  1. On their fans forum, Falkirk fans are debating possible replacements and imagining Jack Ross is amongst the candidates. Hee hee.
  2. They also won two appeals, in fact the appeals they won were chaired by tax experts and the appeals they lost were chaired by lawyers. Most tax experts regard EBTs as a "legitimate loophole" and thousands of companies in the UK have used them. HMRC threatened loads of them to give them up and pay the tax they would otherwise have paid. If the final tribunal had found against the revenue, these other companies would have a case for going back to them and saying give us back that money we refunded. The cost to the public purse would have been huge. And before any of you ask, I'm a lifelong Saints supporter with as much contempt for the bigot brothers as anyone else. That doesn't mean however that I'm not interested in the truth in a story that has been spun out of control.
  3. Generous gesture....... haha good one. It was opened for people who wanted a quick getaway. As a kid, occasionally when I was tight for cash, I would wander along at about 4.00 and get in with the small group of freeloaders who hung about at the gate. In those days nearly everyone was pay at the gate, the season ticket target market did not include the riffraff. I was always conscious of the fact that you were paying for 50 minutes football, and it was the first 50 minutes not the last 40 minutes when games were usually won or lost.
  4. Last time we won our first league games of the season was 11 years ago. John Sutton scored the winning goal.
  5. What you're saying is that Saints has 1000 million supporters and all but one if them are better than that. This is news to me, I knew I supported a good club but until now I didn't realise we were such a big club.
  6. The reason they changed the spelling to Led is that if they had left it as Lead people who were reading it wouldn't know if it was pronounced lead or lead.
  7. I see it's a one year contract with an option for another year. I wonder which side decides on the option.
  8. Can anyone else remember the days when our colours were black and white?
  9. I like McEnroe. Have a read at his autobiography if you can, it's a good book.
  10. I was there, really enjoyed it. We were two down and well into the second half and got away with a two two draw. We were on a decent unbeaten run at the time. One week later on New Year's Day we beat Morton six three at Cappielow. For me, after all these years, still my favourite Saints game.
  11. I like the fact that's ticket shows how it fits in Mexico, USA and Brazil. It's great that we're moving into these markets.
  12. Victor is probably the best player we've ever had on our books.
  13. Somebody on Raith Rovers thread said we're talking to Vaughan. Anyone on here know what he's like? Could he do a turn for us?
  14. I think Alex Smith looks a bit like Alex Ferguson in that picture.
  15. Did the offer include a reference to lending him back to us for a year?
  16. Hmmmm. If he congratulates us for finishing in a lower league position than any of years he was in charge is that not going to look a bit like "gettitupye"
  17. Your logic is the same as saying that - if I buy a ticket in the national lottery I'll either win or lose. Therefore it's fifty fifty. What you're doing is thinking that I've got a ticket which is a loser and someone else has a ticket that is a winner, it could have been the other way about therefore fifty fifty. Where you're going wrong is that you're not taking into account all of the other tickets that are losers.
  18. Four teams go into the playoffs, one gets promoted, the other don't. One in four is promoted. Out of four teams three stay down and one goes up - which is three to one 25% of the teams in the playoff is promoted, 75% are not. In other words 1 in 4 or 3 to 1. If you were asked to give a definition of the expression 3 to 1 and were asked to do so by means of an example then this playoff process would be an ideal means of achieving that objective
  19. Just looking at that Saints lineup. No political correctness in those days.
  20. Jim Duffy mentioned on the radio last night that Cappielow doesn't have a manager's office.
  21. Just reviewing the title of this thread and thinking I have seen Yes and I've seen the Stranglers. Yes were better. I also think I can remember seeing The Members in The Bungalow around 1980. Is that ringing a bell with anyone else?
  22. I've got the same level of contempt for both of them, I was watching it as a neutral. I thought no penalty. I wouldn't have been surprised if the ref had given it. But I'd have categorised as soft.
  23. Re the Saints v Rangers game, I think I can remember the Evening Times had a colour poster as an insert. The Saints team on one side and a photo of a couple of Rangers players running out the tunnel on the other.
  24. I was talking to a Spanish guy tonight. He was meaning to say Aberdeen but actually said aubergine.
