  1. Not ideal results but we stay alive. Bring on the next game!
  2. One goal without reply for Falkirk and one goal from us without reply and it'll be a good day at the office after all. Come on Saints (and Bairns) !
  3. Not surprised by this. Not looking forward to our next trip to Greenock ????
  4. Good luck to him. I thought he did ok for us overall and very good in terms of impact from the bench. English league 2 will still be decent money. And it least he can't return to haunt us ! [emoji3]
  5. A fourth new signing! Excellent news! Unleash them all!
  6. I won't be there today - we couldn't make it through in time after our morning/early afternoon commitments. No matter what though - three new signings has got to be exciting. I hope our new players have the same impact as the three new signings that QoS unleashed on us last week! At the risk of 'happy clapping' (which I don't think it is) - three points today makes a huge difference to our survival chances. Come on Saints - lets get this feckin' corner finally turned!
  7. There is a lot of disagreement of the relative merits of Shankland and Walsh. The majority seem to be happy enough with the departures of Hardie and Gallagher. In my own opinion the first two gave us something positive, the other two less so. However the two biggest problems we have to address are Clarkson and Webster - they must be two of our highest earners and are both virtually invisible during games. They have both played at the top level in Scotland, they are both former Scotland Internationals - they have both SCORED for Scotland - yet for all this experience they are giving nothing to the cause just now as we fight relegation - leaving us instead to sing the praises of some gutsy talented youngsters who do appear to be giving their all. Surely this is unacceptable! So why are they still here? And as they are still here, why can't we see them?
  8. As other posters have already said - being a step down from Ross County at the moment is a hard pill to swallow - but it is the reality. There is no point getting into any wailing and gnashing of teeth about it - we need to focus on stabilising our position and addressing our decline. I still believe we can stay up and other similar sized type clubs (Patrick / Dunfermline) have battled back from the third tier to the top flight in quick succession in the recent past - so if the worst happens it is not the end As for Jason Naismith - he has taken the opportunity to join a team currently in the premiership top six and backed by a multimillionaire owner - who could blame him? I'll wish him all the best but a huffy/sarcastic "Thanks a lot" for giving us another problem position to backfill
  9. I thought Gallagher showed occasional moments of 'something' positive but ultimately he flattered to deceive. My thoughts on Hardie have been consistent - poser and waste of space - the ultimate deceiver. More concerned about Shankland making the next derby day a nightmare. However all three are still in the Championship so I'm sure next time they face us it will hat tricks all round Ah well - COYS! - BRING IT.
  10. I wish he would resign () but I guess we will have to terminate on mutual consent. When we first got him I was quite upbeat - a friend who is a 'well fan sung his praises re. impact "especially at [our] level" (Patronising b*st*rd). At first there were a few flashes of ability and vision but not much else. This year he has been shocking - he basically comes on, runs around a bit and contributes nothing. I didn't see the exchanges with McAllister but from the sound of it, it must have been outrageous! As other posters have said he has actually CONTRIBUTED to the survival cause in a positive sense, so to get hassle from a veteran who has done NOTHING all season is galling. That said - booing of any player coming on is self defeating and counter productive - you're never going to get anything out of a player who realises he has already been judged before he tries. If we know we aren't going to get anything out of him and also that he will be leaving in the summer (which he surely must no matter what happens) then there is no point playing him - put on another experienced squad player or a youth player with something to prove - it worked out quite well with the two Kyles.
  11. I'm not sure that Flareybob would be happy with us hijacking his thread to talk about real players. Back on topic please.
