    yes, agreed
the 1000 sign ups target is as much about gauging the ambition of the support and the interest in the concept as it is about achieving the finance
lets show our ambitions for st.mirren by not just achieving the 1000 but smashing it

The issue being, if a lot of folk are waiting for it to happen and for it to be credible before they sign up - what happens if the deadline passes without 1000 being reached and the sellers don't sell? There won't be anything for them to sign up for. I can understand St Mirren fans not signing up as they have concerns about X, Y or Z, but if anyone definitely fancies it, but only after it launches? Seriously - sign up NOW to give it a chance!

    Don't be cruel!
Things seemed to have stalled a bit at the 600 or so mark. My thoughts were that reaching 750 would provide the momentum to get this over the line (whether the full 1000 will be reached is another matter).
I can only see this happening now, and it will be great credit to everyone involved. No doubt, the real work will then start, but a freshness about the club is long overdue.
My hope is that a successful bid will have a cohesive effect, not just among the support, but the broader community also. There is huge potential for the club to develop its community credentials, and that has to be a priority.
I'll be very proud to be part of the new chapter of our wonderful club's history, no matter how small a part. The whole point of a community is that it is all about the sum of it's parts. I hope people see it that way, and don't get too caught up in what they have to gain by signing up. As more people join up, its certainly looking that way.
I've got a good feeling about this....

Prepare for ownership buddies, and get your name and skill-set listed with SMiSA with a reference to what you could add to the process, ten years of learning how to run our club, needs commitment from as many as possible. Places on the SMiSA board are available.

Smisa and Gordon have been very careful not to offer, or distribute the goodwill of the club to aide or support the bid.
Your £12 a month goes to buying a significant share in the club, and building up a cash reserve members can choose how to allocate. If Smisa sold advertising space in the ground to fund the bid, that would be taking money that should rightfully be going to the club.
As long as a business nominates an individual they can sign up to the bid and see recognition of that in a founders plaque to be displayed at the Stadium. I am sure we will see a renewed drive from Gordon and his board to get local businesses involved in supporting and sponsoring the club.
Contact Smisa to get your business signed up, its already available.

I completely agree that involving all/any local businesses in Smisa and the bid is a no-brainer, perhaps a 'Smisa Sponsors Board' at the ground? And a 'Smisa Approved/supported by' business register/contact list/web page to let all buddies know where to go spend local, and back Smisa too?
Happy to pass this on to Smisa, and if you are up for it come to the next committee meeting and help plan how to get it up and running?

Interview with Ian Murray where he speaks about the big malaise around the club at the moment

All the more reason to sign up. Needs to happen.

Sod players. Most of the players at the club today haven't been there for 12 months. Who gives a shit what their opinion is on fan ownership?
Do you know what, I've got what I needed over the weekend. I heard commitment from various SMiSA committee members, saying, with a fair degree of passion that they will do their bit to make the club better.
Buddiecat (I don't know the real name under the alias) made a great post on the forum saying that he would do his bit to open up the club to community groups to increase footfall in the stadium. Then I swapped e-mails with Colin Orr. "We want to form better links with the community." And finally a short PM exchange with John White outlining what he has already done to take the club out to the community, and stating his commitment to improving links.
I grew up with a belief that in being a St Mirren supporter I was supporting a real cause, a force for good. A club that loved it's town. A manager who went out on Saturdays and attempted to personally persuade people to come down to watch the team. A club that knew what was going on in it's town and a club that seldom missed out on a talented youngster. Looking back that childlike ideology probably was a hundred miles from the truth. Real Saints probably did smoke, no matter what the ad campaign claimed. And the club was clearly being run by the same kind of small minded talentless unambitious people that the current group of directors have become. But wouldn't it be nice if the future was more like that childish ideology? Wouldn't it be good if the club really did become something to be proud of?
Leap of faith? Aye, but at least now I've seen commitment from three SMiSA members. f**k it! I'm staying in.

    Agree 100% Zo.
Indeed ,anyone who attended the last meeting could see that he was not comfortable with the Mic, didn`t really like standing up in front of the audience & was far more comfortable taking questions when still sitting down.
As i said in my post meeting comments, give me that sort of person anyday over some of the smarmy ego trip snake oil salesmen types ( & football has had more than its fair share of them over the
    years !)
The guys from SMISA spoke extremely well but perhaps as you say someone with a higher profile & public persona as spokesperson might engage people a bit more.
Also , George Adam ,as you would expect, was the consummate professional with the audience but the power of a wee bit of fan /player connection should not be underestimated.

Might be worth mentioning to your friends and family - this buyout bid is not just (though mainly is) about getting control of SMFC this is also about getting control of our wonderful facilities and opening them up for the good of our whole community. Schools, social clubs, nurseries, tenants/residents associations etc., can all benefit from our facilities. And i assure you i will be representing low cost (or no cost) access to the Paisley 2021 stadium for the good of all our community and beyond.
You don't have to be a saints supporter to sign up. SMiSA are currently working on plans to go out and engage with our community - let us know if we can help with anything you have in mind.

Do you think we could be offering something else to attract potential fans who either can't make games due to work commitments or disabilities etc. St Mirren TV could be an answer to help us get over the finish line. If made available in the UK to subscribers there could be a monthly fee which is a package of having access to the games and the relevant percentage going to the bid as per everyone else's commitments. Think we need to look outside the box and attract people who may normally not attend get involved.
I am one of the above and cant attend games but would love to watch the games when I can and would subscribe on that basis and I am sure there must be many others be it down south or elsewhere.
Thoughts and any further ideas welcome.

Just back from a week away on holiday. Fantastic to see so many new sign ups, glad to see some people being convinced to take up membership (those who stated they might and have)
    Thanks to you all.
    Keep spreading the word please.
I will answer any questions i can or direct you to the website for those i cannot, but as stated before, this thread is to keep the bid in the minds of fans and also for people to debate the project.
Someone said i was doing all the donkey work for the bid team, i would say they were doing all the donkey work for us members. We are always open to questions, so please ask.

Yeah but it's just squeezing the same people for more money.
I'd really recommend SMiSA and GLS getting themselves far more clued up on SEN's and on the various successful examples out there and doing so as quickly as possible. There are so many different revenue streams that could be opened up by going down the SEN route and you'd think with Gordon Scott being a joiner he'd have been well aware of at least one of them.

Signed up along with my son who has sold this on to a couple or 3 of his mates from Mossbank Shetland. Its a bit strange to think that a few folk from up here who are committed to this but don't support St Mirren are willing to support Smisa and GLS in there attempt to buy the Buds .Hope there are many more like us.

Happy to report that a few friends of mine have simply not got round to signing up yet so i,m hopeful that this is the case with a lot of our fans and i,m looking forward to a surge of applications following tonights meeting. The opportunity to take control of our club must surely be grasped with both hands following an abysmal 3 years and i feel that Alex Rae and Faz will awaken us from the slumber. This in turn will return the feel good factor to our support.
I can fully understand the apathy with some of our support but i genuinely feel that without everyones support this bid and the future of our club will be compromised.Lets get it over the line by spreading the word.Get your brothers, sisters, aunts and uncles signed up.We are St mirren!!!!!!
