I first remember this being sung with "where Fergie is god", When he left we kept the song and kept changing the name. It got to the stage we were so pish and ran out of heroes we ending up singing "Where bevvy is god"
Molly Malone, and que sera sera, were favorites of mine.
When I was just a little boy
I asked my father what will I be

For some reason since all seating was introduced its difficult to get a song going.

Was Danny not quoted as saying that he was the one that we had been waiting all summer to get. Panic signing without having seen him play. Probably signed on the basis of the youtube clip showing him scoring 2 goals and one of them hit his shin and went in.

The management of the football club made many mistakes in the close season and the early part of the campaign. These mistakes include, but are not limited to:
    1) Signing Gary Harkins
    2) Playing Gary Harkins
    3) Moving Paul McGowan to accommodate Gary Harkins
    4) Releasing Carey, Parkin and Guy without replacing them
    5) Not signing an experienced goalkeeper and starting the season without one
    7) Playing Kenny McLean at left mid
    8) Signing Stephane Bahoken
    9) Playing Stephane Bahoken
    10) Isolating Lee Mair
Thankfully the management have came to realise these mistakes over the last few weeks, and have did a good job of rectifying them. Harkins has been punted out the side, McGowan has been restored to his correct position, Kenny McLean has been restored to his correct position, an experienced keeper has been signed, Bahoken has been isolated and Lee Mair has been restored to the squad.
Not surprisingly, the rectification of these errors has resulted in a significant up turn in results and performances. Hopefully the management have learned from these mistakes and hopefully they aren't made again.
I must say, they have pulled it out the bag to an extent. They made such a mess of it over the summer i and many others thought it was beyond repair. Thankfully some wise team selections and a good addition (Kello) coupled with some luck with injuries (Thommo staying fit and available) have resulted in this turn around. Let's hope Thommo stays fit, the thought of him becoming unavailable frankly terrifies me, we literally have no one else that can play the number 9 role to any kind of St Mirren standard.
But kudos to Danny Lennon and Tommy Craig, they made a right mess of things over the summer, however they have done a fantastic job of dragging us out of the mess they created.

As mentioned before Saturday will be 2 years to the day since DL extended his contract with Saints. We're up against a Hibs team that are above us in the league, despite changing managers , and their players will obviously be keen to impress their new boss.
Am I right that Goodwin will not be there to continue with his auxiliary goalkeeping duties? If so we'll have to reshuffle the midfield, I'm not going to make any suggestions but I will be claiming the credit if Lennon continues to get it correct!
    As ever - COYS!

So glad you had the vid of the 3-2 victory at Love St on the 18th Sept 99.
That was my first trip back to Scotland since my family emigrated to NZ in 69 yep 30yrs since I saw the buds live, what made it even more special was that my son who was born in NZ was at his first ever Buddies game and against Morton
Also it was at the time where if we won the title (And I understand we were favoured to be relegated that year)we would have to go all seater stadium for premier aspiration.
I had been gifted tickets to sit in the stands with my son but by then I had reconnected with my old mates Jake, Ally, and Col so we gladly walked into the park with them at the love st end and stood on the embankment to soak up the patter and the banter, A day I will cherish, my Son loved the atmosphere and the game was a cracker.
And we ended the campaign as Championnesss ....oh great memories
    Thanks AT

Great display yesterday, Team looks more balanced with players playing there natural positions, McGregor, Mair were superb Young Kelly had a faultless game, Midfield work rate was excellent, Newton had his best game since returning, And big Tommo put in a real big shift, Seems to me Real hard work and playing players in the right position has worked well in the last two game. And also the young keeper Dilo his confidence is growing every week, Had a very assured performance yesterday, Great result, Well everybody involved

Had a great game. Looked confident & steady. Him and Mair had that side under control. I think there's a noticeable change in the performance of the defence when they have confidence in the keeper.
Great performance, result, & day out (just on the train now)

Have been as frustrated as the next fan and could not see a way back for Danny but there you go what a difference a week can make make. Who knows if we will win next week but one thing is for sure confidence will be up on this time last week which is no bad thing.
Danny has looked ill lately no doubt from being under severe pressure hopefully the results this week have taken some weight off Danny’s shoulders Tommy to. The balance of the team has been found that works best. Players on the bench will need to wait their turn now , when their turn comes they will need to try harder and show real commitment to the squad.
Well done to the management and players not forgetting the traveling fans who all played their part in this wonderful result today.

