it's actually spelled Ainster. And even then, it's split into Easter and Wester. And Cellardyke. But all three are better than Dundee.... I know it well. The Anstruther Fair supplied William Tennant, born and buried in the town, with the subject of his poem of "Anster Fair." And all two of Anster and Ainster ARE better than Dundee.. salmonbuddie
That was early 19th century, bluto. I appreciate that it may well seem like only yesterday to you but it's actually some time ago and spelling changes over time. Nowadays it's Ainster.
