farmer john Posted January 17, 2015 Report Share Posted January 17, 2015 (edited) The challenge in the Derby game was atrocious but it highlighted perfectly how trigger happy our refs have become. They appear to be gagging to get the cards out and it spoils games. The number of red cards in our games for and against this season is staggering. In fact over the last two or three seasons it's staggering. far far too many games being ruined by trigger happy refs sending off players for next to nothing. That red card today was absolutely scandalous. If that is worthy of a red card then the game is f**ked. Fans pay to watch 11 V 11 ...they are driving fans away as well as ruining games. (it is OK if the player red carded is playing against St Mirren of course!) Brilliant to win like that....fantastic indeed. The fourth official's duties are usually administrative in nature and vary depending on the match rules and the discretion of the referee. Common duties for a fourth official may include managing technical areas and substitutions, maintaining a backup record of the score and cautions/send-offs, and displaying information on substitutions and extra time to spectators That's is remit of 4th official. The ref gives the foul so has seen the challenge and obviously believes that's all it was, no further action needed. Then the 4th official gets involved. I've never seen one do that unless it's an off the ball incident they've spotted. Is he a local by any chance?