As long as we remain detached from the pack I think Danny will remain under pressure. If we are further adrift at xmas than we are now then I wonder if there might be a change.
Whilst it's unlikely that Hearts side will collect 15 points more than us come May, we could easily go down via the playoffs.
Given it's Danny's 4th season and Rangers are absent from the league, we should really be looking at consolidating around 7th or 8th rather than battling to avoid 11th.

To be honest, I think the noticable change in the performance of the defence has come from the personnel changes across the whole defence, not only the goalie. Mair and McGregor are much better than Goodwin and McAusland back there.

    And another thing.
The best player on the park today was Paul McGowan by a country mile. He has been played out of position all season, but when he is played correctly he dominates matches, and he did today: And more...
Sean Kelly by the way, what a player, keep deputising Mr Grainger. Darren McGregor is back, Lee Mair strolled it, he'd be my captain. One more shout though. Dilo. The best 3 goalkeeping performances I've seen from a Saints keeper ever. Yes, I've had too many, but I love this goalie.
We don't have much of a squad, but we have enough if they are properly used. They were on Monday, they were today.

Danny made a lot of mistakes this campaign. He signed Harkins, Grainger and Cornell and played them all as first choice from the off. Some of us called some of these mistakes when they were made, granted.
However, many managers would have been too stubborn to realise these mistakes, too stubborn to drop their obvious mistakes.
Danny wasn't, He dropped them, and our form has changed.
You've surprised me Mr Lennon, well done. Now learn from your mistakes.

It's Danny's fault that his cock is so small though, and that it leans to the right.
He choose to shrink his cock. It's got less fire power up front & there appears to be no balls at the base either.
(You said cock, but meant squad right?)

What a strange thing to say. Both Jeffries and Levein have recorded several victories over Hearts whilst managing other clubs. Levein is a proven success at this level and i think he'd love to take our job, because he's not going to get a better one. Dundee United, Hearts, and Aberdeen could all have had him this year and all chose not to. Therefore to get back into management he'll need to take a job from a club a step down the rung, and that's a club like us.
Back OT. The squad is in such a mess just now, even when compared with last season. Last year we had Guy and Parkin in reserve in the striking department. Whatever is said about them, they are two experienced strikers with proven goal scoring records at this level. As you'd expect from experienced strikers, both of them chipped in with important goals at important times and both lightened the load on the Hawks shoulders.
Fast forward a few months. Both have been released and Thommo's a year older. Those two experienced proven strikers have been replaced by one inexperienced striker, a punt on a kid from France who (so far) looks nowhere near good enough. How this has been allowed to happen is simply beyond me. I supported the release of Guy and Parkin as i naively believed they would be replaced like for like by other experienced strikers.
Reilly will be a good player but i believe he will develop as a wide player as opposed to a striker. Therefore our striking options at the moment are an out of form ageing Thommo and a kid who has looked so far out of his depth in his minimal game time so far it's frightening.
Compare our bench from our 2-2 game at Fir Park in April to the one yesterday:
    16 Adam 05 Mair 08 Robertson 11 Carey 19 Parkin 27 Guy 29 J McGinn Dilo 02 van Zanten 05 Mair 07 McGinn 11 McLean 16 Caprice 17 Reilly
On the bench in April we had Carey who can change a game and experienced strikers Parkin and Guy. Ironically Guy came on in that game and scored. Our attacking options yesterday were scarily limited. A couple of defenders, a couple of central mids, and a couple of unproven kids.

The vandalism of our squad over the last few months has been unforgivable, it's no wonder we find ourselves in the current mess we do. Why has this been allowed to happen?
