  1. Hearts have done brilliantly this season under a string of handicaps. Only the 15 point penalty has prevented a team made up mainly of kids staying up. Their manager and their supporters actually deserve praise rather than humiliation. And we should thank them for continuing to dig in after their relegation eas confirmed because their recent form is the only reason we are safe with two games to spare. Thanks Hearts, here's hoping you manage to humiliate the blue-noses next season and return as champions..
  2. A couple of highlights from TB's pre-match thoughts ahead of Hibs trip up to Dingwall (courtesy of bbc sports website). "We all know what will happen if we win the game and that is a huge carrot for us to chase." Chasing carrots ? WTF ? Almost as bad as Celtic playing at home would expect to have the lion's share of the den (copyright Mr D Lennon). "I've used the cup final analogy to motivate the players before and it hasn't really worked, but we know the importance of the match and what we have to do." The cup final analogy hasn't worked ? Unbelievable as Hibs have been so devastating in their last two Scottish cup finals. Is TB losing it altogether ?
  3. In the papers at the weekend Killie are planning to have an artificial pitch next season as well.
  4. With our future in the top division now confirmed I would expect (if any/all of the rumours are true) that we could see a number of important developments in the very near future. Is St Mirren on the verge of being sold ? Will we see Swiss Tony and his fellow Toblerone-chompers put pen to paper and seal the deal ? Or is there someone else lurking in the background with money to burn ? Will it still be DL in the manager's office or is someone else already lined up ? What about players who will leaving the club ? Who is getting shown the door, who will be offered new contracts ? Who is deciding on new players for next season ? Will we see Harkins back in Paisley or could he stay at Oldham ? Exciting times, but please get things moving ASAP to get a stable structure in place long before next season's kick-off.
  5. Poor girl. Health issues blighted her tennis career, and now this. Very sad indeed.
  6. Otherwise they would have been acknowledging that Kevin Thomson was play-acting and would have to bring some form of action against him.
  7. He's a player I would rather have playing for us than playing against us, which is the likely outcome of not offering him a contract.
  8. Shocking news Gary. I didn't know John personally but he was a familiar presence at home and away games. A loyal fan. R.I.P.
  9. I think his name is Drew, not Bill.
  10. 1. Not us. 2. Hopefully Dundee will win their league. 3. Maybe Killie for 11th, as they should be good enough to beat Hamilton or Falkirk over two legs. We don't want plastic pitches in our top league. 4. I agree that Ross County bring little to the top league but at least they play on grass.
  11. Victories for Killie and Hearts would suit us very well this weekend.
  12. Perhaps more than we deserve at half time, a decent first 5 minutes and a decent last 5 minutes. Passing has been very poor, McGowan and Newton must up their game in the second half.
  13. I wonder if any of you have heard her version of Slade's Merry Xmas Everybody. I think it is amazing what she has managed to create from the basic material. Well worth digging out on the internet.
  14. Eh ? You can wear the shorts on your feet and the socks to cover your bum ?
  15. Ross County have begged for leniency for Jamie Hamill after his barge on Adams. Well, well, aren't they such a nice bunch of people, so willing to forgive this act af needless aggression ? Or maybe they want to minimise the length of Hamill's suspension because Hearts still have to play the other four clubs in the bottom 6. Or am I just being cynical ?
  16. Saturday was very enjoyable but let's not go overboard because Hibs are 100% gash. Everybody beats them. Anyway DL won't be sacked. His contract won't be renewed.
  17. PEDANT ALERT !! Shouldn't that be sewerage ?
  18. Hibs recent slump has brought them right into the mix for the play-off spot. It has been widely reported that they have won only once in the league since they defeated Hearts on 02 January (vs Ross County at Easter Road). How does that compare to the others in the bottom 6 since 02 January ? Looking at the league table from back then Hibs were actually in 6th place above St Johnstone. In the fixtures that have taken place since then here is how the form has worked out i.e. points and goal difference :- Ross County 17 points and (+1 gd) Partick 15 (-3) Hearts 15 (-5) Killie 12 (-8) St Mirren 11 (-11) Hibs 7 (-15) On that evidence you could argue that ourselves, Hibs and Killie appear to be in bigger danger than Ross County or Partick. Five cup finals to play !!
  19. My puerile contribution was not intended to offend. Sadly Bob Geldof's life has been punctuated by tragedies and now two young children have been left without their mother. Nonetheless if you look back at most of the "So Farewell Then ...." genre of threads on B&W Army you will find them peppered with puns and attempts at black humour with no offence intended. For some reason, presumably the young age of the deceased, it is offensive this time around. A lesson learned by me, some deaths are ok to throw humour at (maybe old or middle-aged people)and others are not.
