  1. One of the great difficulties in providing a list of our all time failures is that so many have escaped the conciousness of the common supporter. I can picture many player's who were ranker than a rank thing but can I remember most of the names of these people....naw. Why? because they were utter baws. Some of the names in this thread have sent a few shivers down the old spine. Robert Dawson has not had as much coverage as I would have thought. I always thought that he would have been better playing with a large pair of red shoes on and shouting "honk honk" repeatedly as I regarded him as an absolute clown. Anyway I repeat.........Gary McVie.
  2. Every day I appreciate Tommy just that little bit more.

  3. I totally disagree with that, totally and absolutely disagree in the strongest indeed. Hampden park is the home of Scottish football. Hampden park is where many a great football memory has been forged form youngsters attending Scotland games for the first time to the excitement of arriving at a cup final at the one and only national stadium. Football is our national sport and Hampden is an historic stadium that must be kept for future generations. Even the fact that the only amatuer club stil playing in the professional leagues owns the place is entirely unique. Next time our great and gracious club reach a national final will it be the same travelling to Celtic park? Future generations deserve to hear the famous Hampden roar and it is unthinkable that we could deny them that. As Billyg says above it is most likely sabre rattling in an effort to drive down the rent but although we may not need a national stadium (I disagree) we should certianly keep it. If the SFA are going to conduct themselves like halfwits by jeopordising the future of our national stadium then I would assert that they should be removed. I have attended Hampden many times in my time and many times in my time have I left in tears and many times in my time I have left in tears (but tears of joy) and every time I have attended Hampden in my time I have experienced the old butterflies in the belly. Whether it be to see your club team or our national team play at Hampden there is something magical about it and causing internationals and finals to be like a travelling circus is entirely to the detriment of being a football fan in Scotland.
  4. I heard a rumour that we might be playing Morton in the final should we make it. Obviously I jest, jest obviously indeed. It is a bit of a walk for me, especially the slight incline at the rear of the "wee Dublin end" but I shall strive to make it to the should not be legal sub standard excuse for a stadium as I do enjoy seeing the Paisley greats lord it over our less fortunate and less clean Inverclyde neighbours. Even after all these years I still derive some enjoyment from this fixture, the best ever being the year our low class neighbours were embroiled in a betting scandal and bookie slips were strewn all over Cappielow. I still laugh today when I think of it...ha ha ha. The fact that our Greenock underlings are slipping down the ranks in an Abercorn type fashion makes me want to go all the more but couple that with the fact that this will be an early chance to see oor Tommy's team then that slight incline does not seem so difficult now. I will be there and I may even dust off my old wooden rattle. If I am still alive of course!
  5. You have my full agreement, agreement in full indeed. Sean Kelly is undoubtedly our number 1 left back with Mo Yaqub providing capable back up and possibly challenging Sean so what do we need/want this former player back for? Such a signing does not send out a great signal to the young up and coming player's. Unusually we look set to start a season with adequate cover at left back but we do need cover at right back as someone to challenge Jason Naismith would be desirable. That said I have faith in Tommy and if he thinks bringing this former employee back is for the good of the club then he will be right, I just fail to see with the vision of oor Tommy but then again I am not a football mastermind.
  6. Trust in oor Tommy, trust in oor Tommy indeed. All good football teams are built from the back from goalkeep out. Oor Tommy the wisest of the wise is acting only in the very best interests of the Saint Mirren professional football club pte ltd co. With goalkeeps sorted so early on Tommy the wisest of the wise can now devote his considerable talent toward building a formidable back four before moving onto a hard and creative midfield and finally securing top notch support for the Thommohawk. It is early June and we need not worry about goalkeeps already. Tommy has us ahead of the game, exactly where we will be under his stewardship. Exciting times fellow Buddies, exciting times indeed!
  7. Upon reading the thread title I made an assumption that I was going to read some reference as to how a fan of the Saint Mirren professional football club pte ltd co could secure himself/herself admission into this mythical realm known in the Christian world as "heaven". If one would desire such passage may I make the following suggestions If you wish to go to heaven when you die then may I suggest that you wear a St Mirren first team playing shirt and a tie. It will also help if you wear at St Mirren professional football club pte ltd co bunnet with the words "f**k the Morton" written upon it and that will assist in getting you to heaven when you die. You could possibly make a song up about such a process!!!!!
  8. Tommy Craig is the mastermind of all masterminds, the thinkiing mans thinker, the genius to define genius.

  9. I see the spelling of the name Borja has morphed from Borgia. Francisco Borgia was he not the son of the famous Borgia pope? If so then he has been dead for centuries so I fail to see what benefit's we could derive from having him signed to us.
  10. Tommy Craig is a man amongst mere men

  11. Perhaps I am Derek's ancestor. Thank you for the attention my forum friends, thank you indeed. It is good to know someone has paid me a modicum of attention on this day. My bloody family are still waiting for me to die whereupon they will learn that I spent all the inheritence but until then it is the only thing that keeps them coming round. I expect the vultures about 6pm.
  12. Tommy Craig you are the wind beneath our wings

  15. I was not impressed by him in that game, not impressed at all. In saying that I did not watch the game so my opinion on this matter counts for nothing, nothing is what it counts for. Why did I post at all on this matter? I felt like it.
  16. The sun is out. I do hope that oor Tommy has smothered himself in a high factor sunscreen.

  17. Yes my forum friend, he really was that bad. Some of the players that we were subjected to in the early 1990's is somewhat laughable now.
  18. He may be the worst you have seen but he is not anywhere near that team. Gary McVie made Bahookie look like Dunky Walker!!!!!
  19. I don't agree Shullster. I really do not, do not agree at all. Are you trying to tell me, me of all people, that Simon Lappin was a worse player on our left wing than Jim Gardner? Is that what you are saying Shull? Is it really Shull? Shull? Come on now Shull is it? Really?
  20. Absolutely appalling crime, disgusting indeed. We need to learn that cultures such as this are practically living with medieval principles. I am sure one can deduce my wider views from that last sentence.
  21. 1 Jock Bradford 2 Gordon McQueen 3 Davie Lapsley 4 Stevie Clarke 5 Norrie McWhirter 6 Tony Fitzpatrick 7 Daniel McGarry best player ever 8 Frank McAvennie 9 Stevie Thompson 10 Gerry Baker 11 Davie McCrae Boss...Ricky McFarlane Subs Billy Thompson Frank McGarvie Willie Telfer Peter Weir John "Cockles" Wilson Paul Lambert Campbell Money John McGinn John McCormack Jackie Copeland Dunky Walker Iain Munro Frank McDougall Alec Linwood Jimmy Drinkwater Billy Abercromby That's a treble winning team. So many more players I would love to include.
  22. I disagree with Ricky Gilliies and Simon Lappin especially. In a team that should boast the likes of Bobby Law, Gary McVie and Jim Gardner I would assert that those two certainly do not deserve to be in that number. For our younger forum user's could Mo Camara merit inclusion? I do hope you put some thought into that Shull and make the appropriate changes.
  23. Another good deal could be Taxi rate for all season ticket holders of the Saint Mirren professional football club pte ltd co. I will always go out of my way to support local businesses, especially those owned by supporters of our fine club but if the car wash was mine then that is a deal I would offer.
