If it's only goals that determine how decent a world cup was this surpassed EVERY previous world cup. Averaging 2.68 goals EVERY game, giving a total of 172 goals, not bad. Of course, it's not all about the goals, some excellent play all round, a few cracking blunders by goalkeepers and, surprisingly, astounding crowds at most games.
