faraway saint Posted July 7, 2013 Report Posted July 7, 2013 Since I'm red hot right now I've just stuck a small wager on Graeme McDowell to win this years open at 22/1 Better to name your bets before the event. Quote
davidg Posted July 7, 2013 Report Posted July 7, 2013 Can't wait for it. Think I'm heading there on the Saturday and then golfing Sunday morning with Buckfast Crew then out for a few jars in the afternoon with him and reem. Love The Open Quote
davidg Posted July 7, 2013 Report Posted July 7, 2013 Odd's? I'll post my tips next week. Was close last year. Backed Snediker before a ball was hit a 150/1. Don't think many would have tipped him this time last year. Quote
faraway saint Posted July 7, 2013 Author Report Posted July 7, 2013 I was at the Open at Carnoustie with some old Paisley mates, waiting to cross a fairway and stopped rather abruptly by a steward who was high on power. One of our crew said to him loudly "You've a face like a Halloween cake" which resulted in the whole crowd laughing at him. I heard the poor steward is in the same ward as Tony A. Quote

Carnoustie was brilliant. Got the train from Glasgow with Gav and his dad. I was still smashed from the night before. Few cans for breakfast and I was sorted. Great day until some dafty pulled the emergency cord on the train home around Perth. Probably a Mackem Quote

I've been betting on the Open for about a million years and hardly had a winner. Paddy potato head has been my saviour over the last umpteen years. Only went for McDowell as I'm flush and he's on recent form. He's just phoned me and told me to fcuk off for jinxing him. Quote

pozbaird Posted July 7, 2013 Report Posted July 7, 2013 One of the middleweight Yanks will win. Not Woods or Mickelson, one of yer' Matt Kuchar, Jason Duffner, Keegan Bradley types. Will quietly sneak up on the final day and win by sailing under the radar. Quote

Lex Posted July 7, 2013 Report Posted July 7, 2013 As good as that day was, it certainly doesn't count toward British sporting success on the international stage Quote
Lex Posted July 7, 2013 Report Posted July 7, 2013 And Chris Froome could win the Tour de France! Quote

well st bud Posted July 8, 2013 Report Posted July 8, 2013 will colin montgomery be trying again?? Quote
RickMcD Posted July 8, 2013 Report Posted July 8, 2013 will colin montgomery be trying again?? Fraid not. No automatic qualification for him with not being a previous winner. He tried to qualify last weekend. Apparently played not badly but blew it on the last few holes. The story of his life. If only he could have controlled his temper a few times over the years. But anyway. Quote
well st bud Posted July 8, 2013 Report Posted July 8, 2013 that would have pumped up the scottishness if he had been there, any other scots in it? Quote
