What a rubbish statement.Thistle got Doolan from Auchenleck and Erskine at Dundee Utd is ex Kilbirnie and McKinnon at Hamilton was signed from Bankies.

This thread is indicative of our support's general malaise at the moment.....it's the day before a game and 90% of the posts in here are about the ticket prices - not much football chat going on.

At the moment being a St Mirren supporter seems so bleak. I know we have had darker days but I could always get that pre match buzz before a game which has been replaced by I bought a season ticket so I will go feeling.
The reason I feel this way is mainly down to uncertainty. We have nothing in the way of players coming in with the January window about to shut. The BOD are not communicating with the supporters in the progress of any takeovers. Even to come out and say nothing on the table would be good or we are weighing up options. Just anything would be good. A caretaker manager who does not know where he stands with the job making it harder to bring in players who might be brought in with a manager who might be gone the next week. Football clubs need stability and I don't feel we have that.
Something's that would change my mood.
    1. Win against Thistle tomorrow
    2. New centre half signed
    3. Any takeover updates being communicated or any update from the BOD.
    4. Permanent manager being appointed whether it's Teale or not.
    5. Home win
    6. Clean sheet
Do I think I will get any?
    Fingers crossed

Good to see someone come in who can perhaps offer what Teale and Wylde can't down the wings*. Also good to see something approaching stability at this difficult time of the season with Teale being confirmed as being in charge until the end of the season.
*at end of playing career / uninterested waste of a wage.

So far we've signed only one quality (?) player - Arquin - surplus to requirements at Ross County!

Ross County have just completed their 4th purchase during the January transfer window.
They seem to want to stay in the SPFL more than we do.
Or perhaps they are just a much wealthier club with a larger fan base!
It's a sad day when the club from Paisley (population 74,170) can't compete with the club from Dingwall (population 5,491).

Do you genuinely believe that, in our current state of limbo, a (derisory) sum such as £250K would be reinvested in the squad.
    Not a chance.
Losing Kenny just now would be a lose lose scenario, be in no doubt about that.

I suggested a few months ago that we could do worse than stick Naismith up front. I agree that he offers more to the team going forward than defensively. In fact he reminds me a bit of Alan Hutton who has always been the defensive weak link in any team I have seen him play for. However, Hutton is more of a provider whereas Naismith is a genuine goal threat in his own right.
The only problem is we apparently don't have another right full back.

I agree if this was this one game in isolation. In everyone of the above they got the benefit of the doubt.
Thommo red card was controversial. As were the 2 goals that we weren't given.
All the penalties in the Kilmarnock game and the McLean red card were all controversial, so much so Collum was dropped.
Then we have the Arquin red card which was later reduced to a yellow after appeal.
The thing is we don't appear to be getting any benefits of the doubt at the moment.

You HONESTLY think he could have had any better view than that?

Number 1 .....I think we've seen 3 or 4 Red cards given to our players this season for much less

I've watched the 3 slightly different sets of highlights... SPL youtube ones from Saturday night where the commentator thinks McGinn's first half shot strikes McAlister's hand but wasn't deliberate hand to ball, Davidson's challenge on Arquin gets nothing on the ball while pulling Arquin down and stopping him getting the ball, and I watched the BBC SPL page highlights where Paul Mitchell calls both those claims differently "No penalty there" and the online highlights from the Beeb also include Harkins challenge on Tesselaar and McLean's cross striking Irvine's arm in the 2nd half in the penalty area and the Arquin red card incident, and the Sportscene edit as well.
From those combined highlights there are 6 or 7 big decisions on the game and while he gets the offside decision correct, and while I would have turned down 3 of our 4 shouts for a penalty there is a pattern to McLean's decision making.
    1) Harkins 2 footed studs up tackle on Tesselaar. Decision free kick to SMFC and no booking or straight red. Dundee given benefit of the doubt
    2) McGinn's shot blocked by McAlister's arm. No penalty. Dundee given benefit of the doubt.
    3) Irvine's equaliser. Almost everyone seeing this in real time with no replays said it was offside until they say the replays and freeze frames. Dundee given the benefit of the doubt.
    4) Davidson brings down Arquin in the box and doesnt get the ball - Dundee given the benefit of the doubt.
    5) McLean's cross strikes Irvine's hand in the box - Dundee given the benefit of the doubt
    6) Arquin comes down after McPake challenge - Dundee given benefit of the doubt
7)Arquin given 2nd yellow for diving after McPake challenge- Dundee given benefit of the doubt.
While I think he got at least 3 out of the 7 calls right and a lot of them were tight calls, Harkins should have been on at least a yellow after 2 minutes and I don't know how he can justify Harkins' first foul going unpunished after a few mins and book Arquin for his first foul in the 2nd half which is less serious than Harkins one. Fans at the game also alluded to a string of tackles from behind going through Kenny McLean which also went unpunished while Arquin's clumsy first one goes straight into the book.

