I like Paul McGinn, he's a steady hand but that's all he is... as someone else alluded to, he's a solid 6 or 7 out of 10 every week. Perhaps in English football circles with him still under contract, you'd pull a six figure fee for a player like him. In Scottish football though, suggesting £200k is an absolutely wild appraisal when you consider Hearts brought in Liam Boyce (who was in the same situation) last week for only £150k. 
If we pull in 30-40k for McGinn and bring in a suitable replacement, it would be a decent return.

Even if he was a month into a 3 year contract, McGinn still wouldn't be worth 200k. Some people live in cloud cuckoo land. As for Watt it would smack of a lazy signing and fly in the face of the "systems" we claim to be using (oh and he is pretty meh !)

200k for a guy almost out of contract get real ! It will be "nominal fee" it he goes this window likely sub 50k.

Remind me when did Paul McGinn morph into Andy Robertson. I must have been watching a different player. Steady yes but not irreplaceable.

Could Goody, Tony or Gus have pulled Paul aside and said, look Hibs have shown an interest in signing you. We don't want to deny you an opportunity you may want to take up. Paul has possibly said he'd be interested. Would assume if there was any truth to my theory, then there was no intention of a contract renewal?

As much as I think it's time to move Mullen and Cooke on, I'd have been pretty pissed off if we'd let Danny leave only to be targeting Oli Shaw.

He was magnificent out wide vs Killie. With space to run, instead of holding the ball up to beat the last man, is where he seems more effective.

It's a nice position to be in and make a huge difference vs many previous windows (with the exception of the summer/2nd winter windows when Ross was in charge.)
If we can add further quality, then so be it, but it's not 100% essential and if we're better off saving the money to do PCAs/get even better players in the summer, then fine.

Goody confirmed at yesterday's press conference that we weren't in for Middleton anyway. Last time we made any enquiries was in the summer and he picked Hibs. [emoji2371]

I think one extra body in that area could be necessary. The run to the cup final this year is going to place extra strain on the squad so we need that depth.

Main difference was those players were boys who had come through the academies and were unknowns. This guy was signed recently for a fee and has a 3 and a half year contract , so hopefully will be up to the job.
