No probs. I get in just before 1pm. Hitting Wetherspoons for lunch then off to the Eagles Nest for a pre-match pint or two.  Last time we stopped for a beer in town before hitting the Eagle and by the time we got there we couldn't get in because it was full of singing, dancing, drumming Buds.  The bouncers were manning the doors to prevent overcrowding but I think they were too late. The three pubs next door were all good and we had a bit of banter with the Queens fans. You're right it's always a good day out.

Train tickets purchased. Always a good day out in Dumfries and the bonus of a direct train back to Newcastle  after the game. Looking forward to  it. Hope saints get back on track. No train pun intended, honest .

Fairly comfortable win. Train journey home was more pleasant for seeing the smug looks wiped off those rangers fans faces .

Think I might take root sitting in my armchair for so long this Saturday.  Saints game live at dinnertime,  soccer Saturday followed  by nufc at man city all on the box. 2 very hard games. In fact the latter is impossible  and merely damage limitation.  Still, I'm not moving.

As a Newcastle fan who's club owner has no desire to do well in the cups, i love the difference in attitude from St Mirren. It says their aim is to get promoted and progress to the latter rounds of domestic cup competitions, and they actually mean it. So wish NUFC had that way of thinking and some ambition. It's the way a club SHOULD be run.

I agree about double standards here. Going back a long way to the late nineties granted, but i can remember the clubs own mascot the Paisley panda standing in front of the Morton fans and pretending to wash under its arms as if it was showering. While this was hilarious, some might deem it offensive. Personally i still chuckle to myself when i picture it in my mind all these years on .

IMO just when the club and the fans were all together. singing off the same hymn sheet if you like. this has the potential to be a us and them attitude again. Think the club should think again about this and maybe a representative from W7 should have a chat with Fitzy. I love the atmosphere at home games at the moment and even when my cousins were over from Canada they loved it too. Would such a shame to lose it. Powers at be please think again

This has all got rather silly, and there’s no need for some to be rude..
Last post I’ll be making on here until the club respond
A-  Regarding the rules, which seem to have been plucked from thin air as we had never seen them - the definition of “insulting” needs to be established. Does insulting mean you’re not allowed any parody or “banter” at a derby match anymore?
B- As we said when we first put this out, we feel the ban is disproportionate and unfair, and needs to be looked at and addressed
C- To the forum users referring to us as “neds” and “silly wee boys”, that’s just rude and uncalled for. All we’ve asked for is to be treated fairly

Our dull, grey shoebox of a subbuteo stadium finally gets an atmosphere , complimented with a winning team to make being at home a pleasure rather than a chore & we remove part of the winning formula?

We’ve put up with visiting fans standing for the whole game, singing sectarian songs & using derogatory terms since being in this stadium from certain clubs over the years.

Swearing is ‘tolerated’ in moderation in 3 stands & wee banner creates this ?

    Shocking response from the club.

Watch the next 3 home game results & see what impact this decision has on the scores.

Back to back defeats to coincide?

    Lets see.

Surely common sense should prevail here. A bit of discussion between the club and representatives from W7, together with an apology and a promise to tone down the banner messages in future must surely resolve the issue. I can understand the clubs condemnation of THAT banner but it does seem like an over reaction. The noise and visual displays in W7 have improved the atmosphere greatly. Get together. Get it sorted and let's not have an unnecessary divide between club and fans which indirectly may hinder what promises to be a good season on the field.

Saw The Skids earlier in the year and they were excellent. Obviously, Stuart Adamson is irreplaceable, but the last time I saw Big Country a couple of years ago, they were very good too.
I saw Heaven 17 in the town hall, and we were in the gallery too, as we will be on Friday. It is up on the balcony, where you get an excellent view. I thought the sound was fine, but I'm no purist.
There was definitely at least one bar there.
    Looking forward to it!

Speaking of the challenge cup, i got saints mentioned on BBC radio Newcastles' football phone in,'Total Sport' the other night in relation to this. Some sunderlanfd fan had been on saying he had been one of their 7 away fans in their checkatrade trophy game at Grimsby last week and had attended all of their ties in the competition. I texted in to tell them about my saints interest and that i'd got to every round on our run to last seasons Irn Bru final. They read it out and mentioned that the producer of the show is a saints fan, while former Ireland defender John Anderson chipped in with 'At least they got to a final'.

Modern world. Modern game. What was that penalty all about? Feck, 2 points dropped. Decided not to celebrate and head straight for the train. All sorts of scum on the platforms, mainly heading for Greenock. A couple of wee St Mirren fans returning their abuse. Big brave Morton fans in his late twenties (maybe) gets upset and grabs a St Mirren scarf from a young 12ish year old boy and proceeds to gloat over his stolen trophy. A bit over the top, I thought, so I placed my hand on the Morton fans shoulder and advised him that stealing from children wasn't big or clever and maybe he should return his stolen plunder. Feck his mates all turned on me. "Don't touch him that's assault" they implied. At this point they were still undecided on whether their mate was a dick or not because he had stolen a wee boys scarf but my intervention obviously confused them and for a while it looked like they might turn on me instead of doing the right thing. To be fair for a minute I actually thought about knocking the twat off the platform but that's not acceptable behaviour in today's society so I simply produced my phone and told the young whippersnapper that I was recording footage of a scarf thief. He had second thoughts then and threw the stolen scarf back to the young St Mirren delinquent who had been winding him up in the first place. Like I said modern world, modern game and just because your an old fud it doesn't mean your not a player. Fecking cowshed aggro. Thick as shit

Also looking forward to the game. Hopefully make it 3 wins out of 3 for us this season, albeit we've only been to Stranraer in the cup then Brechin at home. I'm sure it's been mentioned on the forum but i can't find it. Is there a minibus that runs into the town after the games? Would be handy if so. Maybe allow time for a celebratory pint before the train home.

One of the few places we make a point of staying over for nufc away games. When we're in the same division of course.  Always felt safe and found the locals to be welcoming. Usually quite hard to find affordable hotels near the centre. Ended up booking a room above a Toxteth pub the other year. We were a bit apprehensive because my memories of Toxteth were of it being in flames during the riots on the news when I was growing up. Turned out to be one of the best places we've tried. So hospitable.
