You're correct; we have no formal input, no vote on any matters. We are asked for or offer our opinion / input on topics being discussed. I attend because I want to do whatever I can to help SMiSA and the club move forward. Simple as that.

Neither Kenny nor I have been co-opted onto the board. We attended SMiSA meetings during the Director election process and continued afterwards but not in any official capacity.

On the under soil heating,a £15k loan to fix it in time for the Morton game, which going by the almost 5000 crowd at the last one, means that for this match the club could take in £40k or more on top of the average gate receipts so far this season, led me to vote that it was given this time and that it be interest free, because i do not believe SMiSA should be making money from the club.I was initially against the idea but then considered the figures and decided it was better to loan it than not, because if the game was not able to go ahead then the re-arranged game possibly being a week night game would almost certainly have reduced the amount of gate money by a significant amount, and even if that was not the case,i believe the money would be of more use sooner rather than later, and on my other concern,i was advised that the repair work could be done within a week and have the heating ready if needed for the derby match. So all things considered i decided it was best to loan it and lose a very small amount of interest (approx., £5 a month as Div said) from the bank.
The money surplus noted in the accounts for the year ending in May 2016 has more than likely been spent by now,i will not know when and how until the next set of accounts are published and even then it may not be clear, but i can see that it was possibly spent on the managerial change or even on new contracts given to players before Gordon actually took ownership,i simply do not know.I do know that the club has a budget and that every penny gets allocated within that budget.Which takes me on to the request for additional funding for the player budget, the money could be used to part fund new players or to get young players signed to a new contract. The club asked for it to be considered for the £2 pot spend due in January and that is what the members have been asked to consider, spend on player budget or keep it in the bank. The majority vote will win and i will accept that. The manager would get that money and it's up to him on how it's spent.
I agree that ideally there should be more than a "spend it on only 1 proposal or save it" option every quarter,so i would ask all supporters to use the contact methods on the SMiSA website to suggest options, and be aware you don't need to be a member to make contact with SMiSA.

He inherited a shambolic Alloa Athletic side, ironically one built by Danny Lennon. They were already doomed when he took over and despite a marked improvement they were relegated.
The next season, having built his own team with his own players to suit the system he wants to play, which is a high tempo, high energy pressing game, the Wasps won their opening 12 games of the season.
I have to say that gives me hope that the gaffer can trade well.
We're not playing THAT badly at the moment, but we're getting no luck at all and individual mistakes are costing us every week. See Langfield versus Dumbarton and then the glaring miss from Sutton against Dunfermline.
It really is fine lines in this division. I hope Jack can juggle the pack a bit in January and give us some fresh impetus. The challenge he now has is that unless we can improve results before the window opens, with the players we already have, it could well be too late.

They elected a person who was very involved in and put a lot of hard work in to make fan ownership possible. I think that it's good that he gets first crack at it. Anyhow I don't envy him or any of the current board members the task they have at this difficult time.
Well done David and the best of luck.

Hard lines to David Riley and Kenny and good on you standing and putting yourself forward.

Turn out of just about 50% is a wee bit disappointing

I posted over on the general discussion section. I didn't post on this thread as I had my ten nominations.

Good luck to all involved when the voting/campaign process goes live.

Thanks a lot, appreciate your comments. I actually made the point on my video (which will be posted tomorrow evening, I believe) that I see this role as representing all supporters, not only SMiSA members. I know there are several reasons why some didn't or couldn't sign up but a supporter is a supporter as far as I'm concerned.

    Thanks again,
    David

I personally have contacted 50 members in the past week to confirm nominations for the election, another SMiSA member has been down at the stadium with volunteers the past couple of weeks to clean seats and the concrete slabs below them, and he is also consulting with hospitality to arrange member dinners (he has been doing similar stuff for donkeys years) others are dealing with the day to day running of our members subscriptions and writing monthly updates and arranging to get those online and into print and posted to our members who are not online, we have spoken to the club about all the things that supporters are unhappy with, our members are part funding the platform for our less able supporters,we collate all the feedback from members and discuss where we spend our £2 per member fund which is for improvements on and off field, we are arranging events,we meet every Monday night and are constantly in touch online throughout the whole day,we have a fans representative on the board, i could go on.
Now some of the above benefits only SMiSA members directly, but the platform, the seat cleaning, contacting the club for fans, our fan on the board, spending on youth development and the £2 member pot are things which benefit everyone who comes along to support the team.
All of the above is being carried out by "ordinary Joe/everyday supporters" who also happen to be on the SMiSA board and give the time it takes to do this freely and in the most it's after coming home from our ordinary everyday jobs and one who has a not so ordinary everyday job.
We are not working against anyone so i'd like your comments on where you think there is an "us and them" attitude and who we need to work together with to achieve "one common aim" your welcome to get in touch,as is anyone,or arrange to come to a meeting and air your views or even volunteer your services to help our club.
We do actually have one very big common aim and that is to gain control of our club within the next ten years and ensure it stays in the hands of supporters for ever.

Last I heard (Monday night) they are verifying all nominators. There's a meeting on Monday and I think the candidates are published / voting opens after that.
