  1. Sorry Oaksoft, can't resist reposting these, although it gives me no cheer. Fortunately for me, the coward that I am, I had pitched my expectation at a level less than I suspect your goodself. At the end of the game I was still disappointed the way things had turned out. I did stay till the end and can only imagine it was those who were buzzing beforehand who left as soon as the second goal went in...................bit disappointed with that too. Anyway, 10 games to go, and as you say, not impossible. I'll be there, with reality head on, supporting the team till the end.
  2. Lets not get too carried away Yes, Wednesday night's performance and result were great, and we were good for 60 minutes yesterday, but we are not out of this relegation battle yet. Indeed, all these plaudits from others will just be the spur that teams like Raith, Dumbarton and Dung need to raise their game against us. In my view, we are going to have to be as good as we were in the last two games for every game forthwith. Remember, it only takes a couple of bad decisions, a couple of injuries (God forbid Stephen McGinn getting injured) or a bit of bad luck to change things for the worse. That said, so much happier with things now than before the window and hopefully we will do the needful in the weeks which follow. It may not be pretty, so hold on for the ride!!
  3. According to my Hibs supporting work colleague, they have no central defence for Wednesday. Apparently a mixture of injuries and suspension (McGregor) and he's worried about game and would settle for a point in the circumstances. Get intae them!!!
  4. Seem to recall wee McColl giving us the "you're down" thumbs at the end of the last game in Paisley. Love to ram it right back at him today COYS!!!
  5. I see this game is all ticket...............might be interesting
  6. Ok, Stuart isn't the most popular poster on this Forum, but I have to say I agree with all of this I'd even add that I remain unconvinced that the fan-ownership situation improves anything. I suspect money will be even tighter than before and our ability to do much more financially this season must surely be limited (I could have this wrong with no facts to back it up........I certainly hope I am) I'm also unconvinced when I hear players quoted as saying "love the new manager, trainings been great blah blah". I'd much rather they were saying training has been really hard and I ache but I'm benefiting from it, and I'm now able to control a ball coming in my direction and to make a simple, even forward, pass. Last night was rotten (on and off the park) and in the decades I have supported the team I could count on one hand occasions when I have left early. Last night was one of the fingers.
  7. Great photo/camera if you took that from the Braes.....................either that or you have had a very near miss from your vantage point on top of one of Paisley's tower blocks!!!
  8. Wow, tonight has to be football utopia............... Summer football in stunningly perfect conditions Reduced priced tickets Cup game played to a conclusion against near local rivals on a victorious run Not on tv New players on display Taking all of the above into account we should have a near sell-out record attendance tonight...................................................
  9. Similar experience to yours Billyg with regard to Sound of Music Pretty certain I was also taken to see it again in the Kelburne when it finally was released and came to Paisley. To this day, remains to only movie I have ever seen twice in the cinema!! Three times actually if you include the Sing-along version!!
  10. There is usually a roll call of fans that have unfortunately passed away in the season. Wonder if that will still happen?
  11. My last Tiguan had heated washers!!
  12. If that was the game played on a fairly foggy day, it was mine too. I was taken by a Rangers supporting neighbour and we stood near the enclosure below the stand, on the other side from Cairters. I think it was one of those just happy to be getting taken to an actual match things for me (I would have been 11) and when St Mirren won, well, they were from that point onwards my team.
  13. Sorry Tom, but I have to disagree Defensively, we are a horror story just now, and even if we scored a goal or two more here and there would we win points. I can't help feel we need to bolster the midfield, to not only help the defence but to try and retain the ball a bit more. I'd be happy to play Shankland or Gallagher on their own up front, and bring in a midfielder to allow Agnew to drift up the park a bit more. I think Thommo is done at this level. I also think McMullin is currently way out of sorts and I'm sorry, but Webster just isn't doing enough, content to always look for a pass to our keeper. We do have problems, more than can be quickly fixed, but I would try and shore up the back rather than play the three "strikers" up front. It may not be pretty, but hopefully that's what Mr Miller's there to assist with.
  14. In all seriousness, this could be a golden opportunity. Can we ensure exclusivity for the Panda mascot to prevent others getting in there as well? Surely somebody within the club should be pursuing this??
  15. Not a saints keeper save, but the best save I witnessed live was while standing in the Kop behind Roughie when he tipped over Toshack's header (?) in the '78 World cup qualifying game v Wales. Still think Gordon Banks' save of Pele's header in the 70 World Cup takes some beating
  16. Yip, got it and had wee chuckle at the time as well!!!
  17. Stating the obvious, but this has been a horrific season. Some bad officiating decisions along the way, but no excuse, we are by far the worst team in the league. Tuesday was particularly disappointing given the way we rolled over and gave in. As supporters, we were all pretty gutted and some, angry. Looking at things in the cold light of day, I have consoled myself by saying I would rather be relegated than go into the red. If our financial position was/is so precarious that what we had in terms of both players and management were genuinely what we could afford, then so be it. I don't know if we will or could ever find the real answer to the above. I accept that we have a limited income from the support, but is it hugely less than teams around us in the bottom half of the league? Do these teams all have a sugar-daddy..................or are they down the road of debt and possibly ruin? Have we seriously mis-managed similar funding as available the others, or have we just been mis-managed in a football sense, and not made the most of funding during player deals? Hopefully the BOD will be considering all of these and more in the forthcoming weeks. It would be good to get an open view from them on these As I said at the start, if we did the best we could with the finances available, including selling Kenny McLean (as has been suggested to keep us afloat) I'm prepared to accept relegation as being the outcome rather than going into the red. If we blew it at BOD and management level, lessons have to be learned and sorted Sad and disappointed, but SMFC are my club, always will be.
  18. I'm pretty confident that if the Board walked away from the club at the end of the season and gave it over to the fans as a freebie we would be either bust or relegated (probably both) by the end of the following season This isn't a computer game aka Championship Manager
  19. I too have an Omega which I inherited from my late dad. He got it for long service and it has a lovely bit of engraving on the back. It costs about £90 to get the battery changed! But I wear it every day and don't see the sense of it being hid away. I do like it and a few folk have commented on it.
  20. I hope the club look at the bigger picture with this and seize the unique opportunity to forge some sort of link with a club from probably one of the richest football playing cities in the World. Go press the flesh guys
  21. A wee rap on the knuckles for Mr Teale coming up. Oh no, hold on, its St Mirren. They are struggling in the league and financially too...................so lets give them a 3 point deduction and a £5k fine!!
  22. If that's the incident on the 6 yard line, I thought he had booked him for simulation (which I didn't think it was) which leads on nicely to him doing the same with Arquin a few minutes later just so he could be seen as being fair and even. Don't understand why the first challenge on Arquin a bit earlier wasn't given as a penalty, and as has been suggested in earlier posts, if its not a penalty its much more worthy of simulation?? I would like to think there is no agenda against St Mirren specifically, however, I can't help but feel there is a tendency for referees to think that teams at the bottom of the league just aren't as good and will be more likely to resort to foul play to try and turn things around. We have been hovering in that bottom zone for so long now over the years that its almost a given we are an easy target for this type of attitude. Maybe it would be good if we had some games refereed by those outwith the SFA ( as happened when the refs went on strike) who might view things differently................as happens to Smeltic when they play in Europe and Broonie-types don't just get a friendly talking to?
