    A lot better.
Keeper had a good game with a couple of crackin saves .
Defence looked far more confident, i think much of that was gettin Goodwin out of defence.
Kelly done very well & unlike some ,i think vanzy had a good game.
Newton got dragged far too deep in the first half but far better second, still like to see him commit to taking men on more often.
Mcginn was superb but did run out of steam & started getting caught in possession, though id much rather Mclean had given way as he fell out of the game after gettin clattered in the back.
    Thommo..... thats more like it.
Bahoken ? there might be something there, not sure what yet ,but something !
& Back to Goodwin. Yes Jim , you are a hard man midfielder, stick to it !!

I thought it was a decent performance by the Mair and McGregor partnership until the unforced error that led to the Dons goal. Then it was a bit more like panic stations until the end.
Contrary to some others, I thought Vanzy played well enough, despite still getting dragged inside too often when no other f*cker will cover him on wide right.
Again, unlike some others, I thought it was right to take off McGinn, as I thought he'd run out of steam.
Young Kelly did well, and Goodwin is so much better in midfield than defence.
Thommo put in his best shift since the cup final and was MoM by a mile.
The young keeper looks OK to me.
Newton was anonymous in the first half but came on to a game in the second.
McGowan did OK but I still think we don't know his best position.
McLean was also OK but needs to put in a bit more work.
I really don't get this idea of making a sub with 2 minutes to go unless it's jist to run down the clock.
All in all, a fair point against an inform team, but we could have won it. Probably saved DLs job for another week.

Thommo was superb tonight and showed the spirit needed to get Saints up the table. Also well done to young Kelly at full back who done really well.

I agree that Killie were never finding it easy.
I would go further and say that, for large parts of the game v Kilmarnock we were in control.
I don't even think the sending off had as much bearing as some suggest. It took any chance of a cutting edge away from Killie but, by then, they were on the back foot. A combination of Samson's heroics and poor finishing is what took a victory from us.
I walked away from that game with what has been proven as false hope. You know the kind. "We need only that one bit of luck to start off our season", and "I can see the shoots of a recovery in that performance".
I haven't seen that since though and that's very worrying.

I don't get to many games so I don't respond to most of the posters on here who watch us home and away but in the first 2 games of the season you are wrong. A dodgy penalty in Inverness and a 3-0 defeat was hard to take and Kilmarnock were never in cruise control in the 1-1 draw. What annoyed me about the Killie game was the lack of urgency about the match. We were down 1-0 when Boyd went off and we should have went on to win that match but I walked back to the pub with a sense of "och well". Never felt for a minute we were worse than them.
St Mirren were poor in both these games but to suggest we were lucky to lose 3-0 and lucky to draw with Killie is wrong. Is it a Paisley thing to look at life through a half empty glass that has a crack down the side.

I wish I was Danny, a decent man who made my dreams come true. I wish I had his ability to win a trophy with the team I have supported all my life despite the chances being slim. I wish I had half the ability of the people in our club who do their best day in and day out to make the people of Paisley and further afield proud of the football team we are so passionate about.
I wish the folk who support our football team were of the same moral fibre as them.

Thank you for the unwarranted and unwelcome insult. I shall reply with the term "there is no fool like an arrogant fool". I can do this all day you know!
You are being far too sensitive and tree huggery. One of the wonder's of our modern democratic society that people of my generation and before gave up so much to protect is the right to free speech. I find this tendancy to label anyone who is a supporter of Ukip as a racist quite tragic and unfair. Quite frankly you have to take a look at yourselves as it is the people labelling other's as "racist" without justification who are in fact the ones peddling hatred. Personally I find the Labour party far more offensive than Ukip or indeed anyone and I am allowed to because I live in a demcoracy and enjoy free speech.
I still do not accept that the term as it was used in the context by the man whose name I am now deliberately not reading was indeed racist. Labelling someone as a racist is a very serious accusation and one that should not be made lightly. Indeed those who do so are hate filled and dangerous themselves and should be treated with the contempt that an established racist is. Racism is wrong but so is accusing people of it without justification.
Once again I agree with the sentiments made in the speech. In my country I have witnessed the demise of many libraries, public toilets, casualty depts, bus services, dental care, community health care services, post offices and the such like. The standard of living in my country has been reduced somewhat and the future of our young generations does indeed look bleak, look bleak indeed! As such the setiment's of the speech were made in a way that brought such a relevant issue into the public domain. A good speech well made!
As for the term "Bongo bongo land" .
    Was it ill advised? Probably
    Was it racist? No
Stop being so quick to label anyone and anything as racist.
I agree that our current immigration policy is far too easily abused. Is that a valid political viewpoint or racist right wing doctrine?
If you think the latter then you are indeed deluded and as well as being a little bit stupid you are also far too easily offended and filled with hatred yourself.

