take your point, however this particular one was based on the principle of the gap for international games, the close of the signing window, which then left the Wednesday or Thursday, it then became a case of what would suit all organising parties,
Please don't think it's a case of which Thursday will we have this year to make sure buddie in ek can't make it.

    thats what has happened,
My numbers may not be 100% correct but the principle currently is that the consortium is made up of something like five people, only three of whom are on the board, or rather ARE the board
There are other large shareholders who have more shares than two of the consortium, but the 52% ensures that no one else is invited onto the board
surely because the consortium are trying to sell their 52% shouldn't prevent them from having others on the board and making a contribution to the club practically or otherwise. In my opinion this is where the club is really falling down as it's not just about having the controlling interest it's the fact it's their ball and no one else is getting to play
To the detriment of your club
isnt it all a bit unusual that some of those large shareholders were 'removed' from the board by means of the 52 % over ruling them !
leaving five people with just the exact amount of shares to have the controlling interest but not so many shares (or people involved) that it would increase the cost for anyone wanting to buy the club
for example if the consortium were to be made up of the three board members and two other larger shareholders it would mean they would be trying to sell for example 65% which would obviously cost more than the 52%

Any one of then can resign from The Board if that is their desire..Consequently retaining his/her shareholding and remain part of The Syndicate.
What we urgently require is a freshness on The Board in my opinion.

It's not about tommy Craig or Mark mcausland (st Mirren man btw !) it's about the situation our club finds itself in where some of the people (not all of them) who put their own time money and effort into my club to ensure it's continued existence are now looking to get a return for their investment and because it's not forthcoming we find our club gradually fading to a shadow of what it once was.
The lack of drive, motivation, money, investment, enthusiasm, is chipping away at everyone from the boardroom to the pitch to the stands and apathy seems to be our club motto at the moment, no matter how much you care or support our club you know it has been becoming more and more difficult for the past five or six years to muster any sort of enthusiasm
for the first time in forty four years I left the game early today, embarrassing frankly and certainly not something I'm comfortable telling everyone about, but it's where I think not just me but everyone finds themselves right now
the answer is in the hands of the consortium. Yes we all appreciate what some of them have done, but FFS you're killing our club, the one some of you were credited with saving. But I'm sure our current situation doesn't sit well with you either.
This isn't just a matter of us being relegated one year and being promoted sometime in the future it runs deeper than that and the sense of going nowhere is prevalent and this post (rant) is not about tommy Craig's ability it's about the decline of my club since 2007 and the various managers being perceived as the problem
SO, CONSORTIUM . . WHAT YOU GONNA DO ?
    suggest. . .
    1) tell everyone due to the lack of offers that the club is now off the market, whether you may still be open to offers or not is another matter which can be addressed out with public view, but remove the lack of uncertainty, whether it be regarding the managers job or the stability of the club and consolidation of the fans and the team
    2) stop being so phukin petty or personal and instead of only the two or three senile members of the consortium being the sole make up of the board of directors, involve other major shareholders, fan groups, businessmen within renfrewshire etc etc into the boardroom, fresh ideas and all that.
    3) there have been a lot of positives in the past few years, ralston and community stuff for example, but if you are finding it hard going, which is understandable, ask for help !
    4) tell the manager to sign me as our new striker. hey, my goalscoring rate is no worse than those currently in the team, and I stopped playing five a sides two years ago

My big worry was that we had a bad start. With this the fans were never going to be patient as tommy has been here for three years. It would have been different had the board cleared the management team completely . Anyhow what I think is that we will probably go down this year. I can't imagine ball or caldwell will score enough and I do know the defence won't stop enough. Cheesy and Naismith won't do. Naismith is sheltered from criticism as he is "just a young lad" but actually he hasn't got it defensively at present. Cheesy hasn't either and is an easier target . Anyhow I feel not angry anymore as this isn't new this is what we have become. I'm just sad that again were getting beat all the time. 12 points behind Hamilton and I'm afraid we will not catch them. Saints have been allowed to decline since the league cup win they board hasn't been able to sell but they are still obligated to look after our team. I don't know the finances but replacing well paid pros like McGowan and harkins and mcgregor with Caldwell and mar wood etc equals a big saving in wages. Also having the assistants still playing cuts out an actual assistants wage. It's cheap and it's turning very Nasty at saints and I think after 9 years we are heading for a fall this time

    there are many.
particularly in the English lower leagues where the majority of single owners are English, implying local lad done good and bought the club
In the higher English leagues the vast majority of owners are foreign.
in Scotland it has to be said there is a mix of various options but with regards to single ownership the Brown family and the Thompson family at st.johnstn and Dundee utd have been holding the club together over a long period of time which can feasibly be described as successful.
Others however that spring to mind from the recent past include, Brooks Mileson, Craig White, Angelo Massone, Vladimir Romanov
It would seem single majority ownership is a bit hit or miss with no definite overall good or bad for any club
The main over riding factor for the success of single ownership clubs would seem to be that the successful ones are owned by an individual or family that has always had a lifelong association with the club !

seven years on, would you join if it was £2 per month ?
    well it is
    reasons for joining below........
    Fellow Buds
For two or so years now SMiSA, The St.Mirren Supporters Trust, has been on the face of it relatively quiet and has not been in a position to pursue its aims and purpose as vigorously as we would all have liked. Although situations out with our control such as the inability to purchase unissued shares in St.Mirren thus restricting our investment in the club and the focus of all connected with the club on the unsuccessful bid for community ownership, SMiSA has still continued with ongoing Youth Development sponsorship, organised various events for the fans and general financial support for the club, such as providing the bulk of the funding for the dome.

Having since reorganised the committee and with the willingness of some individual members to get involved has provided us with a new impetus to get our targets back on track.

The changing face of football finances and the seemingly out of control ownership issues of football clubs generally provided the realisation that sitting on a large sum of money that was going nowhere coupled with the needs or the desire of the consortium to sell their majority shareholding to a single owner would diminish our long held belief of any independent supporter representation on the board of St.Mirren, where ultimately the potential future of our club could end up in the hands of any individual who may have no concern or moral obligation to St.Mirren, it’s fans or the community it represents, but perhaps they may only be interested in the club as a personal trophy or even just the value of the assets of the club !

You may consider this unlikely based on the current circumstances at St.Mirren but some fans of other Scottish clubs also thought the same when their clubs handed over the majority shareholding to seemingly credible individuals such as Brooks Mileson, Craig Whyte, Angelo Massone, or Vladimir Romanov.

It is becoming more prevalent for the stability and long term future of clubs for the decision makers and the custodians of the club to be made up of people who have a lifelong affiliation with it.

    That’ll be you !

To ensure St.Mirren remains in the hands of its supporters for the next 137 years as it has done for the past 137, it needs the fans of today to be willing to contribute to the development of the club and be a part of a consolidated voice of the vast majority and for the club to grow and thrive from that base of enthusiasm and involvement.

The St.Mirren Supporters Trust intend for this group representation to be realised in a number of ways……

    > to increase the trust membership to include every fan who has an association with St.Mirren.

    > to increase the trust shareholding in St.Mirren through ongoing private share purchase.

    > gain backing and involvement from all local political and business partners within Renfrewshire.

    > use the experience and government backed involvement of Supporters Direct.

If you are part of any of the above groups we would love to hear from you but most of all we need you to join the Trust and become a member of SMiSA

For as little as £2 per month you will be playing your part in helping to ensure all fans have a strong collective representation in St.Mirren, allow ongoing sponsorship and positive results of the Youth Development facility at Ralston and ensure the continuation of supporter related events.