I sat in the stand today and listened to some of the abuse hurled at John McGinn. Not disputing the fact that he had possibly his worst game in the stripes but the service he has given this club is nothing short of exceptional. It reminds me of the time kenny McLean went through a spell when he wasn't playing as well as he can and he got terrorised. Us as supporters need to rally round these youngsters in times like this, because mallan will hit this point at some stage of his St mirren career. Keep the faith!

Thought Kelly had a very good game last night.
Scored one and set up our winning goal on Saturday.
Yes he's been struggling a wee bit since assuming his more forward position, but looks to me as if he's getting used to it now.
Much rather have Kelly than Wylde in the team.

Eh ! we are now only 2 points behing Motherwell in the 1st "safe" position. We need to finish 10th or better that is all, no point in trying to work out how many points it will need or what games we can / can't afford to lose bottom line is we need to finish 10th or better by whatever means and at whoever's expense. It was an excellent point last night and we were very unlucky not to take all 3. if we perform like that every week until the end of the season we will stay up of that I have no doubt but consistency has never been our strong point !

Watched the recording without knowing the score last night after returning from a 50th birthday bash - thought we played well for long spells, but about five of our players stood watching their scorer have far too much time in the box. It's like Groundhog Day - play well enough, can't keep a clean sheet, can't hold onto a lead, can't win at home, can't put away enough of the chances we do create.
If this keeps up, we will be relegated while 'playing well' and will have to rub our eyes, shake our heads, and wonder how it happened when so many other teams this season were 'really pish' and there was no Rangers, Hearts, or Hibs.
We simply must win some home games. Sob stories and hard luck tales of Wille Collum-esque mistakes costing us simply won't cut it as we wake up in fizzy pop land.

Everyone was excellent tonight. McAusland was fantastic for the 90 minutes and deserves a lot of credit. He takes a lot of stick from certain people within our support, but by the way he played tonight, he proved why he's in the team.

Changed times indeed when I say how disappointed I am that we only got a point tonight against a team vying for the League title! The difference between now and 7 games ago is night and day. Teale has a formation that works well and everyone knows what they are supposed to be doing in it. Plenty of skill and fire and determination. Although Utd are the team making the transfer headlines the best 3 players tonight were in the home team with McLean, McGinn and Mallon although there were no failures in the stripes. Give Tealy the job now!

Teale is getting enough points, just about, to keep us up if he had been in charge since the start of the season. 8 points from 8 games and he's maybe had a half fit Thommo for 120 minutes and had 5 or 6 players going out the door with only Arquin in. Mallan and McLear have looked decent since their introduction, but the biggest change has been seeing guys like Goodwin, McLean, McGinn return to their pre-TommyCraig form.

Superb stuff and vindication for the fans who stuck to their guns even after The Sportscene 'experts' gave their view.
Let's hope refs stop sending our players off incorrectly from now on. That's two in a row, and I think we would have won Thommo's appeal had he not been injured.
It's shocking the amount of bad decisions we've had against us this season.
