  1. If there was anyone at St Mirren just now capable of making a difference wouldn't we have seen some glimmer of hope? There is nothing that I can see.
  2. I would pick Susan Boyle ahead of any of the options available within our own club.
  3. Ian Mccall looks like the outstanding option but I doubt he will come. I think he is a loyal guy and will see it out at Ayr..
  4. I think they are right. How can anyone feel motivated when the BOD is sucking the energy out of the place. The BoD should disband the Douglas Street gang and allow new blood to come in. Holding out for an unrealistic price while making poor decision after poor decision is killing this club. Ian Murray was not St Mirren's biggest problem.
  5. I hope McCoist and McDowell pony up £500k pocket money, get rid of this Board, appoint themselves as the management team, bring in some journeymen and get us out of this mess.
  6. I haven't seen anything to suggest that Miller will make a blind bit of difference. Crap tactics, unfit players and spineless performances. This season is now all about avoiding relegation and that will be a struggle with this group. If Murray goes I hope we don't promote anyone from within as they are all culpable in this shambles.
  7. Doubt the BoD will sack Ian Murray. Quite apart from the fact that they have lost their collective mojo and clearly can't pick a decent manager anymore they value and enjoy their "good guys" reputation amongst the journos and pundits more than the opinions of the fans.
  8. Mccall or wee Danny for me. No more boring defensive tactics and big punts up the park. Let's see some attacking football that's worth watching.
  9. It looks more like a gathering of random individuals than a squad and it's certainly not a team.
  10. I know it's a short career and all that but it would be refreshing to see a player actually want to stay with St Mirren. It seems that as soon as a development player makes the first team he is all about getting a move. I'm sure the cash delights the BoD but it just continues the downward spiral of the quality of football now on offer in Paisley. It also creates a disconnect between the fan base and the team.
  11. Does anyone remember a while back the wee 7 or 8 year old St Mirren ball boy getting ballootered on the chest by the ball and when he burst out greeting a sympathetic voice from the West Bank shouted "man up you"
  12. Good to hear and I don't doubt it. I'm sure these young guys are genuinely hurting and they seem to have zero confidence. It's tempting to lash out at the current team but the crap home form goes back to 2013 and the BoD gambling too much on youth. Ian Murray is struggling but we shouldnt underestimate how far the rot had set in when he took over.Tough times but hopefully the team will find some spirit and get through this.
  13. Add to the mix said sub striker comes on loses possession from a decent pass and Morton go up the park and score. It's just utter crap.
  14. Not saying Levein is a smart manager and I agree he was a complete disaster as Scotland manager but I think he is a smart guy and a very effective Director of Football. He restructured Dundee United and is doing the same at Hearts. I don't know enough detail about the guy but it strikes me that Gordon Smith might be the type that could be an effective Director of Football supported by a decent manager, decent coach and maybe Alex Miller as a head scout. Bound to be shouted down by the live within our means argument but we are either a serious football club or we are not and currently we are a joke.
  15. Great post. Hearts look like a great example for us to follow. Initial worries would be: Our BoD isn't as good as Hearts and is to prone to making mistakes. Gilmour isn't as smart as Budge and Miller is no where near as smart as Levein. The model looks like the way to go but we would need the right people to make it work.
  16. Didn't think I would find anything to laugh about on here today but we'll done LP and congrats to Senga. Hope her cooking has improved after 20 years in the top flight.
  17. We are a club in crisis and this looks like the last throw of the dice. Miller wouldn't be my choice. I thought he was a very poor appointment last time. The circumstances are of course very different this time. The first team squad is really poor and much worse than it was when Miller last managed us and he has been able to operate at some very decent clubs so who knows how much better he is as a coach. For the club's sake I hope this works but I suspect our loyalty is going to be tested to the limit for a long time now.
  18. Got to hope that extra drills and extra fitness sessions is top of the manager's list. Decision making was chronic. There was no pace to our play today and we certainly didn't look any fitter than Alloa.
  19. I agree. The ref was fine today. I don't know if Ian's strategy is to build from a strong defence and he feels we need 2 sitting in front of 4 to achieve that. We seem to play very narrow and never get wide men behind the opposition defence. We are missing big Jason's overlapping runs and McMullen 's skill. Watson and Sean Kelly just don't get forward enough for me. I hope the manager can come up with a plan and get some confidence about the place. His own confidence must be shot to pieces.
  20. That and the West Bank counting to 10 for a ref that can't count to 8.
  21. Just listened to Jose in his post match interview and his description of Chelsea's problems is so similar to ours. He says he has good players but the confidence is so low that one set back leads to a complete collapse. Jose thinks Chelsea need to be 3 up at half time to stand a chance of winning a game. That's from a guy who manages a team that were champions last year. I can only imagine how low our dressing room must be. Don't have Scooby how to change that and Ian Murray looks to be scratching his head as well.
  22. Have to agree. This is a poor squad of players. We have had a couple of 20 minute spells of decent passing since the pre season friendlies. The 3 youngsters you mention are talented. Jim Goodwin and Andy Webster can easily operate at this level but the rest haven't offered anything this season. We are a club in crisis. This is looking like yet another season where we need to have 2 teams more shite than us to be safe. I had thought we would be at least spared that.
