zurich_allan reacted to whydowebother in Davie Longwell
Nah, don't be daft, he was 'hopeless' ( allegedly) it's not as if any of us can list all the successes of our set up thanks to him :
Really pleased for him, he was underrated, underestimated ( by many ) , Good luck to him. -

Was down at the stadium today and bumped into Davie Longwells Dad who I know from the u20s games. He's was telling me that Davie has left Orlando and signed a 7 year deal with New York Red Bulls to manage their Academy. Good luck to him.

Perhaps, but it becomes largely meaningless as media outlets, politicians, and others employ the term in whatever manner suits their perspective/agenda. That is the critical point.

To add my own brief thought. The usually applied definition of terrorism or a terrorist attack is for either one person or another person to use violence or the threat of violence, with the intention of placing a broader group of people into a position of terror or significant fear, and where that violence or threat of violence is intended to bring about some level of political change.
Those are the essential elements i.e.:
1. Violence / Threat
2. Placing group of people (beyond those directly attacked) in position of terror / fear
3. Aim to bring about political change
All three elements are essential for an attack to be classed as a terrorist attack.
Relating to this particular attack, I think it's borderline on both points 2 and 3, so could see legitimate arguments each side. I think the only way to establish the reality is to formally interview the perpetrator and investigate his background and prior held views.

I agree.
fortunately I drive a bus and only overtake on blind bends and brows of hills when my passengers encourage me to do so... with their screams of wholehearted approval...

Wee update. My wife got me new gutties from Decathlon for my 10k in Edinburgh.

It got better. The next film I saw a few weeks later was Back to the Future. :-) Though the overall film aside, I remember in a view to a kill, being on the edge of my seat with the scenes on the bridge at the end! -
zurich_allan got a reaction from Doakes in 2017/18 season tickets on sale now
Okay, I'll bite. It's not a question of grumping, it's a question of being practical. I sit in a group of four of us. Me, my friend, and both of our dads. My dad is in his 70s and has a bad back that, whilst not always that bad, does flare up at times. He can't stand for a whole game. I've had my season ticket in W5 since the stadium opened (initially in row D, then after one season moving up toward the back. When in the past the singing section etc. have been housed in W5, and standing (I have no problem with Standing, I stand at every Scotland match), the view from our seats is heavily restricted. In the row behind us there are a few older guys too, same situation I'd imagine.
There are solutions to standing, singing sections that can be put in place that don't involve fundamentally annoying or alienating existing supporters, and it's those that have to be investigated to get the best possible solution for all.
This isn't moaning, it's just being rational and practical.
