We know professional football players are stupid - that's a given. What is sad is that forum users who would like to think of themselves as being intelligent are accusing others of being intolerant and bigoted, whilst being intolerant and bigoted towards the players who have made the tweets.
Seriously, what is wrong with posting a picture of a Union Flag - the flag of OUR COUNTRY! There should be nothing inflammatory about it at all and I reckon you'd need to be incredibly small minded and intolerant to think otherwise.

Seems a bit over the top to me. Can kinda see the problem with Carswell's tweet as he's calling the Old Firm game 'The Big One' just hours after playing in a proper derby, a bit disrespectful. Agnew's tweet is only making a comment on a game of football, he doesn't even say anything to suggest he is a Rangers fan.

The thing for me is I don't really care who our players support. It would be foolish and niave to believe they all have St. Mirren in their hearts, that being said I still don't like this being flaunted by them especially for a team they are up against on a regular basis. This is showing complete disrespect and contempt for the people who both support them and pay their wages. Clearly they have no real interest in being at our club so show them the door.

Football players "twattering" their excitement about any other team is hardly "discussing their work" and it's stretching things to put it into a "work related manner" as mentioning ay football related matter could come under that banner.
I happen to believe it's naive and slightly insulting to the club/fans who pay their wages.
Not the crime of the century and, overall, some sort of agreement should be laid down to prevent these issues.
It's almost an educational issue as it seems some players don't understand that it could be seen as a slap in the face to some supporters.

A regular visitor to the site, Tom McB recently promised me a cheque for the Accord Hospice for the terminally ill should Morton fail to be promoted.
Today a cheque for £100 for said Hospice dropped through the door.
He may be a soapdodger but he's also a top geezer
    Nice one Tom

In Internet slang, a troll (/ˈtroʊl/, /ˈtrɒl/) is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people, by posting inflammatory,[1] extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a newsgroup, forum, chat room, or blog) with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response[2] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion,[3] often for their own amusement.

You beat part timers 1-0 having been completely outplayed, outfought and out-thought. St Mirren rode their luck and only a wonder save from Jamie Langfield, a header off the line and some woeful finishing left the game open for Watson to steal the points with a tame mishit shot at the second time of asking.
Ofcourse wins are important and winning ugly can be a feature of a successful side, but anyone taking any comfort off of this level of performance is deluding themselves. I was at Alloa for the last away match there and whilst that was also incipid shite St Mirren were never threatened and they were good for their win. I predicted Rae would be a success as St Mirren manager but that performance yesterday suggested the club is back in reverse gear. You certainly have to wonder what exactly these players are doing on the training pitch at Ralston cause it doesn't look like they are practising any skills.

My tuppence worth. The reason for purchasing a season ticket is I can have my chosen view. If it was a free for all I would not bother buying one as I don't attend all home games.

There are plenty of empty seats for people to sit elsewhere. I pay for a good view, the company of those around me and knowing that seat is available at whatever time I turn up at.
And why the West Bank? We seem to be getting all the shit these days. Half the catering and toilet facilities of all the other Home supporters; shit tannoy; unable to read the wee TV in the corner; 1/3 of the stand with Away supporters who will be spewing out their songs of hate on the last day of the season with preferential treatment from the stewards and police. I never see the Main Stand being inconvenienced by anything.

Disagree David. Live music venues are a different proposition as they bring in loads of visitors to the town in a way that most shops don't.
That said, I firmly believe (from experience) that the business rates should be reduced across the board, but that's a different argument.

The Arts Centre is a washout. Is the bar even still open? Hopeless for live music as well. Total waste of what could be an excellent facility for theatre productions.

I have often thought that the best way to contain OF fans in our stadium was to allocate them the North & South stands. That way, the constabulary/stewards could keep these taurags in for 15 minutes after a game. Shock, Horror, I find now they are being allocated their normal part of the West stand as well !!!
I will now seriously consider whether to renew my ST, or start following a local Junior team.
It's the disregard of St Mirren supporters in pursuit of an extra few bob that gets to me, and it is just a few bob!

