and, hiding ! it's the midfield players, particularly the younger ones, who make themselves available to take the ball on a regular basis. watch us at throw ins, mc ginn, Newton, mc gownan ( not so young) Campbell, ( or McLean tho not playing today) who actually want the ball, everyone else, particularly today didn't want to know when it came to taking responsibility
ps we're crap at throw ins for or against

lack of playing well, accepted, but no one can ever accuse newton of not trying, our midfield generally have some very excellent players and in today's game were stretched against long term proven professionalsdespite being dissapointed today I am still impressed with a lot of our young players attitude and ability
although a lost cause at the 70 minute mark we brought on two subs at at 16/17 ish the champions league failures brought on two players that cost 2 - 3 million, remember guys that's what we are up against
although newton sometimes seems out of place, McGowan holds the ball with limited back up, McLean very much a form player, and mc ginn the player Steven Gerard hopes to be, our midfield works hard and have the a massive amount of ability, I think it's a bit unfair to single out any individual

best deal commercially, perhaps, but only in the short term, one young fan not getting the saints strip because the supplier or club can't be arse doing anything about versus the same kid getting a strip for another team
commercially, how much does even one lost potential lifetime fan cost !

Supporters were shouting abuse at Tommy because some supporters are of the delusion that they are better coaches than a lifelong football professional. Probably the same supporters that booed Goodwin when he was subbed and applauded Gauld when he was switched. Mental. Some so called Saints fans need to take a long hard look at themselves and realise that abusing club personnel does absolutely f**k all good for the team they profess to support.

having checked on anything to do with Scottish governments 'community empowerment and renewal act' and through discussions with supporters direct, the connection to or any similarities to England's 'asset of community value' is very limited
As more clubs in England register their stadium through their council there is no immediate plans to have the same process in Scotland.
From my understanding of the English version it works on the principle to listed buildings, where although it can be privately owned there are only certain things the owner can do to it. eg you're not allowed to change certain features of some listed buildings. The same principle, as far as I understand, is that if a football ground is 'asset/listed' it can't be sold onto someone to knock it down and build flats or a car park.
Which for me is where the real benefit would be in the event of any club being taken over by someone with plans to shut it down for the land etc.
Disappointingly it would require someone to initiate the act in Scotland which would require to cover private buildings (community empowerment act only covers council properties) and with the imminent referendum and political implications there won't be many volunteers.
The most likely course for supporters direct etc to pursue is trying to bring the Scottish version into line with England, which isn't going to be overnight, but I am assured that this is something that SD are pursuing as there are some some consultation periods and feedback as part of the routine of the act during which time they hope to divert it towards including private buildings with a mind on all of Scotland's football clubs
I will try and keep involved in this as it develops and keep everyone informed

I am sure that certain players must read the posts on this forum so they will be aware of this thread. I wonder how beneficial it would be to dispel this accusation/general view point by certain players coming out and making a statement to the contrary. If, they are behind the manager then come out publicly and state this so that we can all get on with supporting the team and manager through this terrible period.

It's come as no surprise to me that, over the last couple of weeks, this forum, and others, are flooded with Saints fans almost relishing our predicament.
I have often been told by my fellow, non Paisley, Scots that we are renowned for our pessimistic outlook and lack of enthusiasm.
The latter has certainly been proven unfounded as, going by the influx of posters thoughout all parts of the day, it appears our enthusiasm for pessimism knows no bounds.
Never have I see these keyboard outlets so jam packed with Saints fans, mainly criticising the incumbent manager.
One after another spreading doom and gloom, as if more was needed during the current crisis.
If ever there was a whole support who could claim to be the perfect candidates to carry "The end is nigh" boards it is our collective.
If this were to be turned into a play it would make Titus Andronicus appear more like a farce!
people say to make a Paisley man smile you have to turn him upside down!
Maybe it's time for many to take a step back, look at themselves, then actually realise that we could be in a far worse state of affairs. Time is still on our side.
The apocolypse is not inpending, at least not apparently so. Turnarounds have happened much later in others campaigns so, instead of "Why", let's try, "Why NOT"! .......................... Just for a change.

    This might be why....
I once read about five monkeys that were placed in a room with a banana at the top of a set of stairs. As one monkey attempted to climb the stairs, all of the monkeys were sprayed with jets of cold water. A second monkey made an attempt and again the monkeys were sprayed. No more monkeys attempted to climb the stairs. One of the monkeys was then removed from the room and replaced with a new monkey. New monkey saw the banana and started to climb the stairs but to its surprise, it was attacked by the other monkeys. Another of the original monkeys was replaced and the newcomer was also attacked when he attempted to climb the stairs. The previous newcomer took part in the punishment with enthusiasm. Replacing a third original monkey with a new one, it headed for the stairs and was attacked as well. Half of the monkeys that attacked him had no idea why. After replacing the fourth and fifth original monkeys, none had ever been sprayed with cold water but all stayed the f**k away from the stairs.

Reading all of this seems to indicate that there is indeed NO chance of the forumsters on this site supporting the team.
It appears they can't even support each others point of view as to what that support entails..
If it is indeed to attempt to undermine an already underfire squad and management team then I would suggest those of that ilk have achieved the desired effect and can now desist.
from all accounts Danny WILL be in charge of the next game and, save a complete overhaul using 17, 18 and 19 year olds, so will the players.
Isn't it about time necks were retracted and we sent a clear message of "real" support, (remeber that? It was what gave them confidence to beat Aberdeen, Celtic then Hearts to realise their and our dream.), and ask them to play with heart, pride and, more importantly, without fear as we will be kicking every damn ball with them?

Asset of community value does not apply in Scotland,, however as a smisa member I am currently compiling a proposal to the scottish government and supporters direct in Scotland with a view to trying to get it initiated in Scotland. The motivation being that our current board/consortium have been trying to sell 52% of our club which could in the unpredictable future have us end up with 'Romanov' scenario, hopefully not but no one can be certain that it is impossible,
As someone already pointed out it should be more obvious for trusts of other scottish clubs that have gone into administration to have already pursued this concept but as far as I'm aware it is not something they seem to be doing, however my intention is to contact these particular trusts in the hope that some form of united effort to have the principle adopted north of the border would have e better chance of succeeding.
If anyone has an understanding or having researched the asset of community value I would gladly take al the help and advice going
Waldorf, obviously you have some knowledge of the concept so please pm me with any constructive ideas or findings from the research you have undertaken on the subject. This is a serious request and not a smart effort to call your bluff.
Hopefully something positive will result from the project and help secure the future of our club and the fact that st.mirren have a very vibrant community focus will improve the chances of a positive outcome.

I do hope 10000 hours take stock, step back, think and do not attempt another 'doomed from the outset' attempt. Flogging a dead horse would leave them open to real ridicule and possible hostility if it continued to effect the running of the club.
they tried (several options) it didn't work out. move on with dignity.
I say the ball is in the selling consortium/BoD's court! if they want and value a fan ownership model, then they should be facilitating the set up of that, how it could be satisfatorily financed, run by members able to take control following a transitional period. Come on BoD nobody's gonnae pay what you want, time to think outside the box!
