A cross between Santa and Bruce Willis. Watched this during the holiday period with my son. Some films are so bad they're good, this wasn't one of them. Supported by other excellent actors but the story was the real star. Funny, heartwarming and sad. I'd suggest you take a hankie. 11/

It encompassed so many emotions and I have to admit that there were tears in my wyes a couple of times but that was outdone by the many laughs as I seen so many traits that I have. Tom Hanks has made a few duffers but whe nhe's good he's very good and that covers him in this film.
faraway saint
Going to see this with the oldest granddaughter on Tuesday. A good story about a strong woman, not for the racists amongst us.

A good story about a strong woman, not for the racists amongst us. Fairly predictable storyline but, nonetheless, quite harrowing that this happened in 1955. The lead, played by a lady called Danielle Deadwyler, was the standout performance. A good strong 8.5/10 from me.
Albanian Buddy
Given recent threads on here has anyone watched this? https://m.imdb.com/title/tt4972582/ It stars James McAvoy and gets a solid 7.3/10 on IMDB. My bar on watching movies is 7.

Lo and behold it's now on their official trailer. No fee as yet but maybe Tom will get in touch to thank me.

StanleySaint
MrsS and I watched Enola Holmes 2 and Shotgun Wedding last night, both enjoyable easy watch movies not Oscar quality but entertaining enough.
StanleySaint
This week's offerings, Bank of Dave, heartwarming truish story of setting up an independent bank in Burnley, really enjoyable pick me up sort of thing. Secondly, came across a documentary film called Wildcat, tough watch at times but if you are a cat lover you'll get the relationship between the lad and the Ocelot but my does it highlight the suffering some of our ex military personnel go through with mental health
faraway saint
Watched "Ali" on the flight home yesterday. Will Smith, who I generally enjoy, couldn't, for me, really make this work. It was over 2 hours long and it felt like it. Slow and, for me, the fight scenes/action didn't really look very authentic. A disappointing 5/

beyond our ken
Tickets are now on sale for the first screening of this new independent movie, made in the West of Scotland The Labyrinth + Q&A | CCA Glasgow (cca-glasgow.com) I may be biased as my son is one of the two main characters, but it looks and sounds amazing Edited June 12, 2023 by beyond our ken

faraway saint
Seen the trailer for this the other day, despite Mr Ford getting on I'll certainly give it a watch. Can't beat a real Hollywood blockbuster.
