  1. Happy with this appointment, he seems to be quite a steely and determined character with enough presence to command respect from the dressing room, his playing and coaching career have also been decent. I would also hope that he would clear out the BODs man in Mr Miller, and bring in his own men. Couldn't care less who he supported as long as his full efforts are in lifting us out the mire. Welcome to St Mirren Alex.
  2. I believe this is the type of steely determined candidate that our club should embrace, he certainly has the energy and presence coupled with some real playing experience. As for the Bevy merchant, alcoholism comments: sometimes overcoming serious addiction issues strengthens and humbles individuals..he's up there for me in terms of suitable candidates.
  3. I await the next BOD calamity appointment: Miller and either Langfield or Thommo, that would be a disaster. Why not take a calculated risk in securing a decent experienced candidate with the "risk/reward" scenario of increasing their share value, rather than the cheap capital crash appointments of the last three managers! Let's look at Stuart McCall or experience alongside someone like Mark Burchill, perhaps Jim Duffy? Miller doesn't have the energy to lead this team out of trouble.
  4. Can you really imagine this clown being at the helm of a team challenging for promotion! No chance, he hasn't a clue what to do, the job is far too big. 15 games played and 12 points...fantastic eh, Murray really knows what he's doing and we should all be very optimistic based on previous form..
  5. Sturrock is in my opinion, in the same mould as the likes of Bobby Williamson, Craig Levein, Jeffries, Calderwood...journey men who are eventually found out with not a lot left in the tank to offer the game. There has to be someone fresh out there with a balance of experience, McCall or an upcoming Burchill? Someone who is not again propelled through the ranks to their own detriment, eg Craig then Teale and Goodwin. BOD: don't consider Thompson or Goodwin at any level of our coaching team.
  6. Mallan is not yet ready to move in January, he's far too inexperienced. If this utter dross continues and Murray remains at the helm of the mayhem then a move at the end of the season may be on the cards. The system that Murray attempts to deploy totally wastes this young talent, he's isolated in midfield as no-one is there to support.....Our remaining midfielders like to pair up with our central defenders in the "Blockade" formation and isolate Mallan and our strikers, no wonder there's not enough chances created!
  7. Butcher or McCall for me, another one performing well this season on a shoestring budget is Mark Burchill, if only the BOD would have done their homework pre diving in for the latest disastrous appointment! How long must we put up with Smithers and Montgomery Burns?
  8. Our management duo really are Smithers and Montgomery Burns! I'm sick to the back teeth of Murray, totally inept in all departments with the exception of hand clapping on the touchline. Strategy, formation, personnel, media conferences, leadership, morale.....all alien to him.
  9. I can only hope that if knocked out of the cup come Saturday, then the BOD have the courage to dismiss Murray. This guy and new sidekick "Montgomery Burns" are not the way forward, they may steady the ship and secure championship survival, what use is that to a club who should be pushing for playoff positions. As for Thommo: completely finished, should concentrate fully on his sportscene gig.
  10. Murray is a complete imposter, he won't learn from Millers influence as there would need to be a level of passion, concentration, desire, motivation on his part. He has shown none of these attributes during his tenure. Of course I want a win on Friday, we can all see through Murray regardless of the outcome.
  11. Shankland came on the park and immediately looked more dangerous than Thompson had been all game. He's strong and direct and not scared to put in a challenge. A captain should surely look to contribute on the park. Shankland and Gallacher partnership is the way forward for me. Murray started the campaign with Thompson up front on his own, coupled with a six man defence. What an enormous space between front and back with no midfield support. He has then spent the interim toying with the midfield and is still clueless as to the best formation and personnel. At least he now plays two upfront...until we score that is then backs to the wall defending a slender lead for the remainder of the game.....Murray has got to go!
  12. Stuart McCall anyone? Or is that too heavy a budget and optimistic for our BOD to consider?
  13. Is there a song that starts " standing clueless on the touchline hand clapping with a vacant look on my face"? Since I'm a Smiths fan what about: Panic, I know it's over or heaven knows I'm miserable now.
