I was planning on going to the game today, but got out of work too late yesterday to get tickets for my dad and myself. Still think it's crazy that clubs throw away money by not selling tickets on the day.

Is the away end a sell out then? Seems bonkers if there are spare tickets going that individuals like Zurich Alan and others couldn't get to the game because of Dumbarton's strange ticketing policy. I can't ever recall tickets for a St Mirren game not being on sale on the day of the game. Bonkers!

Goncalves is a legend in more ways than one. In April or May 2013, I alongwith another plain clothes cop, were sent to a report of a fight in a flat at Renfrew Village, think it was Mulberry Square. Went to flat, called for back up, heard loud noises within. Adrenalin pumping round body. Knocked on door and muscular, bare chested, black fellow answered door and was looking happy. Could have knocked me over with a feather. GONCALVES. Told him why we were there and invited us in. The flat looked like the end of a Saturday night in Club Slapper. Drink everywhere. Goncalves and 2 Portuguese fellows within. Turns out, Porto (I think) scored last minute goal to secure Portuguese league and the three of them were going mental, celebrating. We all laughed, I relaxed where he then invites me into his bedroom. Started getting nervous as he is a big boy but he then proceeds to open up a set of drawers where there were an assortment of replica St.Mirren strips from cup final, every player was there. All fully embroidered with the match details under our club crest. He then asks me to pick one. I took Thommohawk's jersey, thanked Mr Goncalves for his time where he invited me back to party after my shift where I had to decline. Went back to office, declared the gift and gave it to wee Saints mad boy in my street who burst out crying when he got the strip and it is still up on his bedroom wall today. Sorry for long winded story but good to remember a legend.

It's because it wasn't a criminal prosecution, they were sued through a private civil suit, so the court doesn't have the authority to order a custodial sentence. They weren't found 'guilty' as such, and will not have a criminal conviction against their names. They were found liable to the lower, non-criminal standard of proof of the balance of probabilities.

I honestly haven't looked at the fine detail of the evidence, so honestly not certain. From what I can gather though, the COPFS did initially look at the case but ruled out prosecution. Knowing what I know, I can only imagine that they identified there would be serious problems with corroborating the crucial facts of the case, which would make a criminal conviction unsound. It's the only logical reason I can think of, because if that was the issue it would make (under Scots criminal law) a conviction to the standard of 'beyond reasonable doubt' impossible, but not a finding of liable to the standard of the balance of probabilities.
One thing though, under legislation introduced just over two years ago (the Victims and Witnesses (Scotland) Act 2014), if a decision has been taken by the COPFS not to prosecute, a victim of a crime now has the legal right to require (not just request, but effectively the right to demand) that the COPFS decision is reviewed. IF (and it is a big if) the victim has not already played that card, then in light of the finding of the civil case, they would have the legal right to require the COPFS to take another look at the case.
I'll be very interested to see how it plays out, and when I get a decent amount of time free I'll do some digging to see if I can find out anything else.

Yup. A pity Ayr got a point at Falkirk, a pity Queens could get a point at Dundee United, and a pity Dumbarton were able to beat Dundee United while we went there recently, took the lead and still lost. It's also a pity that into this run of five games with four of them against teams we 'must beat' we have so far managed to be gubbed at home by Queens and draw with Dunfermline.
The next league game must be close to being in 'must, must, must win' territory. Still got some blind faith rattling around in my tank somewhere, but the weeks are chalking off and off. Before we know it the dreaded 'arithmetically impossible' gets a dusting down.
    Pah, bah humbug, wank tank....

Hopefully up front with Sutton. At the end of the day, we badly need to be winning games now, setting up for a draw or being overly defensive in our outlook is no longer an option in our current position, we need to go for broke. 4-4-2 all the way!

The pressure of trying to anchor a midfield of other young lads won't have helped. Its obvious to everyone (except, perhaps, Alex Rae) that he needs a degree of protection to play to his strengths. Hutton's terrible form didn't help at all, and Quinn has never established himself. Too often, Mallan has had to sit deep, when he should be the playmaker and supporting the striker(s).
He certainly isn't without fault, but Mallan hasn't went from being a really exciting young player to often looking a bit lost for no reason.