I'm loving the passion running through the veins of the buds on here, I'm as frustrated as the next but we must have the most negative fans on the planet. Last year at this stage we sneaked a last minute goal from Darren McGregor to steal a point from the Highlanders. We went on to having one of the most glorious moments of our lives.

In days of yore I've heard the Saints faithful question the hygiene of the Grenockions, the parenthood of referees, the apparent abuse of woolly farmyard animals by a group of fans from the Aberdeen area....I could probably go on but I can't be arsed. As a paying fan I couldn't give a fcuk what goes on and if it makes a folks day to get something "aff their chest" then go for it. It doesnae bother me.
When it becomes impossible to get rid of frustration at a game of football then I'll call it a day. I really don't care what individuals shout and ball, a wee quiet mutter of "nutter" to a mate usually does it for me.

    My father was a fireman and attended the incident. These are his words;
A wee story about an event which I was involved with back in 1964, it is an eyewitness account of the Brown and Polson dust explosion on the 5th. of june 1964. when five souls lost there lives..but to start with I have to go back to the night previous, the 4th. june 1964....I was on nightshift with blue watch..when I was told by my station officer to get myself out to the thornhill hospital as my wife was about to give birth to my first born..when I arrived at the hospital my wife Jean had given birth to a son..I was over the moon with delight at having a son.
Back at the fire station to complete my shift. the bells went off at 0630am..it was a call to an explosion at the brown and polson factory, persons reported missing....the factory was an old building with very thick walls and was five stories tall...when we arrived at the scene all that was left of it was one very large pile of bricks and morter, being young and inexperianced [ I was only 24 at this time ] My first impression was that the mill had been pulled down by contractors..but I was so wrong, as I made my way to the debris I noticed a movement in the rubble when a man appeared out of it his brown overalls shredded off of him along with half his skin hanging like tatters from him..he muttered to me where his two mates were seen last..so I helped the poor soul over to the care of an ambulance crew, turned round and headed back to the scene of chaos
...I called over to another fireman [ Alec Lawler ] to come and help me to search the area that the injured workman had told me about..so together we tore at the rubble with our hands, when we heard someone groaning we cleared the mess from him and made a stretcher out of a short extension ladder, roped him in it with a personal line [which we all carried in these days ] then lowered him down to some other firemen....we then resumed searching the rubble and came to a bit of brown cloth, as we cleared the bricks and mortar from it we had found another soul..but he was dead, he was lying face down wth a massive lump of concrete on top of him..we cleared it off of him and called for another stretcher to be passed up to us, we wrapped his head in rags and secured his body with a line and lowered him to our mates down below.......another two workers were found in the remains of a works van it was completely flattened by the whole of the gable wall which crashed down on it,,it was just like a butchers shop,terrible..the last person was found two days later lying beside a three ton truck. which no one knew was there untill a bulldozer found it..the fifth worker was never found......the explosion was caused by corn dust which had gathered in the old mill over the years .. under certain atmospheric conditions this dust can glow and then ignite devouring the air inside the building, which then causes an implosion.......although this happened back in 1964 I sometimes dream of the apparition of the first workman lumbering towards me...scary...now I tried to google up this tragic event, but could find no trace of it, so I thought if there is no public record of it..then why not tell it to you all on this forum ... and hopefully lay to rest the ghosts in me.....
My father is now 72 and still has nightmares about that night, the explosion not my entrance into the world. Great thread by the way.