  14. My opinion: Goodwin was a passenger and he new that right from the start. McGinn and Fyvie totally outmuscled and outmanoeuvred him. Agnew had a few shots and at least tried to push up and close their midfield. Thompson was also a passenger, moaning at others when his lack of involvement, movement and touch caused us problems. We need a captain who can contribute on the park. If Mallan is to play then we need someone alongside him, a type of enforcer/holding midfielder who can keep up with play, hassle and provide some real dig. We don't have this and Carswell is no where near it. These are issues that the manager should have been addressing inclusive of formation, strategy and on-going tactics.
  15. I'll pay Murray's taxi fare! What was that all about yesterday...the silly child like hand clapping to inspire our team was all that he could muster. The substitutions were shocking, are we ever going to pair Shankland with Gallacher? He then takes Agnew of when Goodwin was on a yellow and nowhere near either Fyvie or McGinn in the midfield tussle. I'm gutted, this season has been a disaster thus far and I see nothing from our manager in promoting a change in player mindset/morale. Murray needs to learn and gain experience as a number two, he isn't ready for this level yet. Hibs were decent today, the best I've seen from a championship team this season, we were lucky that it was only four.

  17. How does the new set-up work? Does Murray continue to kid all that he has the respect of the players whilst never exhibiting any form of leadership/presence? Is Murray now a puppet to the experience of Miller and will the players now pick up on this farce further devaluing the manager? I want our team to progress up the table, I can't understand how this can happen though with this new set-up and Murray continuing as our front/manager.
  18. Murray is an assistant coach at best. His body language, presence, tactics, formation and strategy during play all sadly lacking..how on earth can he motivate and lead? At the post match interview he couldn't even make eye contact with the reporter/camera, is this a sign that confidence is low and the scale of the job massively underestimated? Look at the job Mark Burchill has done so far this season on a much lower budget, low gates, part time etc. I think he may well be one for the future and with an experienced No2 would show longevity to a club. Someone though is identifying decent players, our squad has vastly improved this season.
  19. Murray and Spaldings start to the season was reflective of two amateurs trying to secure safety for a part time outfit in the championship, we are not Dumbarton and I now believe that they have finally come to realise this. We are not about shutting up shop and trying to defend slender leads against part time opposition, we should be punishing these teams and putting games to bed. He looks to have binned the 4-5-1 ( isolating Thompson system) and playing a 4-4-2 which suits our flair/pace and youth. I can only hope that he starts Shankland and Gallagher upfront as a partnership more often. He has bought himself some time in my opinion.
  20. Langfield has had a bit of an inconsistent start, at times a great shot stopper, at times a flapper at high balls and doesn't command his area well enough. His kicking also leaves you with a nervous disposition at times. Always guilty whilst at Aberdeen in being able to throw in numerous clangers during the season. Should be well enough equipped re experience to cope though, let's hope he concentrates fully on the job as there is no one else to push him.
  21. Had forgotten how good Cast were, thoroughly enjoyed the gig on Friday. I went to see Johnny Marr in Kilmarnock recently, met the man after the show, class act and inspiration to many. Roll on status quo at the Hydro in December!
  22. Well if you can't be slightly tongue in cheek re the current management team credentials then you need to chuck it, lighten up pal.Ps- I still think Chic had more skill and passion in his big toe than the current negative duo combined.
  23. After working closely with Jim Duffy, would this legend be a valued addition to our set-up?
  24. What a lot of nonsense....bad luck? Formation, Tactic, Personnel, positively... Some key ingredients in making your own luck
  25. Fantastic, all going well yesterday..scored a great goal then the clueless duo shut up shop! What ever happened to entertaining the fans and pushing to extend a 1-0 lead against part time and lower league competition. We could have Ronaldo in our team and even he would be isolated in our " 5-5-1 " shut-up shop and negative style! How can the flair and youth develop when playing such a system when constantly forced to defend. Bring in Chic Charnley!