There are obviously views on both sides of the argument, and I've been thinking about why this has hacked me off so much. For me, this issue just clarifies the 'football is a business' issue.
I completely understand the financial reasons for taking this decision, but the communication from the club has, yet again, been incredibly poor. The communication issue comes up time and time again, and even though we have a Fans Council whose stated role is to improve communication between the club and fans, they weren't consulted on this. That suggests to me that the Board aren't really bothered by fan reaction, and I have an increasing impression that we're there to pay our money and take whatever is going on. I think the Chairman's reported comments of fans as 'knickerwetters' and 'keyboard warriors' at Tommy Craig's Q&A come back to haunt him at times like this, as it could be interpreted as an attitude that prevails in the boardroom.
Football is all about money now, and this is a business decision to bring in more money despite the fact that a proportion of the club's fans will be affected. As a fan, I'm immediately aware that that's a very tricky message for any club to communicate. Why doesn't anyone within the Board or the club in general seem to get that? Particularly when it's one of the Old Firm, who will come to the ground and park where they want, stand, smoke, while we're all stewarded and policed as normal - I will never get my head around the fact that people within a small football ground are stewarded and policed differently depending upon who they support. When the club rented the ground to Celtic in the summer, let them put up their signage and, in my view, made us look a bit of a laughing stock, we were told that the money would get us a couple of extra players. That worked well didn't it, because it's been the second season in a row of watching shambolic performances, so there's no guarantee that we'll see any benefit on the park from the additional money.
I feel an increasing disconnection between the club and myself, and that I'm viewed more as a customer than a fan. Issues like this just add to that feeling. But I understand that other's will see this all as a bit of a storm in a tea cup.

I hear you mate, but I think the handling and communication of the decision has been crass and without class.
Had the board chosen to at least consult with the fan groups on this (SMiSA & The Fan Council) they would at least have paid lip service to the supporters.
Had they chosen to outline the benefits of the decision to the fans (we're going to finance the new disabled platform, we're going to spend it on the dome etc) then we would have least have had SOME sort of positive in the statement to cling on to.
As it is they've rushed out a pretty poorly thought out statement that says it's happening, and hence we have this sort of reaction.
The comms from the club has been piss poor in the last few years. I totally appreciate the directors are fire fighting every day and have to do what's right for the club, but sometimes they don't do themselves any favours with the way they release information to the fans.
At the end of the day the fans are as important to the club as the directors. The young ones even more so. If you don't have fans you have no club. You just can't keep treating the fans as the arseholes that will come every week regardless of how many times they are shit on.

They should compensate the 200 odd fans that are being inconvenienced .
How about giving them a reduction on next years season ticket .

The season hadn't even started and Celtic playing 3 games at St Mirren Park and everyone was up in arms and now the last game of the season against the other half of the ugly sisters is kicking up a massive stink. It's been a bad year for everyone connected with St Mirren FC apart from David Longwell and Brian Caldwell who have managed to escape the madness.
I think season ticket sales will drop by at least a third next season.

Firstly I can see the attraction in maximising revenue for what will almost certainly be a dead rubber game for us.
An extra 2000 fans in the South stand on the day could make a real tangible difference to our budget for next season.
I also think the chance of Rangers fans taking up home end tickets could potentially lead to trouble on the day, and whilst the club can't say that in print I assume that is what they mean by the "in consultation with police scotland".
    HOWEVER.................
The statement that has been released today is very poor. If I was a South Stand season ticket holder I'd be more than a bit pissed off. It basically reads along the lines of "we're doing this whether you like it or not and you're probably too stupid to understand why".
There is also no mention of what is happening with W6 & W7, If they are selling those to Rangers too then the home fans really are being completely and utterly shafted.
I don't think this is one of the boards finer moments.