  12. Haha! Love It! One in the eye for the super-slick Murdoch empire is always worth a chuckle.
  13. I have a hellish (and potentially costly) Marvel Superhero show to get through at the Hydro from 1100 till 1300 Then off to the game. Karma demands a victory to balance things up - therefore I will go for 2-1 Saints. COYS
  14. Welcome back St Ricky! The way I see it there are two elements to the great escape (both are common sense) 1- beating our survival rivals - that starts on Saturday 2 - matching or bettering our rivals other results. Last nights result for Dunfermline basically matched our victory over Raith (ok - I know Dunfermline were away but we can't do more than beat them) - so I'm not panicking about that - although I'm disappointed Raith couldn't do us a favour. Still doable though I am getting some butterflies looking at the 9 point gap to 8th. Although if we beat QoS we are back to 6 from 8th which is a whole lot less scary. If Morton do us a favour against Dumbarton then we will have two teams six points ahead with Ayr playing Dunfermline which means we catch up on at least one other team. So we need to keep the faith and hope for a priceless win in Saturday!
  15. Looking at the flipside - we must therefore be long odds to stay up - time to earn a stack of free money [emoji3] #wearestayingup
  16. Yep - the biggest disappointment of all the loanees. Never seemed interested. Occasional flashes of skill but never willing to put in a shift and always seemed to be waiting for ball to feet. Won't miss him at all.
  17. Didn't know we had actually confirmed Storie - yep great news there. Hopefully the last of the other three will be a centre half. Not going to disagree about the impact of McAllister - nor would I play Walsh before him - my point was more to do with how he did in comparison to the other loanees. I thought he was a good impact sub and did make a positive difference in a number of games. He's history now though and I hope the wage money can make a difference in the quality of the incoming players. If we get four key players in - and they work out - then it could still be happy(ish) days.
  18. Surprisingly mild New Year hangover - so in a slightly better mood than immediately post match yesterday. OK - we are in a bit of a pickle and I can see both sides - we are not making up ground and we have less games to do it - so I can see relegation staring us in the face. However, we are playing better and we can still catch at least one team above us (strangely looking more and more like Ayr). Its a bit like Schrodinger's cat at the moment so either side could be right - and we won't know until we get to open the drawer. It all hinges on what can be done in the transfer market (if anything). Yesterday the same two key weaknesses were exposed again: No midfield ball winner once Quinn went off and a misfiring centre-half partnership virtually incapable of getting us to a clean sheet. I guess we need to ditch any loanees that we can to free up funds (still say that Walsh did us a half decent turn but we need the wage money for other areas). It would be great if we could punt Clarkson but if not he should be left in the reserves - for me he is the greatest disappointment - supposedly the most experienced player in the team but virtually invisible in any game he plays. So commanding centre half to work with MacKenzie (or Baird) and someone to get a grip on midfield allowing Quinn to be backup. Don't know if we can get players that fit these vague descriptions - but I believe that this is what we need.
  19. Happy New Year to all Buddies. In this time of doubt we'd be tempted to recite Han Solo stating "I've got a bad feeling about this..." I prefer his other mantra... "Never tell me the odds!" Here's hoping for the great escape in 2017!
  20. Gutted. Game turned on Quinn injury. Equaliser was on the cards from that point as we dropped deeper and deeper. Clarkson should be nowhere near the first XI. What was Ross thinking? He has been off the pace all season.
  21. Going to risk public transport today after all. Hopefully the ugly sisters draw so that the knuckle draggers are unsure as to whether or not to be angry/cause trouble. We can get a victory today and I believe we will. I'm not quite as optimistic as everyone else though - I'll settle for a hard fought 2-1. COME ON YE SAINTS!
  22. Cripes! Does this make us an "Establishment Club" ??! ????[emoji3]
  23. Looking forward to this game. My only problem is getting my 9 year old son safely to the game and then back home on the train. What should be a great party atmosphere may well be spoiled by the p*ss*d up knuckle draggers who purportedly support the ugly sisters who will likely be running amok in the City Centre by the time we are heading home. Whoever scheduled that game for 1230 on Hogmanay should be shot
  24. Totally winnable match. Get 3 points here and things look a lot brighter. We then have a third chance to sort out our immediate rivals in January (plus 4 February) If we get the games against Morton, QoS, Dunfermline and Dumbarton right we should be off the bottom before our last 16 tie in the Scottish Cup
