I think the basis of her 'cheats' allegation was purely based on the fact she was a raging wee bitter Arab basturt' who was wandering amongst home fans with grins as wide as the Silvery Tay itself.
I genuinely just smiled and kept walking. Her hubby / partner / carer (delete as appropriate) was fair affronted.

Need to post about the Scott McDonald yellow card though.... how brilliant and enjoyable was that. He reckoned he had suffered a foul, then he commits a foul... the referee isn't going to book him, but the West Bank can see McDonald is just gagging to open his gob... the West Bank starts a collective 'wooooaaaahhhh....' it slowly builds.... McDonald looks like he's going to explode.... 'WOOOAAAHHH!....' - He does explode. Out comes a yellow... West Bank - 'WOOAAAHHH..... YASSSS!!'.
Fcuking awesome! Nearly soiled ma' breeks.

I used to play around that area a lot as a kid, my aunt and uncle owned the Clarks shoe shop on Montague street for about 20 years until it was demolished, god must be about 25 years ago now! They stayed in Shore road at Port Bannatyne. My uncle died about a year ago, but my aunt still stays on the island, in Rothesay now though, not down at the port. My cousin and her husband were both brought up on the island, and her husband's dad owned the Argyle Arms for a long time until he semi-retired a few years ago (though he still does the music at weekends and still does a weekly turn at the Glenburn). I know a good few folk on the island through all of them, and usually still spend a week or two on the island every spring or summer staying at one of the houses round toward Craigmore. Enjoy a pint in the Golfers in particular and a few of the other local watering holes!!

100% agree. The way the rules and officials are going, it's virtually becoming a non-contact sport. Not every contact between players is a foul, yet it always seems to be given that way. Tackling is a core element of the game, and should not be vilified to the extent it is. I don't buy the 'it was reckless' nonsense that's often spouted literally just because the tackle was a slide tackle, and I'm saying that as someone who's had their leg broken twice by tackles on the football pitch.

The thing is, where is the line drawn between a hard, committed tackle, and a reckless challenge?
At the time, I thought it was a strong, fair tackle. It looked to me that he won the ball, or, at the very least, was certainly trying to.  What might be described as a 50-50. It wasn't two-footed, and there was no straight leg.
The whole 'studs up' thing is a strange one. Given Irvine's position - ie: he was effectively down on one knee, its hard to imagine how his foot could have been in any other position.  I've seen players win a ball in that way numerous times.
Thomson didn't blink before producing the red. He must have been very certain that it was warranted. It will get to the stage that defenders will be scared to put a tackle in. That's crazy. Carrick wasn't badly hurt, and Irvine wasn't looking to take him out.
Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I think there has to be a bit of blood and guts in the game.

We have to appeal based on what those photos show. Maybe not even a foul let alone a red!!

No-one will outlast Chookie Embra'. A smile, a song, casual racism and a firm handshake... puts Forsyth's song & dance man schtick into perspective.

It's definitely true that they can make a whole lot more on the marathon circuit. No doubt about that. But top level athletes at all track and field sports in Kenya can make a good living if they perform well. After the major championships (Olympic and World Championships), all Kenyan athletes are given substantial prize money for getting a medal, and a reasonable amount for making the final even if they don't get a medal. When added to other meet prize money, it is quite possible for a reasonably good Kenyan athlete (average finish 3rd place) to earn around $60k-$80k a year even without endorsements. Certainly not big money, but a reasonable living.

The marathoners though indeed can treble or quadruple that. Still, Kenyans are always there or thereabouts in every distance event from 800m up to marathon.
