I take it the sound of silence is deafening. This is the guy who won't spend the petrol money to drive from Arbroath to Paisley to see St.Mirren. He certainly won't spend the same petrol money to get humiliated by you. Says he has you on ignore but I bet he's itching to have a go at you. I don't know or care if I'm on ignore but we might see. I get a secret thrill out of his inane dismissive remarks. He says things like 'Run along' more often than StuDick  posts shit and that takes some doing. I realise I might be doing him a disservice if he has PM'd you. Can't wait to hear from him.

He played in the U-17 Euros , so I'd imagine he attracted some attention there.
I haven't seen very much of him TBH, as his appearances have been pretty limited.
However, with that level of interest, I'd say he was definitely worth a million pounds.
Especially if we can generate a bidding war.

Does anyone else get a pop-up with the above message when you 'like' a post? It comes up with a triangle on it containing a black exclamation mark. I mentioned it way back when Div updated the forum but I never heard anything back. From what I can see, the 'likes' do sometimes show up sometimes they don't. Am I doing something stupid, possibly for the first time in my life?

Yeah, you tried to 'like' a post of StuDick's. The message you are seeing is merely a default setting Div has built into the forum software.

10 days ago we were in the worst League position in our history. Bottom of the second tier and 10 points adrift and staring at the 3rd tier like a rabbit in the headlights. To me this is exceptional circumstances. I would not be happy about paying wages from my SMiSA contributions over the next 10 years however paying £6 for a potential life jacket in our urgent situation is acceptable to me.


And if the majority vote against then fair enough. I won't respond to everyone's opinion but accept their right to make their point once and move on.

794 members voted in the ballot. The percentages are spot on.

The whole country didn't vote in the independence referendum, the general election or the EU referendum either.

Turnout was lower than I'd have expected but junior members don't get a vote, and the voting window was only a few days so I assume many might have missed it.

And there was two choices in the ballot, not one.

I'm not surprised by that percentage, to be honest. I voted not to use the money for the player budget, but fully respect (and understand) the outcome. Hopefully we won't find ourselves in such desperate straits too often as to require a similar course of action in the future.

What part of the collective £2 fund being a discretionary pot of money is it that you don't understand? One minute you go on about factions and the next you want SMISA to go tell the club to get screwed.

It's currently the responsibility of SMISA to gain control of St Mirren and part of that has to be looking at ways to contribute to or develop various areas of the club's operations. So far we've seen community projects, infrastructure and now the playing budget being focus of that assignment of funds. It's been a decent spread and not a begging bowl by any means. As for what is next, for April spend, I'm absolutely certain the views of the club, SMISA members and others will be taken on board.

Last time i looked, St Mirren was a football club that is struggling and needs a bit of help to get out of the situation it currently finds itself in.
If that help takes the form of the supporter's trust providing funding that the club either cannot currently afford or does not have available to keep the recently acquired momentum going, to protect the revenue that will come from financially lucrative matches or to enable the manager to attract players to the club to strengthen his squad and get us up the table, I don't see why some have a problem with either decision.
In short, if the club has reduced revenue from being unable to play scheduled home games or continues to limp along with a squad where certain positions have been identified as weak points, I can only see that having one result so it is surely a "no brainer" that SMISA should assist, particularly as 88% of the membership that voted was in favour of investing in the playing squad.

Nice thread, FerguslieBud. One a-typical reply from the village curmudgeon. After the bad start of being accidentally born in Ibrox, I lived in Paisley for 38 years before moving to Norn Irn in 1985. My first memories of St.Mirren were when living in the pre-fabs at Gockston I could hear the roars from Love Street. My Dad lifted me over for the first time when I was about three but he said I was a pain in the arse, running round wanting onto the pitch and asking for pies and Bovril all the time. I had a great grandfather who was a cairter and family legend has it he was one of the earliest residents of Cairters Corner. I like to think it's true. I get back home now and again and was there last month. Looking forward to the SMiSA event in a fortnight's time and hopefully meeting some troopers from the Black & White Army.

The biggest clown on the forum never gives up on his mantra. Community, community, community. It's apparently the answer to all St.Mirren's problems. I believe the credible posters on here that we do an appreciable amount for the community whereas the clown says we do nothing. One thing the old board and the new board have in common is rightfully ignoring the clown. He doesn't understand what 'Don't ring us, we'll ring you' means. Community involvement is a desirable, but when we're firefighting it can go on the back burner. I suppose the undersoil heating would never have broken down if only we had been a community club.

Not like they're asking for a million quid loan. If this money plus anything extra they have contribute to one or two of his own signings then fine. Let's see what happens.
