From what little I know of the circumstances of this one, it seemed a somewhat irregular mechanism whereby Dick was absolved of any responsibility. I'm not entirely clear as to how closely her role was scrutinised.

In any event, you'd have to wonder if this is a wise appointment in terms of PR and trust. It is unlikely to engender a sense of ease in anyone who is cutting about London who happens not to look Western European in heritage and is wearing a backpack....

I understand this, who was this person or was it a spur of the moment decision by the guy with the gun?

This was kinda what I was asking. If she was cleared who was held accountable?

Often, the person at the head of the chain of command will fall on his or her sword when there is a catastrophic failure in an organisation. Whether or not Dick directly granted permission for the victim to be shot (7 times, in the head), she had overall accountability. Worryingly, Dick seemingly said subsequently that she wouldn't have done anything differently.

Not come across this?

Your point about people at the head of the chain is mute as it's clearly a decision based on many factors.

You obviously, for some reason, feel she's not the right choice.

I don't know this woman but she must be highly though of to be given her current position in a career still dominated by men.

It certainly isn't mute.

It may, however, be moot.... :P

I don't have a hugely strong view one way or another, but I'm not sure if its the most prudent appointment given the circumstances. I take your point about the glass ceiling, however.

i have no knowledge whether she ordered the killing however if you read the link you posted it makes no reference to her ordering his assassination. If fact it states that she ordered the suspect to be detained as soon as possible. Before she handed the operation over to the specialist firearms command.
