ulysses
Does he qualify as a 'proper centre half' due to the fact that he's f*cking huge? Doesn't actually mean he's that good. Anyway, it seems this was more to do with his fitness.
aldo_j
Two? Saunders and Mads.

Would be interesting to know how many of the trialists we've signed over the years have been decent (like Tesselaar) and how many have been pish like Tonet). Also wonder how many we've decided against have gone elsewhere and done a job (Paul Ritchie). Seems like it was all down to fitness in the end. He missed most of last season through injury and maybe he was seen a risk if he has struggled at the end of the week when others were coping to a higher level. I liked the bit in the ET article where Murray says its the wrong time in the window to sign someone who you are not 100% sure about. Slotting in well at the club now. Sign no one early then take a lot of mad punts as the window closes. Edited July 13, 2015 by Dibbles old paperboy

djchapsticks
The lack of waster journeymen coming in on trial and being linked from outwith is encouraging. A mix of young players with good reputations from good clubs such as Howieson and the Irish lad from Spurs, young Scottish players tipped to have bright futures like Rooney, Kane and Shankland and guys who might pose a risk but are still young enough to have merited a look anyway like Saunders and Mads. It's all the exact type of player I hoped we'd have been sniffing about. Glad the wasters who are looking for one last pay day like the endless dross Rangers released don't seem to be getting a look in.

djchapsticks
Both young strikers, Howieson, Rooney and Langfield? Saying that, we need a dedicated and experienced centre half on top of that, rather than just someone who can play there if needed. I wouldn't be surprised to see another one or two on top of the 5 mentioned.
