  1. Sorry for the repetition div, I hadn't noticed that you had already pointed out the final fixtures in your post. Doh !
  2. Yesterday's display opened my eyes to how good these 4 youngsters (Mallan, Morgan, Magennis and McAllister) really are. The older, experienced guys in defence also did well IMO (which suggests to me that they have confidence in the youth that JR has promoted). Despite not winning the game I left the ground feeling genuine optimism about the way things are starting to shape up at long last ! However we have a fairly short window to turn this into genuine progress that will save us from relegation - just have a look at our final 4 or 5 fixtures this season, at least three of those are trips away to the likes of Falkirk, Hibs and Dundee Utd. We must turn this potential into points ASAP to get well clear of the danger areas before April or we will be sunk.
  3. Negativity alert !!! Only three games suspended ? That's disappointing, IMO Jack Baird is a liability that has cost us dearly already this season. He is a loose cannon who, in our present predicament, we cannot afford to risk in the first team any more.
  4. My vote was No and No. These £2 contributions (as I understood it) were to be set aside from day-to-day costs and ring-fenced towards small improvements that would make a difference in some way. I don't really go along with the argument that these are exceptional circumstances with the team sitting at the arse end of the league table. I'm struggling to remember the last season when that wasn't the case. On the field improvement is a matter for the football club to get right. SMiSA surplus funds should be spent elsewhere. Disappointed that SMiSA members weren't offered an alternative proposal for the funds. Just my opinion of course.
  5. Tell Sid as well, another theft from the Great British public.
  6. Aren't all positons meant to be demanding ? And how can he be described as be playing in that position when he is back in the dressing room before half-time ? His mind-numbing stupidity probably cost us 3 vital points yesterday. He has been gash in several games this season, has been guilty of making embarrassing mistakes in matches that have cost us 'match-losing' goals, and that's why he has found himself as nothing more than a fringe player in a poor team. He has had his chances, thanks and cheerio IMO.
  7. Similar St Mirren career to John McMillan and perhaps the same vintage, does anyone remember Fraser Campbell who scored the only goal in a match at Somerset Park, may have been a Scottish Cup tie ?
  8. Wasn't that fixture a few years prior to the McGarry era ? I remember Jamie Fullarton put us 1-0 ahead before Chic Charnley for Dundee caught us out with a quickly taken free kick to equalise. McMillan's goal was very late in the game, it felt as though we had stolen the points.
  9. I don't remember her. What position did she play that night.
  10. TC signed the squad playing under him, JR inherited AR's dross. Personally I blame JR for St Mirren losing so many league games early this season while he was in charge at Alloa.
  11. Don't you just love it when a team that has been blatantly time-wasting get it pumped right up them and suddenly they have to start scampering about like dafties in the end. GIRUY Ian McCall.
  12. As annoying as people who use TLA ? IMO.

    Director Elections

My fingers are trembling as I type this Stuart but I must agree with your opinion. Furthermore the last thing we need is for our supporters' elected board member to be looked upon as the chairman's ally / patsy. IMO no members of our new board should have interfered in any way in this election regardless of their SMiSA membership.

  15. Harsh IMO. I thought Irvine was solid yesterday. In fact I couldn't offer any criticism of our defence at all, except for the keeper's howler. Naismith has been piss poor for weeks but yesterday he looked much better (although he should have scored instead of heading into the side netting).
  16. This may not be a popular opinion but I have my doubts about Morgan. Does anyone else think we may have a one-trick pony, solely left-sided who is incapable of cutting inside a full back and lacking pace on the outside ? He doesn't lack for effort but I can't see an end-result from his contribution.
  17. I am not a happy clapper but I recognise a brighter outlook under our new manager. Lady Luck gave our team the two fingers today. When did we last get an even break ? When you're up to your neck in sh*te you can expect a squadron of diarrhoea-infected flying cows to pass overhead. I witnessed a vastly improved display today and was encouraged by promising performances from the two youngsters that Jack Ross handed a starting opportunity. The team created umpteen clear cut chances but failed to hit the net. Bad luck more than bad finishing in many cases. Poor old Jamie Langfield made an amazing point blank save and 10 minutes later undid all his own good work. Time for him to go I think, hopefully a new goalkeeper coming our way in January. I have faith in JR to turn things around. This season's target is survival. If we can achieve that I look for a more successful 2017/18.
  18. You may have been watching them for 40 years, but clearly not supporting them for 40 years. The old board are responsible for ensuring the existence of the club you claim to have been "supporting". Through thick and thin it has been a tough few years following St Mirren but without the old board this club would not even exist right now. Yes, that board ran out of steam and things have gone tits-up in recent years but without their commitment during the Reg Brearley takeover and for many years thereafter Paisley folk wouldn't have a local club at all. But thanks for your support for 40 years.
  19. Stealers Wheel. Gerry Rafferty and Joe Egan. "Stuck In The Middle With You" on that LP must have made Gerry a fortune which is a bit bizarre because that isn't close to being the best track on the album. "Late Again" is the stand out track, and there are probably four or five other tracks on that album better than SITMWY.
  20. Stuart, your fascination with all things SNP-related is beyond obsession. I have been lurking on these forums for so long I can remember when you used to be interesting (occasionally). Or are you still competing with Shull for the "who can start the greatest number of useless threads" accolade ?
  21. Must be a slow news day. Yul Brynner died in 1985.
  22. JR probably wasn't my first choice for the vacancy but based on my basic criteria for Alex Rae's successor (i.e. anyone but Gus) I will settle for this appointment. A big positive for me is that JR chose to bring Jim Goodwin to Alloa, obviously recognising the importance of experience, leadership and toughness in that area of the park. Let's hope he has someone within our squad in mind to slot into a similar role.
  23. BBC's match statistics seem to sum up how awful the defending was yesterday. Both sides managed 3 attempts on target in a 4-3 result.
  24. yes, 1-0, thoroughly deserved, DAFC are our bitches.
