Excellent result. Cram and Foster giving it the 'this won't worry Mo, this pace suits Mo, Mo is in control here, none of these guys can outrun Mo, no-one can beat Mo with a slow pace like this.... Mo got beat. Him and Lewis Hamilton, just love seeing the smug grin wiped off their faces.

Who?

You're on the wine again........................

The reason Mo Farah is king at the 5,000 and 10,000 metres on the track is because the top Kenyans don't compete in these races because there is no money in it. The top Kenyans run the big city marathons to earn a living.

Mo Farah makes a living out it because he is British and gets sponsorship, endorsements, advertising deals, etc that aren't available to the Kenyans.

Mo Farah bodyswerved the Glasgow Commonwealth Games as early as 2013 when he said it wasn't a priority, he would run in the London marathon instead. Mo Farah then claimed illness kept him away from Glasgow, but he managed to turn out at money-spinning Diamond League events. Mo Farah, when he spouts off about his love for the British public, really means the London public.

Usain Bolt turned out at Glasgow, and Usain Bolt turned out this week in London to give it a shot.

Mo Farah can do one... IMHO. Glad the wee chunt got beat this week in his last track race. Now he's spouting off in his press conference about how the press constantly tried to belittle his achievements. Bitter wee chunt. Again, IMHO.

It's definitely true that they can make a whole lot more on the marathon circuit. No doubt about that. But top level athletes at all track and field sports in Kenya can make a good living if they perform well. After the major championships (Olympic and World Championships), all Kenyan athletes are given substantial prize money for getting a medal, and a reasonable amount for making the final even if they don't get a medal. When added to other meet prize money, it is quite possible for a reasonably good Kenyan athlete (average finish 3rd place) to earn around $60k-$80k a year even without endorsements. Certainly not big money, but a reasonable living.

The marathoners though indeed can treble or quadruple that. Still, Kenyans are always there or thereabouts in every distance event from 800m up to marathon.

Big money by Kenyan standards!

But, main point though, the marathon attracts the very best runners from Kenya, leaving the door open for Farah.

That's not to say that Farah isn't top class. He is!

That's absolutely spot on. I remember liking Farah a lot less after he "swerved" the Glasgow commonwealth as it was clearly beneath his priorities.

I saw Paula Radcliffe saying that she thought Farah would do a city marathon instead of the Commonwealth Games because they clashed and he has all the medals he needs ( I paraphrase), that really reflects her views on her career, seldom missed the big payday but not always at her best in the global championships.
