Goodwin banned but I'd have dropped him anyway along with Newton and Wilde, to be honest there are a couple more who could do with a couple of games warming the bench but we don't have an embarrassment of riches to bring in. On his game Newton is a fantastic player but he hasn't been on his game for a while, Djemba Djemba isn't up to speed yet and could yet prove to be a dud for us but his passing has been excellent so I've kept him in the team instead of Newton, Teale could be out for weeks along with Goodwin if video evidence is used against him and Magennis and Wilde have yet to show that they could improve the team. Back to a passing game try and get Campbell and Mclean close to Thommo when we are in possession and most importantly move the ball on quickly and have a real go at killie from the whistle.

I understand folk are dissappointed and even angry but these guys are well well well well out our price range try and be realistic. And for what it's worth I dont think the BOD will sack DL at all and certainly not before the split.

I'm not saying relegation isn't a danger. I'm not even saying it wouldn't see us stay in the lower divisions for about 10 years.
If we get relegated life will go on.
It has no choice.
Now I can either allow this to ruin my entire life under some pretence that I am somehow a better person for it or I can accept that sometimes despite your best efforts shit happens and life has other avenues of meaning. I'd prefer not to spend an entire season wallowing in despair like billyg, JJ and a host of others on here.
That doesn't mean I'm happy with how Saints are doing.
It doesn't mean I don't care.
It doesn't mean I want us relegated.
But I'm not going to sit here and pretend that relegation is like losing a family member.
It hurts, it sucks but comparing it to death is ludicrous.
BTW the entire point is that as fans we have absolutely no control over how the players perform each week.
Booing can only ever make it worse.
If the team collectively decide they don't fancy playing for Danny and are prepared to wreck our club's progress to get at him then frankly we are screwed for this season. If we are going to be relegated then we need to be prepared to go down fighting, still supporting the team and demonstrating a lot more class than we are doing now.

Please 're-read my post. I didn't suggest changing manager mid-season. Quite the opposite.

If ONLY this was true.
From past experience let me explain exactly what will happen if we win the next few games.
The thundering herd of moaners will use phrases like "papering over the cracks".
They'll all node sagely at each others wisdom whilst the rest of us try to work out WTF that phrase actually means in the context of a small football club.
Predictions will be made about how it won't matter anyway - how Danny will be released in the summer.
Someone will take all of our results since Danny came into the club, remove all of the inconvenient good results, apply a few random and meaningless criteria and then make grand and bold statements about how he's been the worst non-OF manager in games involving non-OF clubs since records began excluding OF games at weekends but not on Sunday afternoons at 12pm kick-offs where ex-OF but now non-OF players were involved in goals which occurred between the 61st and 83rd minutes. 3 people will "like" whoever posts that comment. All of those people will have seen their sons released by the under-19 squad - not because the boys are lazy and complacent or lacking skill but because they believe our entire backroom staff are specifically employed to give away every world beating player and to lose as many games as possible.
The longer Danny stays in his job, the shriller the voices of those who will become increasingly incredulous that SG isn't taking sole notice of their personal viewpoints until they can be heard only by sleeping bats in the Hebrides who will become so disturbed by the hgh pitched nasal wailing that the RSPCA are forced to step in to protect the furry blighters and allow them to get some much needed kip.

I think you're misremembering due to your hatred of our manager. What year exactly have we had problems staying up?
This is nothing more than a personal agenda,
Year 1 was the only year that was a bit of a struggle but that was mainly due to DL not having his own players and Gus's players being tied to contracts.
It was at this point people decided he wasn't good enough^
he changed our style of football and took us to our highest spl finish - people didn't want to admit they were wrong so they still called for his head.
he gave us our first cup in 25 years but people still wanted him gone.
And now we sit 9th but in these same peoples minds that means we are guaranteed relegation unless we get rid of him immediately.
The problem here isn't the manager.
The problem is the internet.
No one has ever admitted to being wrong on the internet so we have a small percentage of the fans hoping he slips up so they can say "I told you so"
It's pathetic really

I think all the information is in my post. The current manager has kept us up three years in a row, one being our best finish in 25 years. Unless we're getting a proven manager in his place, it'd be foolish to change managers.
It's not that difficult to follow.

FWIW, I would never swap Thompson for Higdon. The former brings so much more to the club than goals - both on and off the field.

For me, the whole point of playing 2 holding mids is to allow 3 attacking mids to support Thommo. So, for example djemba-djemba and Goodwin hold allowing Campbell, Gowser, and Wylde support the attack. Yesterday though Newton, McLean and even Gowser sometimes we're far too deep and left Thommo isolated. If DL sticks with D&G he must play 3 from Wilde,Gowser,Campbell & Teale. We left it far too late to bring on Campbell and Teale yesterday and the formation we started with was just plain wrong. Still onwards and upwards.
